Going out out

i have a 3.5 year old and a 1.5 year old... Long story short I don't get to go "out out" much these days!!! Well, tonight is my cousins 21st surprise party... We have a baby sitter.. And we are having an evening off of being called mummy and daddy.

Question for you ladies...

Are heels going to be a really stupid idea? I didn't ever wear heels with my other pregnancies because my mother told me they'd hurt too much and I'd probably fall over (thanks mum!) any of you ladies wearing heels and you're fine, not too Uncomfy or wobbly?

Ps- yes this is a lame post. I told you, I don't go "out out" much.

  • Depends on the heel and what your planning to do.  Unless it's dinner at a restaurant and back home I'd say no stilletos (sp?.)  If the heel is a decent width and you feel comfortable in them they should be fine.  I would highly suggest wedges though.  They're sturdier and tend to be more comfortable for me.

I think it depends a lot on how comfortable you are in heels. From the sound of your post I'm guessing you don't wear them often, in which case I would honestly skip it. Unless of course you have a particularly comfortable pair of heels. I know for me, wearing an uncomfortable pair of shoes can ruin a night for me, because that's all I end up thinking about. Wouldn't want to ruin your one night out with the constant thought of aching feet!
  • I gave up heels last pregnancy and barely ever wear them.
I would wear cute flats so you don't have to worry about it. I'd want to have fun with out worrying about my feet.

I agree that it depends on what heels you have available. My husband and I were at an engagement party last weekend, and I wore heels. I'm not "used to" wearing them by any means...once a week at most...but there were lots of places to sit and chat, so when my feet started to get a little tired of the extra height, I just sat down. It worked perfectly for me. My feet didn't actually get sore all night.

  • It depends on what heels you will be wearing and what type of party it is. If you will be on your feet all night in what you think may be uncomfortable (yet super cute) shoes, you might want to go with something shorter or chunkier that won't ruin your fun night out!
  • I wear heels to work everyday.  I have adjusted to only wearing my more comfortable lower heels and I haven't had any problems.  I didn't have problems with my taller less comfortable heels, but I didn't want to risk falling or be unnecessarily uncomfortable.  I think if you are relatively experienced wearing heels, a heel of up to 2.5 inches should be fine as long as the it is a decent shoe.  I still wear my really comfortable 3 inch heels occasionally, but will probably stop that once I get bigger.  I am 15 weeks and 2 days today.
  • As someone said earlier, the concern should be about whether you are used to wearing heels or not; not whether or not you should wear heels when pregnant.

I'm voting for heels.  I'm a SAHM and not a very fashionable one at that.  So I jump at the chance to wear a cute pair of heels.  But agree with all the posters that said bring a back-up.  I had a few formal events when I was really far along with my first LO, and while it was fun for awhile, I definitely did not have the heel staying power I once did.
As a caution though, if you've had any lower back/sciatica issues this pregnancy, skip the heels, they just aggravate it terribly.  If not, tower on.

God bless you. The THOUGHT of going to a 21st birthday party makes me exhausted.

My thoughts exactly! I've been too grumpy about not being able to have a beer to unwind let alone going to a bar!

And as far as shoes, definitely just be comfortable. I wore heels the other day for 11 hours and wanted to cry.

@EllaStaxx ahh man no giraffes in heels?! Internet has let me down!!!
  • I vote heels. Always heels. I swear I will give birth in heels.

I am also rather envious of you getting to go out out. Have a great time and do a little dance for me xx
