Need advice! Positive HPT 4 weeks after D&C.

Need your thoughts on this...

I had a D&C almost 4 weeks ago. I was 10 weeks and the baby stopped developing at 7. I stopped bleeding 2 weeks after the procedure. I have not gotten my period.
Hubby and I had sex 10 days ago. I took a HPT today because I just had this instinct to take it. It's positive.

My question is..do you think I'm actually pregnant, or do you think I still have hormones leftover from the initial pregnancy??

My Dr. didn't do blood tests after the procedure and I have not taken any HPT other than this one. The line is not super dark, but if I'm pregnant it wouldn't be because it's so early. And if its remaining hormones from the miscarriage it probably wouldn't be either.

I'm SO stressed about this!! Need some advice on how to move forward.

    Call your doctor... it could go either way. The only way to know is to do a couple blood tests and see if the #s are going up or down. Good luck.

    As PP stated, it could go either way. I ovulated 26 days after my D&C (confirmed through temping) and my HcG levels were negative when I took a HPT just two weeks after my D&C. I have a friend that had her beta levels tracked and her HcG wasn't <3 like they wanted for over six weeks post D&C.

    Basically, yes, this could be a new pregnancy or it could be residual leftover hormones. The only way to know is to call your doctor and get betas. Good luck!

    I'm in the same position. I mc 5 w 3d ago. I was 11 weeks. We did a us and it appeared to was complete. Now I'm waiting 4 my cycle and being impatient so I took a hpt. I expected it to be negative but it was positive. I'm so confused. Is it a new pregancy or hcg levels from the mc?????

    One of the other girls on the board had a positive test and got her period two days later. I would definitely say it could go either way.

    RE says the low egg count is likely causing my recurrent pregnancy loss. Less eggs results in more aneuploidy.

    Another voice to say there is no way to tell without repeat betas. Call your doctor to discuss.

    Mine was obvious after taking the tests every other day. They never got any darker. If you're pregnant again, your HPTs should be getting darker with increased hCG levels.

    Thank you all for your advice. I had my levels tested today. They are at a 10 right now which doesn't give me much of an answer because it could be a new pregnancy or residual from the miscarriage.
    I will take another in 48 hours and if it increases we'll know!
    This whole experience makes me wish I had been getting tested each week after the procedure. It wasn't something the Dr. offered so I didn't realize how helpful it would be.

    I had my levels tested Thursday but I still don't know what they are. However....late Friday I started bleeding. So I guess it was the last of the pregnancy hormones. At least I know.

    They called me back to say my hcg is at 76 and that's high for having a mc 6 weeks ago. Ughhh
    I only had a 1 day period....when I was pregnant I had a 1 day period also.

    @jm2168, what was your level at the second test? I had mine tested yesterday after what I assume was a false BFP and my hcg was 7. If this is leftover hcg, I'm curious how quickly it drops once it gets low. I want it gone so my third post-d&c cycle can be normal.

    Mine dropped from 7 to 6 in 48 hours. So slow! I think it's gone now. I got AF 11 days after the 6 reading.

    My 2nd test showed 51 HCG level. It was 2 weeks after the 1st blood test. Now I'm waiting for round 3 of blood testing. Ughhhhhh

    I had a D&C at 10.5wks, baby stopped growing at 9.5wks. I got positive HPTs until 4w3d post-D&C. At that point I was wondering if it was residual or a new pregnancy. Had my levels tested that day and HCG was 4.5 (even though the line on FRER was pretty clear). Got my period 4 days later, so there's my answer, but I think these things can go either way. Ready for a new start!

    My PCM said this morning that HCG should drop by half for each day post D&C. But it seems from other responses based on actual experiences, it may be a bit slower.
