Hello, My wife and I are considering the name Irelyn for our daughter. I am curious what the popular opinion is on this name. Our last name is Irish so I'm concerned it may come across as corny.
I think it's time to look for a new name. Irelyn is just bad, and Ireland is super super super cheesy to begin with, and just ridiculous with an Irish last name.
Terrible. If you are going for Ireland, you spelled it wrong. If you are making up a -lyn name, sticking a word that means anger at the front is a bad choice. There are lots of great, legitimate I names or Irish names.
Are you attempting to feminize Ireland? That word has a d on the end so it would have to be Irelynd. Either way, this should not be a name. It would look cheesy with any last name. Maybe consider Erin or Google some traditional Irish names. If all else fails, go with Ireland...but stay far away from falling into the -lyn vortex.
Please, for the love of God, listen to the previous posters. Irelyn is not a name. It's ridiculous. Ireland is cheesy and over the top if paired with an Irish surname. Please choose a legitimate name for your daughter. Try this site: Behind the Name, and search under Irish names for many options. Good luck.

For a moment I misread your post and thought you were facetiously suggesting Google as an alternative.
Idk @LizzyIsOKC Google might be better than Irelyn.
Also, I was thinking about this. Without the D the reference to the country is lost, which would make this name mean literally Anger-Lynn, since ire means anger.
On the flip side, add an ie and you could have Irie-Lynn, but that may only work in Jamaica.
