I'd love a big, upholstered glider but we really don't have the space. Will probably go with the Poang rocker and ottoman from ikea, which are actually super comfortable.
I have a glider from crate and barrel! It's lasted for my 2 previous pregnancies and still good to go for baby #3. It's nice because you can wash the chair cover in the washer! Especially if you plan on breastfeeding, breastmilk will most likely get on your chair depending on how much you leak out the other breast when feeding. Sorry, maybe too much info...
@kelsojohnso, do the arms on that rocker come up high? I was looking at several, including ikea, but was kind of worried about the comfort of the wooden arm rests. Our closest ikea is about 2 hours....i may just have to make a trip to test them out.
I second getting a recliner! I had such bad heartburn at the end of my pregnancy that I slept in our recliner for the last month at least. Try doing that in one of those gliders!
I like the upholstered ones. Getting the Dorel Kelcie swivel glider and ottoman. Found it on wayfair.com, but it's $30 cheaper at Walmart. I think I'll order it today.
@dparker721 kind of? Idk, I liked it in the store and when I got home and put it together I practiced by holding my dachshund like a baby and rocking him :P it was comfy for me... I bought it mainly because when I'm done with it for baby it will still match the rest of my house
I got a really nice, really expensive recliner/ottoman set from Babies R Us as a gift with my first. In retrospect, I definitely should have asked for something else for $800! Knowing how much I used it, would definitely recommend to get something comfortable but CHEAP.
I used the ikea poang chair for baby #1, and the arms are definitely a problem. Too low, and hard. You'll need to keep a couple of bed pillows next to the chair, to stuff under your arm.
No matter what, TRY before you buy. I'm short, what will work for me is probably different than a taller person. I like practicing using my purse as a baby, sitting and testing the chair arm height and then seeing if I can get out of the chair easily and without jostling the "baby purse". No matter how comfy, if a chair is too deep you might wake up baby every time you try to get up to put them down. Matching your living room won't matter squat then!!
I wanted to get something that we would utilize even once the baby is older. We just purchase a Lazy Boy today and it is so nice. We now have a couch and recliner/rocker instead of a couch and love seat. I think it was the best choice I have made so far and my husband loves it! Good Luck!
We just got a Stork Craft brand off amazon for $100, usally $129 I think. So easy to put together, came with an ottoman too. LOVE IT!! Honestly haven't gotten out of it all weekend. Has very nice cushions on it, arm rests are padded also and have handy side pockets. Definitely would recommend. Good luck!!
Just got a glider with ottoman from buy buy baby. I was between glider or recliner but this was sooo comfy and still had the look I wanted. Not wood. Just one of those comfy chairs that's glides with a foot spot. Attaching pic. Got floor model and was able to also use $100 off coupon. Multiple ppl I know have this. Can't wait to use!!
