Penis sighting at 12 week ultrasound

I already knew we were having a boy from the MaterniT21 blood test but we could clearly see the penis on today's ultrasound (12 weeks 3 days).
I'm high risk and have quick ultrasounds with every OB visit.
We weren't able to determine DD's sex until 15 weeks last time.
Anyway, the point of my post is that if any of you have a 12 week ultrasound coming up, and it's a boy, you may be able to see!

(Obviously quality of US machine, baby's position, uterine positioning, etc all come into play.)

Oh I'm jealous! I had my NT scan today and LO's legs were tucked under. And I was supposed to have my Maternit21 results like last week! Still haven't got them grrrrr! I better get them tomorrow!! Lol

Congratulations!!! My sister is pregnant with her 4th baby (3rd boy) and she said at this point she can tell with 95% confidence the gender at 12 weeks if they get a good shot since she's seen so many little peepees on her ultrasounds at this point

Such a bummer about the tucked legs! That's how DD was last time and I was so disappointed.

Boys and girls both look the same at 12 weeks pregnant. They both appear to have a penis.

You still haven't got them back??? I thought you were suppose to get them back today.

Lucky you. They didn't offer genitic testing for the sex... offered it for everything else

Today was 2 weeks!!! They said it's because the volume of patients are rising. Weird.. The lab actually told the nurse that they got through all my samples but one. So they should I have my results by tomorrow. I had the Maternit21. Was yours M21too?

That's odd. Most of the genetic testing is looking at different chromosomes, including the presence or absence of the Y chromosome, so they can tell you boy/girl.

Which one did you do, or are you doing?

They can sometimes tell the sex when they do the NT scan. They don't see a nub though. They can tell by the pelvis joints and how they're angled . Both the OB and the US tech told me that today.

There is a "nub" that sticks out, and starts to show around 12-13 weeks.
But, It's on both boys AND girls. So if anyone sees a small appendage protruding, it's not necessarily a boy...
I guarantee what you saw was this "nub".
There IS a "nub theory" some techs swear by. Depending on the angle of the nub (above 30 degrees means boy, I think) you can sometimes determine the gender but obviously it's not 100% accurate
Google nub theory and I'm sure you'll find more info somewhere

I didn't want to do any of them, but they didn't tell me about that one. I go back the 1st for an ultrasound I'll be 13 weeks so hopefully I get a flash lol

Razberii Oh ok. All genetic screening tests will test for chromosomal disorders, and also detect the Y chromosome, so all of them can tell you the sex of the baby.

We am waiting very impatiently for the results from our Maternity21+ We had it done last Friday so hoping for some results this Friday! It has to be the one good thing about being high risk! Have our NT scan next Friday at 12w3D. Hope we are able to see something too!!!

I had an ultrasound after 12 w sometime and were pretty positive we seen a penis!

We went for a scan on Monday at 12w 2d and the tech said there is most likely a penis there

According to the nub theory it does have an angle so we are probably having a boy.

I have no idea what I'm having.... I have no gut feeling like I did w my niece and nephew (I was right each time)... We thought we seen a penis but not for sure....

I don't think you can see the nub in either picture. Do you have one of baby lying down in profile?

Dam you ladies are all so lucky, I had an ultrasound today at 10 weeks and my baby doesn't really seem to look like a baby yet. I didn't see any limbs or anything, just the peanut and heart flickering away. The doctor was like "well your baby is alive" jeez thanks doc! Maybe the machine is older

12 weeks is supposedly the very earliest you can make a guess based in the nub. Nothing to see at 10 weeks so no worries! I'm high risk so I get 2 ultrasounds this week.
