Hi J15!
Maybe a little soon considering we haven't hit June yet, but with my impending induction (T-minus 3 days), I had a moment of shallow panic where I thought about the one thing that has been the bane of my existence for the last few months: Clothes.
How on earth do you dress your postpartum body without looking frumpy and pregnant in the summer heat on a budget?
STMs any advice? Any plans FTMs?
Also, I'm going to go ahead and apologize for starting a thread after being a bit of a lurker for the last 2 weeks. I've been in a funk, add that to our crazy-looking board and I've been stricken with absinteeism. Forgive me!
Re: Dressing Your Postpartum Body
@RondaRassat I bought some cute-ish sweats that won't make the pads and full butt underwear feel as embarrassing and dehumanizing, but as far as tops, I'm lost. I already have a long torso and I just don't want to feel dumpy and fat. I so get the feeling of just saying "F it" and leaving the store.
test DH to see if he REALLY loves me :P
gross disclaimer: will be wearing underwear, dont want blood on the carpet. and probably a bra to keep the girls up to avoid boob sweat.
@dancegurl1118 I'm toying with the idea of those big men's tank tops that became so popular last summer and sports bras. Intentionally loose clothing is definitely an upside to having a summer baby.
But seriously last time I wore a tank top under everything that I bought from
Costco (I think I saw them at target too) that had a stomach panel that was super tight and meant to suck everything in. It was hot sure, but I felt much better then I would have been had I been tugging at everything.
Ppl say you leave the hospital looking about 5 months along.......
And I wondered if people were still wearing Bella bands for part of the summer or if I should break down and buy maxi dresses because those Bella bands are constricting to me! But.... Yes... I need advice for this as well!
Legit thread! And holy boobs is right.... If these go up anymore from the E they are now.... I'm screwed.
Maybe we should all just invest in deep Vs and plunging necklines. Lol!
I'm going with flowy maxi dresses, skirts, pjs and nursing tanks.
What helps me to not feel bad right now is just wearing maternity stuff that fits properly. My postpartum fears come from trying to dress a body that doesn't really fit into a clothing category (maternity, etc) and therefore clueless as to how to make myself look half decent and be comfortable instead of frumpy or silly.
I feel like that now mostly because my belly hangs out of the bottom of 98% of my maternity shirts lol.
Also, sorry for any worry...I've been in a funk for sure. Getting ready for LO's arrival and allof tthese doctors appointments have left me feeling a bit checked out on TB, but I always lurk! Lol
No apology necessary, I can totally understand. It all sounds exhausting, honestly. I'm super excited for you to meet meet your LO tomorrow.
