I bought a pregnancy test at Walmart today. This is not an unusual occurrence. And I have 6 different kinds under my sink right now already and I still have a week before I plan to test. It's just become an obsession. Anyway, the check out lady saw it and started telling me this story about checking out a young girl who was holding a small baby and buying nothing but a test. The lady evidently told her "You don't need this test. You should save the 12 bucks. You know you're pregnant, right?" And the girl was upset because her first was so young and she wasn't ready yet. She bought the test anyway. A while later, the check out lady said the girl came back to her and told her she was pregnant and the lady said she never forgot her because she knew the girl really didn't want a yes.
So, then she said to me "It seems like you want a yes" and I said "Yeah. I want a yes really badly." And she said "What do you think it's going to say?" And I said "I think it's going to be a no. But that's because I've had a lot of nos and I don't like getting my hopes up." And then I said "But you never know." And she said "Well I'll be thinking of you. I hope you get your yes."
And then I had to put my sunglasses on because I started crying.
I hope I get my yes someday too. I hope we all do.
