I had my appointment Tuesday at 37+2. Little girl is "really really low"...my poor hips had already made me aware Of that. Also, no mention of dilation, but my OB said I'm "thinning out". I didn't want to know specifics. Being really low, thinning out plus the really bad hip pain was enough for my OB to take me out of work 1 week earlier than what I had planned...and I'm totally THRILLED about! My last day of work is tomorrow (Friday) and then I'll be off until 6-8 weeks after LO gets here, whenever that may be. One more 12hr shift to get through...I think I can, I think I can...
Had a BPP due to GD yesterday at 37+2. Got an 8 out of 8 on the BPP (they didn't do the NST). Baby is measuring "big" overall, long arms and legs, but the concern was that the belly was big - estimated at 8 lbs 5 oz already. I understand measurements from ultrasounds can be off, especially this late in the game. I just hope that the margin of error means they overestimated the weight! I have my weekly apt with doc tomorrow, so we will see what she says (my US are done at a different center than my OB's office). I'm a little anxious because I'm not thrilled about the idea of inducing early because it sounds like that can be more trouble than it is worth. Although I wouldn't mind having the baby any time now. Ultimately, I will listen to what doc says and weigh the pros and cons. As of last Friday I was 3 cm dilated. Hopefully we see more progress at tomorrow's appointment.
I had an appointment with the endocrinologist yesterday (re: my GD), everything is looking good, and my sugars have been pretty controlled via diet (so I won't likely be needing insulin, yay)! However, she did find a nodule on my thyroid and would like me to have an ultrasound of it to determine it's size (I'll just add that to the already full calendar of appointments in the next 2 weeks). Here's hoping it's nothing!
I also had an ultrasound this morning to check on baby's size and position, since she was feeling breech at my last appointment. Turns out she's head down! Wahoo! One step closer to my VBAC. I'm not sure how big she is though, but will find out at my OB appointment tomorrow afternoon. Fingers crossed she's not a giagantor baby
My 36 week appointment was yesterday. Anyone else get SO excited hearing baby's heartbeat? I feel her moving around and everything but nothing fills my heart more than hearing her fast, perfect heartbeat.
She's breech and my doctor is sending me to get an ultrasound to determine if it's worth trying to turn her. I wasn't planning on having another one unless I had to. I am SSOOO excited to see her today :x
I had my 34 week appointment yesterday. We got to see our LO with the growth ultrasound and she still won't show us her face. I guess she wants it to be a surprise She looks perfectly healthy and the tech says she weighs about 5 lbs 6 oz and the OB predicts a 7 lb baby. My blood pressure was normal and she says my swelling is due to the hot weather here in TX. I have graduated to weekly visits and I get my GBS test and first cervical check next week.
Mine was yesterday. I waited almost 45 mins for a three minute appointment. That's so annoying. I think everyone was in there trying to get in before the holiday weekend.
Baby sounded good--no contractions whatsoever on my NST. Which is NUTS since I've had them consistently for 4 weeks! I'm 1/2 cm dilated and 30 percent effaced.
I'm hoping to make it until at least June 1st so I can be out about to labor day. Work is crazy right before then and I'd admittedly, not like to be a part of that
Had my appointment today at 37+5. Nothing too exciting. Looks like she has stopped growing according to my doctor, or extremely slowed down. She is still measuring between 32 and 33 weeks. but we did a growth scan at 34 weeks because of her measuring so small, and she looked healthy. So doctor said not to worry, her heart rate and movements are good and some babies just stop growing in the last month.
DH and I were hoping she would be a couple days late to give her some time to plump up.. but if she has stopped growing then I guess there is no point in that. I hope she comes soon!! My whole family and DHs whole family is going away for memorial day weekend, I think it would be kinda funny if she came while they were all gone. But my family thinks otherwise. lol
Didnt get a cervix check this time, but she said I will next time if I want to. I know it doesnt make a difference but its fun to know if there has been any change.
Had my first weekly appointment today GBS test done. I agree with others it was uncomfortable but it felt like my pap not really painful. Measured, BP, weight, and heart beat, nothing surprising. I also just wanted to post this from the CDC website since I was getting worried about how GBS would affect the baby if I tested positive.
A pregnant woman who tests positive for group B strep and gets antibiotics during labor has only a 1 in 4,000 chance of delivering a baby with group B strep disease, compared to a 1 in 200 chance if she does not get antibiotics during labor.
I am not trying to make GBS sound less then it is but I don't want other women to stress that there will be complications since they tested positive. If the baby gets GBS it can be life threatening but chances are low that it will be transferred to the baby if the antibiotics are given during labor. As with any other thing make sure to gather information so you are prepared if complications do happen but try not to overstress.
The only reason why GBS should scare you into getting to the hospital in time to get your antibiotics is because (per our pediatrician) babies can die within 24 hours if it's not caught.
If you do not get there ... They can draw a lab on your baby to make sure infection isn't setting in.
Had my appt yesterday at 37+2. Still not dilated, but "very thin." I was disappointed cause I've been having painful contractions and was hoping it was meaning I was progressing some but no such luck. Oh well. Maybe next week!!!
My Midwife just left and all is well! BP excellent, baby is in great position with a strong HR. My weight gain is on point and just found out I'm GBS negative. GBS test was performed by me actually. Insert swab, twist left, twist right, and down the perineum. That's it! 38 weeks today & getting excited to meet our baby girl!
Just got back from my 36 week appt. Results of my GBS came back negative, which is good cause I have a penicillin allergy (I know there are other antibiotics but it's good to know we won't have to play the roulette of finding appropriate meds). Cervical check was not too bad, a little uncomfortable... Felt like the part of a pap where they palpate your ovaries. 50% effaced and 'just less than a fingertip' dilated. And the ewok is head down, tho how they can tell that from a finger up my girly bits is beyond me. I forgot to ask if we could tell if ewok was sunny side up or not. Bah, I'm not worried about it overmuch. Overall she says "things are happening but I'm pretty sure I'll see you in two weeks" (I see her associate Dr next week)
So I just got back from the ultrasound and I was so excited about seeing my alien looking baby (super adorable alien looking baby) that I forgot why I went there to begin with and now idkkkkk if she's breech of not. I THINK I remember her finding her head below my belly button and her legs above. But I'm not sure. Pregnancy brain. Ughhhhh.
Just got back from my LAST bi-weekly appointment. I hate the long wait. Always with the waiting. Oh welllll. Next thursday is the start of the weekly appointments. Excited. Nothing out of ordinary. Just nervous about the GBS At next appointment. Everything has been going so smoothly--i feel like its gunna be positive. He's head down and dr says im ALL BABY and realllly low. But i probably could have established that myself sooooo close to meeting our lil guy. How exciting
Got to see my little man up close and personal today..36 weeks, head down, and measuring 6lbs 14oz (yikes) he kept smiling and sucking in his wrist.. He's so cute :x
I'm still on bi weekly appts. But I'm debating on if I should try a VBAC. I asked my OB today what happens if I go into labor early and how that works with a c section and I kind of got the feeling that she was like why would you still want a csection? Even my MFM was completely on board with a VBAC and was encouraging me!
35 week appointment today. Had the GBS swab and cervical check. Cervix was "a little soft but not as soft as it's going to get" and the doctor said baby is head down, has dropped a little but not as far as he is going to go. Starting next week I have to have NST twice a week due to advanced maternal age. The doctor said everything looks fine and perfect, but because I'm 40 years old they are going to induce me at 39 weeks (sometime between 39-0 and 39-6). I'm ok with this to minimize the chance of old placenta + older woman increasing the risk of stillbirth or other problems. It's also good to be able to narrow down the time frame my baby will be born, since the uncertainty has been driving me and DH crazy. However, I know induction is not ideal in other ways--it may make it harder to have a "natural" childbirth (I don't want an epidural) and it's too bad the if little guy has to come out before he's ready! Though maybe it's not so much the baby but the woman's body that determines it's ready to go into labor naturally, and the baby may not be too happy with it even if things are allowed to progress on their own!
Had my appt today at 37+5 and I saw the only other OB at my practice that I hadn't met before so now I know them all which makes me feel good. Last week the dr told me I wasn't dilated or effaced at all and this week I'm 1cm dilated and 50% effaced which in reality means nothing but it makes me feel a little better just knowing that things are moving a little bit on their own! I still have the feeling that I'm going to go late with this one but asked the dr some questions about if I felt contractions how long should I wait to call etc because I was induced last time so I didn't have that experience. She was very patient and answered all my questions fully so it was a good appt!
Had a midwife appointment and met with our doula today- head down baby! Hurrah. Also baby went from sunny side up to left occiput transverse. @mellymar you'll know if baby is sunny side up if you have little feet and hands kicking out of your belly! Mine went from kicks directly in the front center (sunny) and have now rotated to kicks on the far right side. I can feel his back on my left side.
My midwife said baby is small but very healthy. So I guess that's good? She also said I have a low pelvis, and that I guess is good also?
So... Just had an ultrasound to see how big the baby was because my Dr thinks she's bigger then 36 weeks, they scared the crap outta me! The tech kept leaving, saying she will be back in a min, did that 3 times, then she came back with another tech, she checked me, then they went to get the specialist.... Aparantly they thought they were seeing 2 babies! At my last Dr appt, Dr said head was super low but at the ultrasound today it was up by my ribs and they thought there was a head down in my pelvis area... Specialist said after checking me 3 times that they were looking at her head from another angle down there, that it was the same head.. Heart.. Ect, I haven't been that scared in a longg time! I'm only ready for 1 baby lol Dr appt monday.. Cannot wait for that !
37w4d and had my appointment today. 2-3cm dilated and 70% effaced. Baby's heartbeat was a steady 142. Baby has dropped and head is low. Had some spotting after being "checked". but I think it has resolved now. Hoping this baby comes soon!
Sent to l&d to be monitored for my bp after the visit. It was extremely high in the 160s but when they checked it the 2nd time it was at 140. Hoping this time they let me go home, I had an anxiety attack the last time I went to the ob. So 2 weeks in a row I am being monitored in l&d. They scheduled my induction for 39 weeks so by midweek I will have a baby. Baby is measuring fine and it's heartrate is in the 120s. I am making progress with dialating, so that makes me feel better.
I had my 38 week appointment today and my OB completely set my worries at rest. Baby is not yet engaged but OB said that's totally normal and even with me being a FTM it might not happen till labor starts. She said she's pretty confident that LO is positioned exactly as she should be but even if she is sunny side up, that, again, could change during labor and even if it doesn't a c section shouldn't be necessary (nurse at prenatal class must've misspoke!) and what really matters is that LO is head down, which she is. Much to my surprise, I am 1.5cm dilated and 60% effaced! I know this means next to nothing, but it does make me feel reassured. And finally, while nitrous oxide is not an option for me, @ngaines27 was right in today's FFFC thread - the catheter can be inserted after the epidural, so yay! I'm still a bit disappointed about no nitrous oxide since it doesn't have as much of an effect on LO, but I feel much more at ease about the epidural now.
Takeaway from today's appointment: I need to stop worrying about everything and stop comparing myself to those of you who seem to be farther along in your prelabor process than I am. Baby will come when she comes, we're both healthy, and I need to take a chill pill. Thanks to all of you for not judging me for my nerves! Haha
Had my 36+4 appt today. Had a different OB than my normal one today, which was good to finally meet another Dr. who may deliver my LO. GBS came back negative, fundal measurement is right on at 36 weeks, and she said I am close to fingertip dilated. Pretty uneventful appointment. I am looking foward to at least 1-2 more uneventful appts before baby boy makes his appearance.
