In a wedding 3 weeks before due

please help! I have to order my dress and obviously have no clue what size I will be 3 weeks before my due date. I'm a FTM so no clue how maternity clothes or sizes work. I'm ordering the dress online and I was thinking about ordering a few and then just returning the one that wouldn't work but they only give you 10 days to return. Any advice? Thanks ladies!

Re: In a wedding 3 weeks before due

  • I am also in a wedding three weeks before. Are you ordering an actual bridesmaids' dress or are you ordering a dress from a regular retailer? Also, what is the style of the dress and what is the latest you can order?

No!!!!!!! I was in a wedding last week (may 15th) and I was exhausted! Not trying to make you feel worse, but this is going to be really difficult for you 3 weeks before you're due. This is my second pregnancy and I have easy pregnancies and I was still exhausted and had trouble getting around etc. Do you have plans in case you go into labor early?

If the dress was from David's bridal or something they could give you advice and are normally willing to exchange sizes. I guess I would order a couple. Everyone gains differently so it's hard to say. You may have to order very big and then have it altered. Good luck!

I was in a wedding about 2 1/2 weeks after my son was born. I just ordered the largest size they had (j crew) and had it altered.
  • Might just depend on the style and where the waist is.  If it's high waisted (right under your breasts) you should be pretty safe going a few sizes bigger.  Is this a dress already picked out by the bride or do you get to pick out your own dress?

I'm a personal attendant three weeks before I'm due.  I told her I'd be there but they might have to attend to me the whole time!  Not sure how much help I'll be.  Luckily there's two of us!

  • Yeah try to post a link to the dress. It really depends on the style. 3 weeks prior to your due date you might be exhausted but it's still doable. :)

My MOH was 3 weeks from her due date before my wedding and she ordered up 2 sizes from what she measured at during the initial fitting when she was 5 months. Then, she had alterations done the week before the wedding to ensure it was the closest possible size for her. We also ordered her dress with straps (the other bridesmaids were strapless) so she would be more comfortable during the wedding.

It was totally doable and she was able to make the dress work for her. Good luck!

  • I'm in one 4 weeks before and just ordered from alfred angelo. I waited until the last minute to order (which was the end of the 1st trimester) and took my size then and went two sizes up.

I was MOH sister 6 weeks after I gave birth to my son via c-section and am MOH for a friend and will be 33 weeks. I was HUGE my first pregnancy. I recommend an A-line dress style, it cuts under the chest and is very forgiving. Also avoid satin if you can because it is not as forgiving as chiffon or other materials. Good Luck!!
  • I went from a 2 to an 8 after having my first and David's bridal I always have to buy one size up so I bought a 10 and luckily it still fit me last week for the wedding at 19 weeks pregnant.
I did gain 50 lbs while pregnant though!
  • I would buy a size that fits me big in the boob butt and belly area and then get it altered if needed??? I gained 40lbs with my first...at that time I was a 00 and went up to a 4 by the end of my pregnancy. This time around im a 4 and now a 6 at 19 weeks...

I would get two to three sizes larger. You can always order extra fabric if you absolutely need to but the larger size should give you some wiggle room.
