Doula Gift

Hi ladies FTM here DH and I hired a doula and I was wondering if anyone has ideas for gifts? She's coming to the house to follow up with us 4 days or so after we get home, and I'd like to give her a little something then. Anyone have experience with this?

    i had a doula with my first son.... I didn't get a gift... I guess I kinda felt like I paid them a lot of money already.  Maybe it depends on how great of a job they do!   ;)   I'm curious to see what others say and what you end up deciding!

    I wouldn't give a gift, you pay them to provide you a service.. If they were volunteering to make your labour lovely then a gift would be nice but otherwise i don't think you have to

    We gave our doula a 100% tip, because without her I probably would have had our first on the hallway floor and suffered huge blood loss. But I digress.

    I think the gift should be reflective of her services, so a thank you card and a gift card for coffee or some all-natural, local body products might be more than enough. I would stick with consumables, since she probably doesn't want a trinket from each client. You can also offer to write her a positive review or be a reference. We'll stick with a card and cash since I know that will be appreciated.

    I should add, I agree with PP, you shouldn't feel like you have to get a gift. She is technically a paid employee. But if you have a great bond or she really goes above and beyond, it's perfectly acceptable.

    In our case, very bad things could have happened and what we paid for her services didn't seem like enough.

    Thanks ladies! I like the thank you card and something small! I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing the doula etiquette boat!!
