I need a diaper genie and a new swing...

I need diapers! Haha probably most important thing but I do have a closet full of adorable clothes!

I need to pre-register at hospital (will do tomorrow when I go on tour)..

I need to get my bottles in order and take inventory of nursing supplies...

Oh and I need to pack for the hospital!

Today I took care of the swing, diaper genie, diapers, and pre-registration! Now maybe tomorrow I will finally wash some baby clothes and pack that bag!

During my tour today they made a point to say that they supply everything you need except for going home clothes so that was good!

  • I had to go out and buy a new car seat. The plastic on the shade had broken and it was manufactured in June 2010. DH and I felt more comfortable getting a new one. Went with a Chicco KeyFit 30
  • Everything. We have a swing and a blanket. I'm so overwhelmed by everything that I just don't do anything. I have 5 weeks to go. Rest assure ladies, no matter how far behind you are, you are ahead of me.
  • Nothing, except watch all the recommended shows from you all on my other thread.. Thanks for all the input!! \:D/

still need to clean the whole apartment top to bottom,
de clutter and organize as well,
figure out my clothes and get DH to deal with his,
buy for and pack hospital bags for everyone(waiting on the free nestle pachage to arrive),
    install carseat,
should probably do the pregnancy classes (kinda pissed because my original doctor didnt tell me about the february ones, so i have no choice but the june ones, (which ill miss the breastfeeding one))
    stock the pantry,
and figure out the breast pump situation.

    i think thats it?
oh and probably buy some nursing tops.

    ETA: aaand more bras
  • Pack hospital bag and husband's bag
    some snack food
get some clothes for the little man
get a few last minute things
but I think I'm pretty prepared
  • mlindzzmlindzz member
Finish maternity leave application, install car seat, hang nursery decor, send out thank you cards, pick up a few last more things from the store, start thinking about food prep that could be kept in the freezer and try to keep up with some yoga. :)

And if things continue at the rate they have been, for every one task I accomplish another two are added to my 'to do' list lol
  • * Pack my "go" bag
    * Install the new window treatments in the nursery (should be delivered this week)
    * Have DH either put his clothes away or put them in laundry baskets (not on the floor!)
    * Have The Maids come and do a deep clean of the house
    * Set up the Pack 'N Play in our room (with bassinet attachment)

When you figure out how to get DH to put his clothes away can you let me know?!
My plan is to have a meltdown about it. He bought himself this huge dresser and it is basically empty because he will just live out of a laundry basket. His big "solution" to the fact that his clothes are always on the floor wasn't just to wash the freaking clothes and do laundry more often, it was to go out and buy more laundry baskets! He's absurd. At the end of the day, as long as I'm not stepping in them, I could care less if he is wearing wrinkled clothes.
  • I've got to:
    Install car seats
    Pack my hospital bag
Hospital Tour (left that wayyyy too late)
    Bring out and wash bottles
    Reorganize baby cupboard in kitchen

  • Sammy KSammy K member
    I feel behind.
    -hospital tour
    -birth plan
    -pack hospital bag(s)
    -install car seat bases
-maternity leave / short term disability paperwork
    -breast pump
    -dresser for baby's room
    -wash NB clothes
-sort DS clothes to see what we'll keep for DD
-hang curtains in the kitchen so I don't flash the neighborhood
-have DS pick out a gift to take the baby in the hospital
-make arrangements for the dog while we're in the hospital

I know I have 5 weeks but it takes twice as long to accomplish anything with a toddler. Agh!

I have quite a few things on my list still, but at the top is to wash my brand new diaper bag. We have the baby's nursery set up and I had the diaper bag on the floor next to the dresser, and of course with my luck, my dog decides to go into the room and mark the diaper bag as his territory. I was fuming! Had the thought of returning the bag initially, but that's just not ethical ;) so now just need to figure out what the best method is to wash it.
  • Would you guys be mad at me if I said I don't have anything ready for the baby. And I mean nothing X_X . I haven't bought her anything.

My baby shower is May 30th and I'm due June 20th. I kind of want to wait until I see what I receive as presents and go from there. I'm just worried I won't make it till my baby shower. (I had a dream I went into labor before the shower and I missed my own party :| )

You'll be fine! I waited until after my shower as well...

Oh no! That's kinda hilarious although I'm sure very, very annoying. I found my cat sleeping in the pack and play and couldn't even be mad, because how was he supposed to know it's not for him?

I also waited until after my showers to start really buying things - but my latest shower was 6 weeks before due date. If you're a FTM, statistically you'll probably be late but there are no guarantees, so just be aware of that. Everyone does things differently, so while I certainly would never flame you for not getting anything yet, if it were me I'd be at least a little stressed if I didn't have at the very least a place for her to sleep, a few outfits, and diapers. Procrastinating makes me anxious though, haha - if you're comfortable with waiting to go shopping, go for it!

I couldn't be mad at him of course, so I internalized my fumes... He's been good with everything else. I should be thankful it was just the diaper bag and not everything in the room. I bet that would be a cute sight, your cat in the pack and play :)
  • I have so much to do, it raises my anxiety levels. This is giving me a kick in the butt to move faster. A list will be made since doing anything longer than 30 minutes requires an hour nap.

    Home:
    Finish packing hospital bag
Pack a bag for the fur baby
    Dreeser/changing table (on back order)
    Humidifier
    Pack & Play
    Formula
    Bottles
    Bassinet
    Car Seat in car

    Work:
    Commencement Program
  • Everything is washed and nursery ready, hospital bags are mostly packed. Need to make meals for after LO is born and get DH to pack his hospital bag. Put car seat in car! (Takes up so much room!) andddd figure out who is going to take care of our doggie or if we are going to try and bring her to hospital and leave her in the car. Family can take shifts letting her out.

I would highly suggest for you to leave your dog at home and find someone (neighbor, friend, co worker, family member) to come visit and take him out for potty breaks and walks. It's not fair for a dog to sit in a hot car for something that could take 24 hours or longer.

    Absolutely agree!

Please don't leave your dog in a car... Call a kennel service or have a sitter let her out in her own home.

Also echoing not leaving the dog in the car. Even in 70 degree weather, in the shade, the internal temp of a car can climb to 100 degrees +. Ask a neighbor if they can feed her and relieve her, or have your family take shifts going to your house to take care of her. I'd hate for someone to go out to your car and find your dog having heatstroke and them miss your big event cause they are rushing the dog to the vet.

Or even worse someone calling the police and getting a visit from them or arrested during labor!
  • Is the hospital far from your house? If a family member could go out to the car to let the dog out, could they go to the house instead to do it?

I definitely wouldn't take the dog to the hospital parking lot.

True this. If I saw a dog in a car for a period of time (I can't say how long until I'm in that moment, I would be using my assessment skills to determine how dehydrated or overheated the dog was at that time and as time progressed) I would definitely go inside and get them to find the owner, and then if the situation was not resolved (as in, someone coming to take the dog home) I may very well call the cops. I would try very hard to NOT call the cops (it would be a solution of last resort), just like I think I should be able to leave an age appropriate child in the car for 5 minutes while I use the ATM without having the cops called on me. But labor is not a 10 minute event, and sitting in car in the summer can kill your dog.

Someone would probably break the glass if need be which I would imagine would be a major problem with a car seat in it!

I am so mad at myself for waiting so long to get ready... I am now anxious about the messy house and knowing how miserable I will be bringing baby home to a messy house where I can't find anything... And yet I am way too lazy to do anything about it... I cleaned a toilet today and literally thought I was going to die... And how may pee beaks before cleaning becomes a totally overwhelming situation?!!!

Yeah. I'm halfway between wanting to straighten up the house and halfway between just saying eff it, its going to get trashed after baby anyway. I'm compensating and trying to meet in the middle. I'm not going to take on any over ambitious tasks like organizing the whole guest room so its ready when my mom arrives, for example. I'm going to vacuum it and make sure the sheets are clean but she doesn't need for me to organize the shoe boxes in the closet. They can stay in a big jumbled pile in the closet. Stuff like that.

I hired a housekeeper a couple months ago to come twice a month. I'm not working full time and cleaning the house and being pregnant (then with a newborn). It's been great! I just said this is what it is and we're having one lol.

Also, on the car thing...definitely get a neighbor, sitter or something! I'd be worried sick if my dogs were in the car while I was in labor. on a separate note, I was going to the grocery and a car next to us had their dog in the front seat with the car still running!! Don't do that either lol.
