Morning or all day sickness

hi ladies! I am 6w2day pregnant and starting exactly 6w became very nauseous practically all day. I've been sipping sprite and eating saltines but any other suggestions??? Hard to eat healthy when you feel sick all day!

Re: Morning or all day sickness

  • No suggestions, but open to advice! I'm 6 weeks too and the week has been awful! Can hardly eat anything!

Pharmacist told me ginger gum helps - I've had some and it seems to help a little - don't take zofran heard its contraindicated in pregnanxy
  • Oh my! I feel like I am reading my own post... This is me too!! Am just eating as I need to and drinking lots of fluid - orange juice seems to do the trick. My nutritionist gave a list of all the good foods. But, she's also pregnant and said just eat what you can! Ha! All the best girls :)
  • I feel the same!

My daily "I hope they don't notice at work" kit includes a big thermos of ice water with thinly sliced lemon and a bit of fresh grated ginger (keep it in the freezer to make it easier to grate and to make it last sooo much longer), a handful of gin-gins (chewy ginger candies), and a bag of gluten-free crackers in my purse. I also recently discovered ginger "mints" at Trader Joe's (no actual mint in them, just a bunch of ginger) that are fairly mild but seem to help with nausea. And come in a cute Altoid-like tin.

For me, staying hydrated and drinking OJ first thing in the morning has helped a lot. I also wait til there is some food in my stomach to take my prenatals. I have had really intense nausea and kind of hilarious food aversions (declaring to husband "I CAN'T EVEN *LOOK* IN OUR FRIDGE RIGHT NOW!!!") but no actual vomiting. Yet. Hopefully I don't jinx myself by writing this.

And in case you are wondering about the time stamp of this post, I'm awake not with nausea but with the worst gas/heartburn combo! Blargh.
  • I looked on Pinterest the other day and there were lots of ideas I'd never heard of including sweet tarts. You may want to try looking there. Good luck!
  • @kimnjelly I'm the same way about the fridge!!! I'm having trouble with drinking stuff too..all I normally drink is water and just the sight of it disgusts me. To help nausea ginger tea DEF works!!! I drink it w my bfast first thing in the morning. Try and eat small snacks even if it's forced snacks every 1.5-2hr. The healthier the better but at this point eat whatever you can keep down! My biggest thing right now is food aversions and my sense of smell. I get grossed out by food and the smell of plug ins, candles, scented lotion etc. This too shall pass!! Hopefully with God speed [-O<
  • Oh my gosh, this could've been me who wrote this! Nausea all day long and nothing sounds good to eat. Haven't thrown up yet, but this nausea is awful. No advice, just letting you know I'm right there with ya.

  • I thought I avoided it this time... Wrong! Lemon scented/flavor things make me feel a little better. DH brought me home Lemonheads because he remembered that they brought a little relief. I don't really like ginger. I've been to two stores and can't find Sea Bands anywhere, those were a big lifesaver last time.
  • @Paige6410 how about mint? That helps me on the days ginger is suddenly on my "gross!" list. A sprig of fresh mint in some ice water or a peppermint hard candy might help. And how sweet about the Lemonheads! No pun intended. Hang in there. Hopefully we will all get our sea legs soon.

They also have ginger root in pill form in the vitamin section. This way you don't really taste the ginger going down. I also do not like ginger. My midwife just gave me Diclegis. It is a category A drug for nausea and vomiting of pregnancy. I haven't tried it yet, I feel like I need to save it for when I REALLY need it. LOL
  • This is my 5th pregnancy and I have yet to find anything to make me feel better other than time.  It stinks but is reassuring at the same time.

  • I bought gingerale and I poor some in to a glass and heat it up till it's warm. It soothes your stomach a lot like tea, and makes me feel better. It's useless if I have to go somewhere but at home it's very helpful for anyone who is suffering. I have been nauseous nonstop every day since 6 weeks . I'm 6w 5d. I bought peppermints, ice breakers sours, and preggie pop drops. I bring sparkling peach water with me everywhere, but I just want to cry and throw up all day long I'm miserable .....
  • I'm nauseated all day!! Today however, I've come close to actually throwing up.
I've looked everywhere for ginger candies, but I can't find it. :(
I've traded my spearmint gum for peppermint, that kinda helped. Im still trying to get into the eating habit ( I normally just eat once a day) but that makes me shake and feel even more sick.
PP I'm with you, i want to cry, sleep, and throw up all day long.
Ps. I work at a restaurant - so far *knock on wood* only slight food adversions, but nothing bad enough to make me drop a tray to go throw up... Yet... I'm praying that doesn't happen [-O<

No morning sickness for me yet but I read on a facebook mom's group that taking an antihistamine (benedryl/unisom; or just a half if it makes you too drowsy) plus vitamin B6 seems to work really well for people.
  • I've been nauseous and gassy all week. This is my third pregnancy, but I didn't have any morning sickness with my other two pregnancies (both boys) This pregnancy is already acting very different. Maybe a sign that it's a girl this time? Lol.

I wear Sea Bands (acupuncture bands) on my wrists all day. Drink water to keep hydrated. I also make sure to have a piece of bread with peanut butter on it right before I go to bed and then I eat a few crackers right when I wake up. Keep eating small snacks throughout the day so I'm never too hungry, or too full. All these really helped with my last pregnancy, and so far have helped with this one!

  • I'm 6 weeks 1 day and people have definitely started noticing at work. I'm so nauseous! I wish I could just throw up and be done with it. I work up two hours before my alarm feeling sick. Room temp liquids seem to help a bit
  • One thing I noticed today was that nausea is better because I did have a better night sleep and slept longer... I think when my body is tired I'm more nausea but man I hate it... it's like a bad hang over that never ends
  • Drinking cold water all day, gum/mints has been helping. If I have a dry mouth it makes things worse!
Last pregnancy sour candy (sour patch kids, sour jolly ranchers, lemon heads) all helped a lot!

  • I have all day nausea but it's actually worst at night these last few days at least. Lemon and ginger have helped slightly but I will likely take Zofran soon. I have to function for my kids' sake!

This morning was my intake at the hospital where I take a confirmatory urine pregnancy test and other tests but I was so nauseous that I couldn't go. I'm not only feeling mentally nauseous but my stomach is also feeling really awful like I'm going to throw up. On my way to the drug store to pick up some lemon heads and sour patch kids haha

I actually just threw up - anyone here nauseous and throw up? I do feel better. Do you eat bland foods? I don't want to not have any food in my system for the baby
  • Yesterday I was nauseous starting at lunchtime around 1 and it didnt let up until midnight. I got to the point where I was drinking powerade to stay hydrated and ended up throwing it back up :( it's gotten worse everyday since I was 6w - saltines are even starting to make me nauseous. Tomorrow will be 7w and I'm thinking about getting some B6 to try and get some real food in...this is my 3rd pregnancy (2 miscarriages) and I have to keep telling myself to be happy I'm completely miserable.
  • I'm only 5 weeks, so the nauseas hasn't hit me hard yet, but during my pregnancy with my DD, I had it really bad. Red Gatorade and Cheez-it's were my go to. I can still eat Cheez-it's, but I can't drink red Gatorade anymore because it reminds me too much of getting sick hahaha!

  • I'm 7w1d and it just hit for the first time this morning. Saltines and a few sips of ginger ale actually helped a lot. Tonight I'm going to put a baggy of four or five saltines on my night stand and eat them before I get up tomorrow. I don't know how you ladies have been functioning at work like this! Ugh, it's rough!  I'm going to try your suggestions if it continues though.

The food aversions just kicked in too. It's so weird! The simplest food seems revolting lol.
