Finding out gender or surprise ?

Hi mamas to be ! I'm in my 10th week of pregnancy with my Third child. With my second, DD , I didn't want to find out the gender but ended up finding out last minute because my son begged to know if he'd have a little brother or sister and I just couldn't say no while he was sitting in aw with us watching the US tech find the baby. I'm curious what everyone else is doing !?

  • I definitely want a surprise!
  • Loading the player...
  • This is our second baby and will not be finding out the sex :) It was my husband ideas so I'm hoping I can wait that long because it will be the best surprise ever!

  • I am counting down the weeks to find out. 9 more to go!!!
  • I figured this is my third, we Already have one of each, and we aren't having a shower so no one has to worry about what to buy. I think there aren't took my things in life to be surprised about so we need to take advantage of this one !
  • With this being my first, I really want to find out. Husband doesn't want to know but on this I trump him.
  • I give you ladies that are waiting props!  I'm kind of a control freak and I want a gender specific room ready before the baby's arrival, so I'm counting down the days!

  • Team green all the way! We did not find out with our first and will wait to be surprised with this one as well. We opt out of ultrasounds, so it makes it a little easier to fight the temptation of knowing when your just not having them done!

This is my first, and I can't wait to find out!!
  • Teen Green!!! We decided long before this pregnancy and I'm beyond curious but since we agreed, I'm going to stick with that and try to remember all the reasons why! We are Jewish so we don't have baby showers anyhow or bring anything at all into the house before the birth so it's not as if finding out would change much.
  • Definitely team finding out. It helps me to bond with the baby since I'm sick all 9 months.
  • We always said we wouldn't find out. Of course now that I'm pregnant, I'm dying to know!! For those of you who have kids already and waited, is it worth it to not find out? As corny has those cutting the cake gender parties are, I kind of want one!
  • Will be finding out in two weeks.Took the Harmony blood test yesterday since I'm high risk and had a second trimester m/c due Turner's Syndrome. Since I'm not willing to do an Amnio, I would like to cancel out Turner's by knowing if we're having a girl or not. Otherwise, I would like to not know. So many gender reveal parties that "I Can't Even"
    Due 11.16.17
    Baby Girl 12.9.15
    MC 2.1.15 @ 5 W - Chemical
    MC 4.7.14 @ 21 W - Turners Syndrome

  • We always said we wouldn't find out. Of course now that I'm pregnant, I'm dying to know!! For those of you who have kids already and waited, is it worth it to not find out? As corny has those cutting the cake gender parties are, I kind of want one!

I had a strong feeling my first was a boy and he was. But it was the best surprise ever to have my husband tell me seconds after I delivered that we had a son. Totally worth it!!!
  • We did not find out for the first and loved the anticipation. My husband is adamant about finding out for this one but I don't want to. The only reason I would find out is to know if I needed to change my nursery colors. We're in a big battle over it!
  • I'm still on the fence.

DH wants to be surprised this time around since we have boys and a daughter.

On the other hand, we've known with my other kids what their gender was prior to their births and part of me liked knowing that. I could refer to them as "him or her" instead of "the baby".

  • I'm usually against gender reveal parties but if my husband makes me find out I may want one. It may still be the only way I can somewhat be surprised than just by having ultra sound tech say it :-/
  • I cannot wait to find out. I'm high risk and get ultrasounds every four weeks in the second trimester on. I don't think it's going to be possible.

We are definitely finding out.  I think that has something to do with my husband and I being anal and then we can just plan, plan, plan.  Also, this might sound kind of weird, but I hate surprises when I know they are coming. I get really anxious, unsettled and just need to know.  We don't have our heart set on a particular gender, though I know DH would love a boy, and my gut is telling me a girl.  In the end all that matters to us is a healthy, happy baby!  I'm gonna call that team yellow.
  • We're definitely finding out. If we're having a girl I'll need the time to convince my son (he's 3) that a baby sister will be a good thing. He is very much convinced that the baby is his baby brother!! (He wants to name the baby either "super boy" or "rooster chicken". LOL)

I'm liking "rooster chicken" - haha.

Also - we're definitely finding out. Counting down the days!

  • Hubby didn't want to know but now he's dying to because he says he can't even start considering names until he knows. He doesn't want to have to think about both boy and girl names - he says it's overwhelming ... whatever. But I don't mind. I'm a planner anyway and we're doing genetic testing anyway so we may as well find out then! Couple more weeks :)
  • I have two little boys. We used the shettles method to conceive a girl. I'm so eager to know if we did it right!!
  • this is our first pregnancy so we intend to do a gender reveal party and find out with our family and friends
  • We'll be finding out. I had my first OB appt today and everything went well. I've got bloodwork being taken in 2-ish weeks for the Panorama test (like the MaterniT21/Harmoni test). It will also tell gender. So I'll be finding out very soon.

    Def want to know!
  • This will be my second and I wanted to keep it a surprise but DH will hear nothing of it. He wants a boy so badly he feels like he needs to know in advance if it's another girl so he can warm up to the idea.

  • I am the most impatient being on earth. I will find out ASAP.

  • I have one of each so I thought about doing
a surprise. But honestly waiting 9 months to meet your baby is so hard, it's nice to have something in the middle to look forward to. Plus I think my son is going to be bummed if it's a girl (has his heart set on a brother), I'd like to prepare him before the baby actually arrives if it is a girl.
  • Definitely waiting!  Everything about this entire process has been so controlled and scheduled (IVF), I just really want this one sweet surprise.
  • I want to find out because if it's another boy we already have clothes and all of that but if it's a girl I'm going to have to start stocking up on some tutu's :)
  • Surprise here too!!! Due date is December 26th so this will be the best Christmas surprise EVER!! :)

I will be finding out. I'm a big planner so I've got to know! I will know the sex in exactly 7 days!

  • We have our 3D gender scan set for June 14th. It's our first so we are dying to know. What we kinda want to do is find out the gender of the first two and hopefully they will be opposite genders (in a perfect world this is how I see things going lol). And then if we have one of each our third would be a surprise baby. That's way down the road though, so yeah for this one we definitely want to find out and start decorating the nursery. It's funny because my DH already has 2 girls so he is practically down on his hands and knees everyday praying for a boy so part of me wants it to be a boy for him, but the other part of me feels like if I have a girl first there's more of a chance I'll actually want another kid in the future so I want to have a girl first lol! I'll be happy either way though as long as it's a healthy baby <3
  • We are definitely finding out. We are going to have a gender reveal party but with a twist. My husband and I will know the gender and we will surprise our guests. My husband is a song writer (we live in Nashville) so I want him to write a song to reveal the baby's gender.
  • This is our first child were 11 weeks and do not plan on finding out the gender until birth. Weve been ttc for a long time so I've been buying baby things for over a year now and all are gender neutral. My husband wants a boy and I have days where I want a boy and days where a girl sounds pretty good too so I want to avoid any disappointment he may have if we were to find out the gender before the birth and it not be what he hoped for. I also want a natural labor and I think having a surprise will really help me focus on my goals. Also here's a pic of the nursery we plan on mimicking
  • I definitely want to know! I want to be able to prepare and get cute baby clothes ready!
  • Second baby and we are not finding out- again :) It was such a cool surprise the first time around that I'm not even tempted to find out with this one. But I love hearing what others learn at their 20-week apps! ;)
