  I don't even remember with my first. I don't think I really said anything to him until the pain meds finally kicked in.
  
  I'd love to pretend I will have something profound, witty, or funny to say but I'm sure it will be more along the lines of "Hello baby girl."

  The thought never crossed my mind! Good idea, now I'll be thinking about it as I push, I'm sure.
  I think with DD it was something like, "Whoah, she's so little and her cord is so short and twisty!!" Not sure I even really talked "to" her, but more about her to myself and DH. It was overwhelming.

  Normally when I see a brand newborn before it's been cleaned off, I think something like eww, yuck. Hopefully that won't actually be what pops out of my mouth...

  I actually had a dream about this last night. When I held him I immidiately said "the doctors were wrong you're not a chunky butt you're so tiny". With my first it was a "Hi baby girl, mama's here, everything is going to be ok" with a response of a sigh of relief. Best feeling in the world for the lo to be calm by the sound of your voice.
  
  I say go with the flow. After all the meds or pain and depending on what time of day it is we may sound loopy!

  @klkonwi Modern Family has a "Luuuuuke, I am your father" scene that's hilarious.
  And your high pitched "Hiiiiiii!" is also totally me. My friends and family mocked me for 2 years because I repeated that like 10x coming down the "aisle" in our wedding video, because I was so excited to see everyone!
  
  I am wondering if DH and/or I will be crying. We were both certain we'd cry at our wedding but neither of us did.

  Way too much planning ladies!  When you get that child in your arms, nothing else will matter.  I have no idea what I said to my child... I know I was crying and happy, but I couldn't recall the words.

  I think I was shushing my first because she was crying and "Happy birthday little girl." Once my niece came in the room we all sang Happy Birthday to DD. It was cute.

  Mom- "so you're the one who has been kicking me"
  And then I am hoping that my baby has a Bruce Willis voice and responds "well, you're the one who has been eating all that spicy food".
