Damn, I've been eating Jimmy John's and deli meat sandwiches here and there throughout my pregnancy!
I cannot wait to have sushi, sashimi, and a nice strong margarita on the rocks with salt. Omg, I can taste that margarita now....I'm drooling over here.
I'll probably just eat whatever the cafeteria offers though while in the hospital. Unless DH feels like being super nice and brings me some sushi.
Beer! I am brewing one this weekend I'm calling my "baby beer" so I have something fun to drink when my peanut gets here! I've missed brewing and craft beer so much.
With DS 1 I made DH go get me a strawberry milkshake (had GD) and a Jimmy John's sub (not heated). This time, I'm not sure, but I told him he may be sneaking me in a beer (especially if I have a terrible PP nurse again). I will probably make him get me something, but since I have a scheduled c/s in the early AM, I will probably wait until lunch and decide what I want then but a milkshake or a Coke will probably be on the menu Along with some type of dessert (ice cream brownie somethingerother of Jeni's Speldid Ice Cream which will open finally next Friday).
After delivery... Ask for a "cocktail". Have them make you a sprite/cranberry/orange on ice...it's absolutely delicious and refreshing.. (some just do sprite and cranberry)

Actually - sprite and cran is what I make when I'm at work and want something sweet to drink and have already had a Pepsi that day. I've been calling it my preggo cocktail. I also will make my coworkers make me one if I'm there as a customer. I only recently thought about adding orange... And only cause a bartender at a Mexican joint made a preggo cocktail with orange AND pineapple juice for me. It was off the chain.
Another GD mamma here. I told my husband I want a king sized Reese PB cups and cold milk. I will then swing by Dairy Queen for a blizzard on the way home. That first night home Hawiian Pizza. This is all pending doctors ok of course but it's all I can think about. And no eggs for at least 8 months! I can't look at another "GD" egg!

Will the nurses scold me for drinking wine in the hospital? After baby nurses the first time, they typically sleep for hours on end, right? Meaning...I can have some wine?
@dirtymartini I'm going to do it on the DL lol....... Most of my co workers won't care. I've turned my head when ppl have brought in liquor as gifts and put it in the cupboard. Some of my older co workers would flip. Just be sorta discreet about it!
i dont care what it will be. but i want a lot of it. most times i can eat very little without feeling uncomfortable as hell. so maybe some chinese food and frozen yogurt cause we'll be in the town that has some good stuff. so much food please.
I have GD and would LOVE French fries!!! But sushi and champagne also sounds amazing. Of course with the c-section and breast feeding who knows what I will feel like.
@devyns2nd@ngaines27 just out of curiosity - what's wrong with turkey? It's cooked through so I didn't think it counted as a deli meat which is more often cured not cooked?
I'm really looking forward to paté on crackers in the sunshine!
Cold cut turkey is like any other cold cuts - has potential for listeria. If I'm wrong someone please tell me! I'd sprint to the nearest Subway right now!!
Ah, lucky for me I'm a Brit and am following the guidelines of the NHS which says cold cooked meat is fine. I have been strict on what I eat according to the guidelines, and have eaten lots of smoked salmon and cold cooked meats (including turkey!)
Sounds like the States is more strict! If it's fine with the NHS it's fine with me
Even though I'm a bad pregnant lady and have eaten cold cuts and sushi every week during this pregnancy, I still am so excited after delivery (and a few weeks of bleeding nipples) to go to the all you can eat sushi restaurant and have EVERYTHING TUNA and a giant Sapporo.
It's a little shady so I didn't trust it in terms of freshness while pregnant, but I can't wait to go HAM when this baby is out.
TTC: 1/2014
BFP: 9/24
EDD: 6/8/2015
Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
Oooooo, food, lol. I like this thread, haha! I want everything I have avoided during pregnancy; bagels and lox, sushi, onion rings (heartburn city), a rare roast beef sandwich and anything fibrous that will aide in getting things moving, lol! A Dt Pepsi would be so lovely too.

I have lupus and deli meat has a big chance of carrying Listeria and junk. Most people can fight it off and most pregnant woman chance it and never get sick. I can't take that chance

ETA delis period are a no go for lupus and pregnancy. Even the veggies are considered unsafe.
Does anyone know if you can have bloody meat when breastfeeding? I want a medium rare steak like nothing else. If I can have it, someone is bringing me a steak at the hospital.

You are speaking my language. You're so much nicer than me though! I've already informed my husband he will be bringing me sushi! Haha.
@KarasTwin I had a great medium rare filet at lunch today. And last week. And sushi half a dozen times in the last few months. Oh and Jimmy Johns, Subway, and Jersey Mikes. So basically not limiting myself to anything except alcohol. And even then, I've had a couple half glasses of wine. Dang! I should be glad I'm alive lol

You're right! But honestly there isn't enough listeria to make a difference. Atleast that's what I was told. I didn't eat deli meat for the first trimester. But after I did I love a good turkey sandwich

So jealous. We had hibachi last night but I got mine medium.

I've also been wanting some red steak. We eat tenderloins a lot now cause I need the extra iron, but DH cooks 'em till they are DONE. (In his defense, I told him to do so to be on the safe side) I don't need my steak bloody, but a nice medium would be great
I have also really been wanting turkey. I broke down and bought some turkey from my grocery deli, and have been making myself turkey melts with some pepperjack and garlic jack cheese. The 30 seconds in the microwave to melt the cheese seems to set the turkey steaming (well, SOMETHING is steaming) but if it isn't, I DONT CARE. Mmm
If you look up the cases of listeria over the last couple of years, it's been found in Blue Bell ice cream, caramel apples, spinach, and cantaloupe. I found no huge outbreaks in deli meat, so I've decided with this pregnancy (my 3rd), that I wasn't going to cut it from my diet. I know that there is a chance of it growing in meats that have been cut and sit in your fridge, so I only get it from Jimmy Johns, and have had Panera twice. I figure they are going through such a high volume that the meat doesn't sit around cut for long.
I didn't stop eating turkey sandwiches, listeria is found more often in other foods. Every time I eat raw veggies I worry, it really is a crap shoot... Next year it will be "stay away from..." something else :-q
I know, it's silly - every listeria outbreak during our pregnancies has been in items that haven't been "banned". So yeah I've been seriously eyeing sushi and turkey subs and hotdogs the last week or two. But at this point I'm just gonna hold out because I made it this far, no matter how silly at this point. It's more me being stubborn

19 days to go!!
Only 13 more days!!
