UO??

Re: UO??

  • I'm planning to eat sushi through my entire pregnancy. I did a shit-load of research and feel comfortable with eating at my neighbourhood sushi restaurant, where I've never gotten sick and everything is really fresh.

The midwife i worked with did so much research on this...it is perfectly fine to eat sushi. I did with many of my kids. Not one problem. Eat away mama!!!

oh and referring to your own husband as another child really, really annoys me and makes me feel sorry for you.

I don't call my husband a child per se. But he wants the same amount of atthention and to be treated like our son. He is a little boy at heart. And I love that about him. He is an amazing, successful, driven man and still has that little one who loves to be taken care of. It's nothing to feel sorry for. It makes me love him more.
And no I don't call him my 2nd child nor do I call him a little boy. That's annoying.
taking care of your husband =/= treating him like a child. acting as if your husband is incapable of doing anything, he is an inconvenience to you and only adds to the problem is ridiculous. I'm a sahm and get majority of the housework done because when H is home I don't want to spend time cleaning with him, i'd rather do fun stuff in that time frame. But that doesn't mean I'm his maid and pick up after him 24/7.

Another uo- my husband and our marriage comes first, above our children and will always be #1.
Omg...i always catch hell for this but here i what i feel about this...my man comes first. My children get love and attention and everything they need and some of what they want. My children will grow up...they will move on and in the meantime i havw to make sure our relationship is solid. He will be all i have one day and i don't want to be sitting across from him wondering who he is and where all the time went. Now don't get me wrong...i do and do for my kids. But this is somethong very important to me and i am always told what a bad mom i am for even speaking such filth....
  • I am new here .. but thought I would come out with a bang - my UO is when people refer to their children with their first and middle name! It is called a "first name" for a reason, and unless you are hoping your child aspires to work the pole - 2 names is not necessary.

Agreed, but I guess my UO is that I just don't care that much. I don't mean that to sound terrible, but I'm taking the "things are going to go the way they go even if I don't see the baby every week" approach. I don't need to see it, I don't need to hear it. I have confirmation that it's in there and that's about all I need. I'm living day to day, my life isn't only about being pregnant, and I'm not about to live in a little bubble focused only on bringing this child into the world. If I start bleeding or cramping or have any other indication that something might be wrong, obviously I'll do what any pregnant mom would do ... but until then, I honestly don't concern myself at all about when my next appointment is going  to be.

  • @ bostonbaby1 - When that happens to me IRL, I say, "if only there was a way that we could find an answer to that question?"  It's usually for a question like, "what was the name of that actor?" Sometimes I have to use the line on myself...
  • UO: I think people use their cell phones too much. I feel like I rarely see a younger person (under age 40) out in public alone and they aren't looking at their phone.

Lol! I do stuff like that all the time too. I was more thinking about some of the posts that have been on this board and the fact that some people don't know that we are not Google;-)
  • My UO - I think Marijuana should be legalized and alcohol should be more regulated.

Oh and Camel Toes should be illegal!

Me TOO!!! I haven't even smoked pot in ages… And I don't drink either, but I'm old and boring now.

ANOTHER UO: I think that they should lower the age at which you can drink to 18 and raise the age at which you can drive to 21
  • Another UO:
I think they should require people who turn 60 get another driver's test...And every 5 years after that.

Funny...I did a speech on this back in high school.  We had to persuade the teacher on something and this was the topic that I chose.

  • I'm digging all the UO today!

My UO is when people breathe or eat loudly.  I immediately go crazy and if I could my face would get red, fire and smoke would come out of my ears, and daggers out of my eyes.  It is so painful for me.  All I can do is focus on the sound and then my body starts mirroring the speed and intensity in some weird obsessive way.

Oh you would hate me then!!! Lol I'm one of those people that chews and breathes loudly! I really try not to but I can't help it. It's because I'm deaf in one ear and I can't tell that I'm doing it. It's a big insecurity of mine.

  • I have a UO that will probably make some people throw flaming arrows at me BUT... I can't stand when people have an excessive amount of children and are pregnant yet again! I work in the medical field so perhaps this is why but, only have the number of kids you can honestly handle! This is not the time to be having 15+ children. Birth control was made for a reason!

Also, my hubby is very important to me And I can't stand loud chewers or crinkly granola bar/chip bag wrappers!!!
  • PS: I thoroughly enjoyed reading all the posts today because I am exceptionally grouchy. I don't agree with all of you but I have loved the free venting :)

I know it makes me a horrible person!!  I know people can't help it.  There are reasons why it happens, but it is like nails on a chalkboard for me.

My poor DH.  He gets a look from me everytime he drinks out of a soda can.  He does this thing when he gets to the end and there are a few sips left and he lowers and raises the can three times with progressively longer and louder sips until it is all gone.

Hahahah!! I feel for you!! I bet if I could hear that shit I'd go totally crazy too! I have hearing aids but I just cannot make myself wear them because I can't stand all the extra noises that I'm not used to. Like the air conditioning, the clicking in the fridge or whatever annoying noises you all normal hearing people have to put up with. LOL!

  • Oh man that reminds me of my DH!  I feel bad for him too, because lately I've gotten so aggravated with him for the way he eats.  If he's eating something messy like a burrito or ramen I can hear him "slurping" his food. It makes me want to pull my hair!! I didn't notice it until this pregnancy when I started having severe MS.

I'm glad people are finally jumping on the UO train! :) These are fun!
  • This is more of a personal thing and I honestly see why some people do it ... But I get really annoyed when people post that they heard the heartbeat at 8-10 weeks. Not only does it make me personally anxious because I still can't hear my baby's heartbeat on a Doppler but I see that it also makes everyone else anxious. Women start freaking out that they didn't hear it on a doctors Doppler at 11 weeks, even though the doctor isnt concerned. It is an exception to the rule to hear it that early!! It's great you can hear it super early, but keep it to yourself if you can! Especially when someone is stressing out about it and people post things like "well I heard mine at 8 weeks 1 day so not sure what's going on with you..." You aren't helping anyone!

I kinda wish it was like the old days and you went until 20 weeks without seeing anything. I'm a worry wart but sometimes all this new technology just gives you more to worry about!

    Ok end rant :)
  • Going along with the pot discussion, I wish they would either make it legal in all states or illegal in all states.  I don't, nor have I ever used pot so I could care less either way, but since it became legalized in Colorado there have been so many people moving here. There's traffic everywhere and commute times have at least doubled in the city.  It pisses me of and it's so frustrating!

Okay… So it may not be a UO, maybe more of just a fact that I am a hypocrite. I believe in the legalization of marijuana but there is no way that I want dispensaries anywhere near my neighborhood or near any of my commercial properties.

I also hate how repetitive some of the posts have become... For example, the use the search function post. It is annoying because if people would take the time to read through what the responses are as to why it is a good idea to use the search button then they wouldn't have to ask yet again... There are some things in life that there are just no avoiding. My UO is that if you don't like reading that post then don't read it. And if you don't like reading people posting please try the search button, then ignore it.
