That's not what they're for. They're meant for first responders so they know there is a helpless infant that can't get out on their own in the case of a car accident.
I assumed that first responders would check every car for all possible passengers. I understand the "tot finder" decals since in the event of a fire a house is a lot bigger to search through for a child, but a car?
Even if the car is completely mangled, there's still a massive car seat to help guide a first responder to where a child would be. I would think a 2' by 3' car seat would be easier to spot than a 4" square sign suction cupped to a (presumably) destroyed window.
I'm sorry @ravenbird007, that's BS. The sign was invented in the 80s for shits and giggles. If it was for first responders, the sign would be legally required.
My husband was like....OMG I bought us the best stickers for our cars. I was hoping for something super cute. It finally showed up int he mail....and he bought us stickers that said "There's a baby up in this bitch"! Not what I was expecting!
That's exactly what the baby on board signs are for. Sure they look dumb but as someone who previously worked as an emergency responder, it is extremely useful to know if I should be concerned about looking for a child. It's obviously not required but it's another item made for baby's safety.
This may have been said before. I will stop reading and/or ignore your post if you use bad grammar and spelling (intentional or not). It hurts my brain to try to read it. I absolutely hate texting shorthand and internet lingo.
"You know I was going to crash into your car with reckless abandon, but wait there's a baby on board? Yikes, I better not!" Said no one ever.
This is actually a common misconception. Realistically it's extremely unlikely that in a cat accident severe enough to throw an infant from a car that a sign secured with suction cups would stay intact. The sign is much more likely to turn into a projectile in such a crash and is actually a hazard!
I hate hearing people tell me "Oh I KNOW it's going to be a boy/girl". Ummm No, no you don't F'ing know. If I don't, you sure don't. And I'm already dreading hearing "Oh I KNEW it! I told you it was a _______!" You had a 50% chance of guessing. You didn't know.
BTW my UO: why do ppl think its OK to smoke around a school ..smoke free zone ASSHOLE!!!!! sorry for the language but it kills me , and then its the teachers smoking outside the school when the kids are in session.... WTF.... @-) !!!!!!
I live in California where we're having the worst draught like ever and it's raining right now and I hate it. I hate rain. Why do you think I like california so much? It's not supposed to rain. I'm ok living in a desert.
BTW my UO: why do ppl think its OK to smoke around a school ..smoke free zone ASSHOLE!!!!! sorry for the language but it kills me , and then its the teachers smoking outside the school when the kids are in session.... WTF.... @-) !!!!!!
Ugh! This morning when I walked my DD into school the air around the car drop off zone reeked!! Don't we know in this day and age you shouldn't smoke with your kid in the car!
My (extremely) unpopular opinion -- I really dislike reading religious comments (i.e., "it was God's will that we have another baby", as if your SO's penis had nothing to do with it...; or, "God has a plan for you", although the person the comment is being made to may or may not believe in your god(s)). I'm agnostic and DH is Hindu (although not religious) and it sometimes feels that we're bathed in a sea of Christian fervor.
(With that said, I'd never call anyone out on such comments; it's just a personal annoyance of mine.)
UO for the day. People telling me I have to do it naturally and I should have a midwife. Newsflash, You aren't pushing the baby out you don't get an opinion. I want doctors and medicine and the hospital. That's just safer to me.

o man don't get me started on that...there's construction in my sons school so all the cars park all weird on the street ...the other daysome ugly troll looking lady is puffing away with a baby in her car and she's parked right in front of were the kids are coming out !!!! I went over to the a.p and asked very politely but loud enough to be heard that they ask her to move! I felt so bad for the baby there's nttn I can do for that child it broke my heart!
I don't want to be rude but I find it strange that there are women on here that aren't expecting.
no no be rude ....its called the bump..I find it should not be allowed on certain boards its a total invasion for all we know they could be ppl trying to see who their next victims are! And if you are a chick specially on this board w.o kids or expecting you should be ashamed of being on here..n please spare me the its the internet b.s I'm free to do w.e ...YOUR A WEIRDO!!!!
@gabrielafrnqyepez Are you talking about BMB or TB in general? Or are you including the posters on TTTC, Loss, Adoption, Childless Not By Choice boards, etc. as weirdos?
I think it's silly that my school district only lets you play g-rated movies without parental permission. I mean I don't want to bring in like Chucky or even 50 First Dates. I would just like to be able to watch something like Despicable Me or Frozen with my 2nd graders these last few days. In all honesty the kids in my class have probably seen many, many movies that are much worse (some that I wouldn't even watch because of violence of sex) in their own homes than a PG Pixar movie. Maybe I don't recall the bad parts because it's and animated movie. But even the Willy Wonka (which is rated G) says hell. And so does Ratatouille.
I specified on this board as in oct15..ahoul have made that clearer...I am aware that there are boards for those trying to conceive and in many diff situations!
@gabrielafrnqyepez it also kills me when people smoke at the park with their kid (and more importantly mine!). Really anywhere that's designed for kids people shouldn't smoke at.
The women who aren't pregnant don't bother me. A lot of them come from the TTGP and other boards. It is a little weird when they come and stir up drama and do nothing else (like, don't participate in any other conversations).
I really dislike belly bump selfies. People keep telling me I "need" to take them. I can't handle it. I have a friend who posted a picture of her big naked belly and it really annoyed me. This is probably an irrational aversion I have, but frankly I just feel fat and bloated. No need to document that mess
I've only been able to take one, and I made my husband take it for me so I didn't have to do the awkward pose-holding-phone-in-front-of-mirror thing.

Obviously not. It's people who aren't even pregnant coming to this board or 2nd tri or conversely a mother of 6 going to trouble trying to conceive. People coming to boards not relevant to their condition who seem to only want to stir the pot
@leighann1, I get it. I have shared mine here but have not and most likely will not share on my Facebook page. I feel awkward in them, and it feels really personal to have people I know looking at my body.

It wasn't obvious. Her post said "it's called the bump." Which is why I asked.

Yes, maybe that's it! I really don't need my former students, old teachers, mom's friends, high school people I haven't seen in over a decade, on my Facebook page looking at my swollen belly. It does feel too personal.
When babies or kids clothes/blankets/car seat etc smell like smoke. My hubby smokes but please people don't smoke in the house and/or car with your kids, especially infants! I keep the nursery at church and I can't even hold this one little boy (4 months) because he reeks of smoke so bad... Pitiful...

I share some and I have yet to take one with my bare belly exposed. I think it's fun to see the growth but will keep them private more often than not.
if you guys read my statement it did say " certain ppl should not be allowed on certain boards" and then i go on to mention towards the end "specially on this board" i apologize if i did not word this correctly but i got a warning from the BG lol and i feel its uncalled for as i did not call out any one. i left it as a general statement.....IF THE SHOE FITS THEN WEAR IT!!!
I don't want to be rude but I find it strange that there are women on here that aren't expecting.
Really? Are you referring to the O15 board or on the TB in general? You do realise that TB is not just for expecting mothers right?
Yes really, and I'm referring to the pregnancy month boards. I know there are other boards available for TTC etc. and I don't visit those boards because I'm not TTC if I was I would visit them. So it seems odd to me there are some women floating between the different month boards commenting on these topics when they don't directly relate to them. The only boards I visit are Oct 15 & Sept 15 but only because I'm due Oct. 1 and could very likely have a Sept. baby. Again it may be an unpopular opinion but that's how I feel

and yes dear those are the ones I was referring to...its like me going to the adoption board and trying to put my 2 cents in when I have no idea what I am referring to....and then even worse me arguing with someone on there , when I have no business being there to begin w !?!!!!???
