HELP! Which Graco PNP do you like?

Hey ladies!

There are apparently 10 million Graco Pack and Plays out there! I was thinking I want one that can be used as a bassinet next to my bed for my newborn. I see a bunch of them have changers, vibrators, storage, or nothing at all. TOO MANY OPTIONS! I am not planning on traveling a ton with it, I am more interested in the newborn/baby sleeping at night feature and being able to change right there on the changer.  I read so many reviews and on some models tons of people were complaining the changers weren't strong enough and the baby would roll to one side because the changer was leaning.

Any advice/suggestions? What did you/are you going with? My shower is coming up at the end of June and I really would love to choose one so I can add it to my registry list.

Thanks in advance!

I've had several PNPs because each time I have a baby I tell myself I'm done, and get rid of everything! Gracos are great products! I selected a Fisher Price one this time around, but I wasn't so much concerned with the brand, just wanted particular features, and as you've said, there are so many! I wanted all the important features, but still at the best possible price. I got the Snuggabunny one (there's also a matching Rock n Play) with the bassinet, changer, diaper/wipe holder, and mobile...all for $100! I attached a pic (excuse the mess of the nursery-in-progress)! Good luck!

*edited to add that the changer on this one flips over out of the way when not in use, that's a plus!

  • We have one that looks just like this but a different pattern. I loved the storage underneath for diapers, wipes, blankets, and extra outfits.  I used the changing pad for a long time and the bassinet for a few months.  We didn't use it once our daughter was over a year but when my sister visits her son sleeps in it and it's super easy to put together and store it when we're done.

Have you had any issues with the changer not holding baby's weight? How many pounds do you feel comfortably with on there?
  • I'm only a first time mom, but I carefully chose my pack n play. I didn't want one that was completely decked out but I didn't want the basic one either. I picked one with a reversable changer/napper that detaches so I can use that around the house without moving the whole pack n play. I plan on letting baby sleep in the PNP in our bedroom for the first few months so I can easily breastfeed at night. She can start out in the napper, then there's the bassinet level, and hopefully she'll be crib sleeping by the time she grows out of the bassinet level.
  • I'm a FTM, but this is the one we put on our registry. We love that it has the removable newborn napper so I can take baby with me wherever I go around the house. When we played around with it in the store, the changing table did seem a little flimsy, but that's a problem with most of them I think. We didn't really look at the noise/vibrate functions because we probably won't use those at all.

I'm NO help!  I love the Graco pack and play we've had since dd1 was born - about 5.5 years ago.

It has the bassinet feature and the diaper change feature which I found GREAT when they were tiny/ upto 3 months or so.  It was very handy in the middle of the night.

    Good luck with your registering.

  • The one I mentioned above has a separate support bar(s) in the changer, which makes it very sturdy.
  • I have the pack n play with the newborn napper/reversible changer. The napper was great for the first 6 weeks! I didn't use the changer much, and didn't need the storage. I put diapers and wipes in the bassinet part while she was in the napper. Then we transitioned her to the crib and used the pack n play bassinet part downstairs. When she could stand, we lowered it and have used it ever since for daycare or traveling. I never had problems with leaning. I got a few sheets for it, which are not super soft like a crib sheet, but handy to have for leaks and such.

Not at all. I'd say we used it until she was about 13 months and I can't remember how much she weighed then but I'm guessing around 20 pounds. I wouldn't leave her on the changer by herself because she could obviously roll over by then. My son will be using the same pack and play so I hope he likes flower patterns!

  • I'm not sure if it's rude to ask a semi-related question on this thread, if it is, my apologies.

How necessary are pack and plays? We won't use one as a bassinet, both of our parents are out of state and won't be baby sitting for us. Is there a good reason we should get one?

  • We were given one with all the bells and whistles - changer, napper, vibration, music, etc, etc... And used none of it!! Just the actual pack n play. On the bassinet height at first then all the way down when baby started pulling herself up. @irenejean - We used ours a LOT. I liked having baby nap near me, and since we have a 2-story house n baby's room is upstairs, this was handy. Was great for taking baby outside for fresh air, and we took it with us pretty much wherever we traveled. Mine is still in pretty nice condition, so if you want multiple children they do hold up pretty well!

  • I originally was going to go with the Graco pack n play with attachments like a changer, but after reading the baby bargains book, they suggested that brand with just the bassinet insert. I registered for it. It was like $70. We will use it instead of an actual bassinet. We also were given another brand with attachments, so we will use that one at my parents.
