What To Expect When You Are Expecting

Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know that my copy of What To Expect arrived in the mail the other day… I would highly recommend it to everybody because it breaks down a lot of these fears that people are posting about. Of course, it cannot give you support, but it can answer a lot of questions and might be able to put a lot of people at ease.

Hope everybody has a beautiful day!

Re: What To Expect When You Are Expecting

  • Yes! I love What to Expect, it's put a lot of my anxieties at ease knowing what's happening inside my body and how the baby grows week by week.
  • Loading the player...
  • Another good book is "Your Pregnancy Week by Week.
  • I read this with my first pregnancy and it did the complete opposite for me. It brought up worries I didn't have before and didn't apply to me. I stopped reading after 4 months.

I heard this about "What to Expect," I didn't find this with "Your Pregnancy Week by Week"

My sister was supposed to send me her copy of What to Expect, but has not gotten around to it yet. I picked up the Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy in the meantime so I won't end up with duplicates. The Internet can be such a rabbit hole but I like having a good guide book to refer to so I don't take a left turn to Crazytown and become convinced that the baby and I have scurvy or something. :) Not that anything like that has, uh, ever happened to me. >cough cough< Ahem.

Found this at the used bookstore today. I'm two pages in and already learned some things I didn't learn from 10 books I read last time

When you get further than two pages in… Let me know if I should pick it up? Now I'm afraid! LOL… Not really but apparently what to expect as some scary parts! Xx

Yay! Used bookstores are the best! Are you a member of any online libraries? I actually change my opinion to say that online libraries are the best!
  • Anyone else have good books? There is a post today about the Ovia app. It's great but not nearly as much info.

Online library?? Ooh! Wait is that like the online section of a public library? I can borrow books to my iPad from my public library but they never have anything except cheap romance novels.

Hi sweetheart! How was your Mother's Day? I'm doing well but fighting off a really bad head cold. Not that I'm trying to complain though, it could be worse… I could have a head cold and morning sickness ;-) what's on tap for today?

Exactly! But you should definitely look into different public libraries… Some of them actually have really decent books available. The Boston Public Library has a good one and so does the Columbus (Ohio.) I can ask DH which other ones have good books available if you would like. How are you doing today?

I'm sorry, hope you feel better soon! That's the worst!
I really want a mimosa. Though a good poop would be pretty equivalent at this point. :)
  • My sister gifted me the Mayo Clinic Guide to Pregnancy. I'm really looking forward to it because it can be so scary to read things online, and I think I'll be comforted to just read facts from a reliable source!!

You can also join paperbackswap.com - you can post your old books you don't want and if someone requests it, you send it to them and get a credit for a free book! I've cleared out my library a bit this way and was able to get my copy of what to expect for free :)

    @313meg any success?

Thanks for asking about my shit. :)
No... Its been almost 2 weeks that since a "good poop". :(
I'm trying Metamucil, may add Colace to the mix with prune juice.
  • nik6499nik6499 member
@313Meg if you can tolerate it out a little butter in the prune juice and nuke it warm before you drink it, see if that gets you moving.

Like bulletprunejuice?! lol! I guess it's worth a try! Thanks Nik!

Haha I had several elderly patients and that was always their suggested way for us to prepare it, and elderly people can be an expert on their bowels lol. If this is common for you check with your ob it might be worth adding colace or senna to your daily routine just to prevent it from happening in the future ;) fortunately for me I can't stop eating junk and it's such a drastic change for my diet I am moving poo right along lol

  • I agree about adding co lace if the doctor thinks it is okay. I haven't needed anything yet (opposite problems-lol) but my OB will also allow MiraLax, which is a miracle. I'd check with the OB if Nik' prune/buter juice doesn't get you going. I'd imagine you're pretty uncomfortable after 2 weeks
  • @313Meg I was having the same problem! Do what @BostonBaby1 suggested! Try the MiraLax instead of the Metamucil that's what my doctor said because the Metamucil is just fiber where the MiraLax has a laxative to help you go. She also said 2 colace a day will be fine because that will just make it easier to go when you do but it won't help you! Hope you go soon! :P
