My switch to weeklies wasn't great. Dr. had a few concerns based on my history and sent me for a biophysical profile and non-stress test at the hospital. Baby is doing well, and all is good for now but they found some issues with blood flow in the cord (not in my history and unexpected). Now I'll be doing the same monitoring weekly, took the appointment time from 15 minutes to 4-5 hours but I'm glad they caught it and can monitor it. I just hope the baby continues to do well, as I'd rather avoid an early induction if its safe to wait for natural labor to kick in. Apparently these issues increase the likelihood that a baby won't tolerate labor well so that's something to be prepared for. Hope everyone else's appointments are uneventful. I think the very best thing is if these appointments seem like a waste of time.
@henrytviii sorry to hear the frustrating news! Good luck with the monitoring, I hope it winds up being just a precaution and that an early induction won't be necessary.
Had one today... Got GBS swab and examined... Doctor said I am starting to soften... Realize that means just about nothing... Asked her about my excruciating pelvic pain and about stopping work early... She said no leave until 38 weeks ... And the pain is "normal" .... So now I am trying to decide if I stop work at 38 weeks or 39 weeks (as planned)
My appointment was interesting.... I haven't been feeling well the last week. My doctor just told me to take Tylenol, fine whatever. Set up my repeat csection! Which I am happy we have a for sure date. Since I have gd set up ultrasounds and nst scans. Went in for my first scan and I was pretty much contracting the whole time. Sent to labor and delivery, got check and had my cervix ultra sounded and everything is closed up tight. So they weren't concerned about me contracting at all since I have probably been doing for hours/days/maybe a week. Told me not to worry about it. If it gets worse, or actually painful go in. So for now just hanging out till my next appointment and see if things change. Fun times....
Baby finally flipped! He's now head down. I was swabbed for GBS. She offered to check my cervix but said it won't mean much this early (I'm 36 weeks) so I passed.
The highlight of my appointment was seeing my chubster eat his hands on the ultrasound I haven't seen him since the anatomy scan at 20 weeks.
Highlight of my appt. seeing the baby suck his thumb and the dr commenting on how large his lips are! my husband has unusually large lips so it made us laugh.

Ugh sorry your doctor said no leave until 38 weeks! I know how it feels to be uncomfortable at work, it is no good!
Finally a happy update! Went in for LO's growth scan and baby is still measuring small, but at 5-5.6lbs estimate, a healthy small. She is doing everything she needs to be and looks perfect and healthy on all of her scans, just little. My fluids are on the low side, went from 9.8 to 5.6 (5 is where they begin to show more concern) so baby is a little squished in there and because the IUGR is still a valid diagnosis, I'm still going to be monitored 2 times a week. The big concern now is that I get plenty of rest, especially laying down so that the cord doesn't get pinched for LO because of the low amniotic fluid. The plan is to induce me in 2 weeks and I should be setting up the exact day on Friday. I cannot wait to meet this sweet baby and I am over the moon that she is doing so well and I am just on an excitement high waiting for DH to come home from work so I can tell him the news.
There is definitely a silver lining in all of this and I am so happy to have reached it and still amazed that I will be seeing LO in 2 weeks instead of 4.
@henrytviii, sorry to hear your news! Hopefully you can have your birth plan as originally planned! Just curious how they initially discovered the cord issue at your appt? Did you have an ultrasound then go for further testing?
Spent 5 hours at l&d with contractions 5 minutes apart. I'm only 33w 5d so they stopped my contractions, now I'm on restrictions and have to go back Friday. On the bright side baby is doing great

At the appointment they wanted me to have a biophysical profile and NST because babies heart rate seemed to drop a little too low. It was likely just the inaccuracies of the Doppler or low blood sugar. The cord issue was completely unrelated and found at the ultrasound. According to Dr.Google (I know, slap me) it seems like its not common. My followup with the specialist will be at the end of the week. In the meantime baby is cooperating by moving almost constantly. I'm mentally prepping myself for a possible induction since my mindset has been so against but I hope I can be cleared to wait longer. All that matters is a healthy baby in the end, not having my ideal birth story.
Had my 36 week appt today. I tried a new doc at the practice so I have some hope of recognizing the doc that happens to be on call when I deliver. I actually really liked her, more than my primary doc. She didn't make me feel like she had to rush to the next patient.
I took a gamble and asked her to estimate size of baby - my main doc always just says she's "normal size".
Well, this doc did, and said she's likely between 6-6.5 pounds - which is way bigger than I assumed. DH and I are not big people!
She saw my worried look and said that it's common to overestimate when the baby is sitting butt facing out, because she is feeling the biggest parts of her, so to not worry and that she could be smaller for sure. And that nature tends to "not give you a bigger baby that you can get out of you!".
I immediately thought of all the worried posters on here who open entire threads about this, and now I kinda get it! And I reminded myself that we always tell those posters that it's just an estimate
I've been sitting at my 36 week appt waiting (half naked mind you) for the past 45 minutes... Just popped their head in and said they haven't forgotten... Arrrrr!
I had my 34 week appointment yesterday (which was also my scheduled c-section date before my water resealed). My regular OB rescheduled my c-section to May 29th after consulting with my high risk OB's I had while hospitalized for three weeks in the last month. So I will be having her at 36 weeks and 5 days presuming I don't rerupture or have uncontrollable high blood pressure or preeclampsia. Excited to have an end in sight!
So went in today at 34w4d for regular appt. Nurse told me after vitals that in 2 weeks (@ 36 weeks) he'd do the StepB swab & then weekly appointments to check cervix. Okay. Then I meet with doc. {last appointment he measured her head & femur, which were measuring about 1-2 weeks ahead/bigger}. Normal appointment today. Then as I leave he says, "I'll see you next week to start cervical checks." & I'm scheduled for next week. I was tired & ready to pee again so I didn't think much of it until I got to the car. Did he move my due date up by 2 weeks?! (Since cervical checks don't usually start until 37 weeks). I called the nurse & she's calling back tomorrow for me to ask. Haha. I'm not worried, but would like to know. Guess it's my fault for being sleepy and having to pee!
@krystleshel He might of been mistaking and not looked at your chart closely. Checking you at 35 weeks unless your high risk is strange. Just reiterate your weeks before he checks you at your next appt

@klkonwi thank you!! Maybe the nurse will explain something tomorrow. If she's not sure, I'll just remind him of my weeks before he checks! Definitely not opposed to another peek at baby girl next week.
@krystleshel my doc started cervical checks at 35 weeks (since he was already in there doing the GSB swab). And I'm not high risk... I was also surprised as how not painful it was. Uncomfortable yes, painful no. And I'm a huuuuuuge baby.
I had my 36 week appointment today. Doctor said I'm 1 cm dilated. We did the swab for GBS. I was positive my last pregnancy so she assumed I'll Likely be positive this pregnancy and we are scheduling my induction for 39 weeks in hopes that she can control the speed of labor and I get the antibiotics.
I was GBS pos my last pregnancy and induced at 38 weeks. My labor was exactly 8 hours with an induction. They get concerned because I had a late term D&C which they said means I may dilate very quickly on my own and they want me to get the full 8 hours of IV antibiotics. So most people have inductions to speed up delivery and I have them to slow it down!
I had my 33 week appt today. My induction is scheduled for wed June 3rd as my bile acids continue to be severe ranges from the cholestasis. I had my gbs swab done and a cervical exam- closed thick and high as I suspected! The dr did say the baby's head is really low though so hopefully with lots of walking I can get my cervix to soften up a bit before induction day! I have 2 nsts a week and today's looked great! I also have an ultrasound weekly to check fluids and lo was breathing the whole time- the dr said he was fantastic!!! Lol so hopefully his little lungs will be ready! Setting the induction date sure made everything so real!!!! Ahhhh can't wait to meet him!
Had my first weekly appt today at 36+1. Not dilated but effaced (didn't say how much). Baby's heart rate is good and so is my BP. Buttttt found out that I tested positive for strep B in my urine earlier on in my pregnancy so he didn't do the swab test which is a plus side to that I suppose. Overall a good day. Although I do wish I was starting to dilate because I'm ready to get this show on the road!
I see a MW and OB interchangeably. I have GD my OB doesn't seem worried about my numbers but my MW seems to freak if I have one high number. Got prescribed meds that made my blood sugar bottom out so my weekly visit was a few days early. Got swabbed for GBS and checked cervix (1cm and very soft). I have to do NST twice a week and they found protein in my urine which makes me nervous. This pregnancy has definately been rough compared to first. So ready to meet my little man.

Had an apt today - 36 weeks 5 days. Still 2 cm dilated and apparently about 80% effaced! Dr. also said he can feel the water bag bulging... lol. Had our last ultrasound. Baby is approx. 5 pounds 3 ounces and looks very healthy. We saw his little head, femur, belly, and heart. Also saw his little lips and nose and I couldn't stop crying. I stil can't believe there is a healthy baby in me. With the sweetest little baby lips ever. Good appointment. : )
Had my appt yesterday. 36+4. Had gb swab and cervix check. Was 1cm and soft cervix. When I was induced last pregnancy with GD at 39 weeks I had a hard cervix and was completely closed so that makes me hopeful things may move quicker if my body is already doing what it's supposed to. (I know I could be wrong- just a feeling that I have). I don't have GD this time so won't be induced. For some reason I am nervous to go into natural labor as it's unpredictable and being induced there is a "plan". Have a nice week ladies!
Had my weekly BPP and NST this morning. Baby looks great, doing lots of practice breathing and still covering up that little face with an arm. Looks like everything's going to stay a secret with this little one!
My BP was up a little, unfortunately, so of course they made me pee in a cup. Negative for proteins. They still sent me down to my regular OB's office for lab work which involved a blood draw and peeing in yet another cup. The MFM wants me to up my BP meds. I got a little annoyed when she mentioned the possibility of having to take the baby early. I wanted to say, whoa lady, hold your horses!" I mean, I've been on the lowest course of treatment for PIH, have had absolutely zero pre-e signs and I haven't even been put on bed rest. I think there's a few more options here for us to try before jumping to inductions. Especially since I get normal readings 95% of the time at home. So, we'll see what next week brings and just bumping up the labetelol (sp?) will do the trick.
Had my 36 week appt this morning. Only gained 5 oz in two weeks which is shocking I've gained the least amount of weight this pregnancy compared to my other three and it's not a bad thing. He's measuring right on schedule, not dilated at all and was swap for strep b. I still can't believe we are all so close to the end already.
I've been on the weekly appointments for 4 weeks now, had nst today, then bp is still high, even though they increased my medication. Not terrible just high, so then I got to do a u/s to make sure baby fluids are good, fluids are fine, but I have to capture all my urine for 24 hours and bring it to the lab (can we say super gross?) so Sunday will be spent doing that. Also had to hav emore blood work done with the bp issues now there is talk of inducing me at 37 weeks. I'll be 35 weeks tomorrow, I'm super freaked out. DH just keeps asking over and over what else I should be doing to lower my blood pressure (maybe not listen to dumb questions that have been answered and talked about numerous times), and that of course raised my blood pressure even more because now I feel like he thinks I have some control over the bp to begin with! But most importantly baby is in good shape, I'm still here and we are super close to the big 37. hope everyone has happy appointments this week!
Just wondering how "advanced" you are? I'll be 39 in June, but my midwives aren't doing weekly US... Is it bad that I would love to see LO every week? (I know it's no fun if you have any high risk issues that necessitate so many US, I just love seeing him....)
I'm now 2cm and over 80%. He said her head was further down than my cervix (He had a technical name for it but all I could focus on was how painful it was during the check... )and that my cervix was funneling which is great sign labor is near, as it should be I'm almost 38 weeks!! He put me on "watch" with the hospital and said she is coming whenever she likes but probably by next weeks appointment. I'm taking that with a huge grain of salt. Baby comes when baby comes.

Not sure who this is directed to, but I'm AMA. I just turned 39 in March. Other than being "old", I've had a great pregnancy, no high risk issues. My OB's practice just does weekly sonos if you're 35+ starting at 35 weeks. While I loved seeing her again today, i think weekly sono's until D day is a bit much.
Re: Weekly appointment check-in. (Week of 5/11)
discussed my anxiety over this breech baby so hopefully we can look and make sure and I dunno.... I'm just too anxious.
