Baby boy name, please... HALP!

I've lurked a lot of boy-name posts hoping to find inspiration, but most seem to revolve around having a few picked out and asking opinions on those few...I have..uh...none.  I prefer names that aren't overly used (i.e. all Biblical names are out), while the boyfriend prefers more "traditional" names (although the only name he's offered so far was Ayden...not exactly traditional?). Can y'all help a girl out? I seem to like NOTHING. The surname sounds similar to Ford (which really makes me want to name my son Harrison, but bf is not on board haha!).

I've even asked a few coworkers for ideas, but they've just taken it as an annoying opportunity to suggest the most ridiculous names while I just say "no...no...that's dumb...no."

Re: Baby boy name, please... HALP!

  • The new social security name list for 2014 came out maybe check that out and each pick a few name you like, once you have a few names you like put them all into nymbler.com and it will give you similar styled names.  Without really knowing what style or any names you like it's hard to give suggestions.

  • I love the name Roman but my SIL has always been very vocal about that being her ultimate favorite boy name for when she has kids. I can't take it from her. Use it! nameberry.com is also a really good site in terms of giving better suggestions for names you "kind of" like.

That's a strong name; I like it. But one of my best friends has already "claimed" it too, haha! I like some traditional names like Henry or James, but I prefer less over-used names like Bennett, Hudson, etc. I look at name lists and either they all blend together or I just get frustrated because none of them "speak" to me, haha! I'll try namberry though!

    What about Griffin or Atticus?
  • I love the name Arlo. We wanted to use it but we are having a girl. Maybe next time!

  • We recently changed our boy name from Theodore (Theo) Roland to Lennox Roland. For our first child, had DD been a boy, she would have been named Silas.

  • Love Griffin, Corbin, Brycen, and if your maiden name could be a first name that's always a good option with a meaning! Ex)Harrison, Laird, Howard, Clark
My maiden name is out of the question!
  • My hubby and i only agree on Ryan
  • What about "Ayden" spelled traditionally? Aiden.

I was considering Griffin but I think it may be "too edgy" for the father haha...

@JamieDubs my surname will sadly not work at all as a first name....I do enjoy Harrison but baby daddy isn't feeling it.

@babealertz that's actually the only name my bf has suggested, but it rhymes with Cayden - his ex gf's son's name...and she likes to "compete" so I don't want to remotely look like I'm copying her...or give my child any name that will remind me of her really. I don't think he made the connection though....

  • Were using alexander
  • I love the name Cooper but my brother already used that. I am having a tough time with boy names too. Everyone I know has boys and have picked my favourite names already! :(
  • We have picked out the name Paul (after my dad) but I also really like Nathan... Nate is too cute for a boy ❤️

I love Lucas (or Luke) but it was just taken by one of my friends :(. My brother who is terminally ill is Frederick so I am hoping dh will let me use that for one of the names (maybe go by Derek). I also love Lee, Everett, Rhett, Cole, Rylan, Grey, and Gavin

Dh wants to name our son Crockett. I am not even kidding. It's a family name but NO NO NO
  • We are naming our son Gavin James

We're having a boy and can't decide either. So far our list includes Sebastian, Simon, Kai, Leo, Dominic
  • One of my nephews is Avery Peter. More common for a girls name, but I love it for boys.

Our boy name is Declan with either Xavier or Wyatt as the middle name. Or possibly Norman as the middle name.
  • We are naming our little one Andrew Lucas.  He'll go by Andy :) Still traditional, but you hear the name less and less these days.

I love Mason and Harrison! But his nephew's name is Mason and he's already shot down Harrison :(

I'm trying Emmett and a few others out with him today to see what he thinks. Most likely he will hate them all....

All my family names are meh...I don't like any of them remotely enough to use them (and the majority are female!). He has Drew, John, and Casey. But we're planning to have the child take his last name, and I don't like any of those names. Names are hard! They're for LIFE!  :-?

  • My favorite name for a boy has always been Jake. My ex knew this and knowingly named his dog that after we broke up. Prick.. (Small town so I can't use it now).

My next favorite is Finley (call him Finn for short) but my fiance's favorite is Lincoln. We decided that we would use my favorite girl name and his favorite boy name. Obviously, I was pretty confident peanut was a girl when we made this deal... now I'm not so sure haha.

Other favorites of mine that were shot down were: Kai, Mason, Ryder, Jack, Ben, and Wyatt.

I find paying attention to literally everything will help point out ones you like. Example: TV shows, client names from work, asking kids you know who their best friends are haha, etc.

babymazzei  Haha I have been paying extra attention to every customer's name I see, every book/tv character's name....and the lists...aye aye aye. I feel like I've suggested so many and his Daddy likes NONE of them. I really love Henry for a classic name, but it's the last name of someone neither of us like (him more so than me since he got screwed over by the dude), so I understand his aversion to that one.  :|

  • Our favorite boy name is Theodore and Theo for short. It meets all our criteria - traditional, easy to say/spell, not too common, and it doesn't hurt that it's "presidential" ha!

  • @Babypetersen1 it's like you read my mind... your list is practically the same as mine. Hard 'C' names, variations of 'Max' etc. My top 3 though have to be Beckett (Beck), Lincoln (Link... N64 all the way baby!) and Damian. All with the middle name of Joshua. How many of these do me and my husband agree on, however? 0.
  • I really like Connor
My husband's family tradition is the first name John and each has a different middle name. I don't mind continuing the tradition but i want to go out side the box with John Darcy and call him JD

I too love Beckett....bf did not. And Link is the bestttt!

I think we're leaning strongly towards Logan (like Wolverine, haha!). I didn't even consider it as an option initially as I have a friend with a 1 year old son named Logan. However, they wouldn't be in the same school system and we don't hang out all that often (and she loves the idea, she doesn't feel like I'm "stealing" it) so now we just need a good middle name!  :D

@adcoxmt my sons name is Logan and people compliment it all the time. It's not crazy popular. And who doesn't want to be named after a super hero!!!

We're having trouble coming up with a name for this baby boy
  • We agreed on Declan Jack... Jack is my hubby's Dad's name and I like that. Declan is Gaelic and means "full of goodness"....

He REALLY wanted to name the kid Peter (our last name is Parker).... I had to veto that immediately.... I'm not having spiderman....
  • I don't know, @ELParker814 ... I think I'm siding with your SO on this one... that would be boss...

@kgregson411 that is an awesome list! I've only run a couple of those past my bf so he may find one he likes on there! I thought we were going w/ Logan, but apparently he likes it as A name, just not THE name....wut?  :!!
