Vote For a little boy. We liked Anchor because of him we are settled down and grounded. Starting a future. And Luca we both thought was cute. Christiano sounds too much like my name.. "Christina"
Luca is a better name in my opinion. It's awesome that he has become an anchor in your lives, but I'd put that on a tattoo, not a birth certificate :-)
Anchor \a-nchor, an-chor\ as a boy's name is of English origin, and the meaning of Anchor is "stability". The object as name. Most likely a surname used as a given name, possibly originating as an occupational name.
Anchor has 2 variant forms: Ancher and Anker. Anker was popular back in the day lol.
Sounds like you really love Anker. I say go with the name that you and your husband really want and don't worry too much about what other people think. I'm not crazy about Anker as a name, no matter what the spelling, but it's your son to name :-)
Side note: the spelling of Anker reminds me a lot of canker when looking at it, so if I chose that as the name, I would go with Anchor
Yeah, definitely Luca although I like the symbolism behind Anchor. My cousin just named his babe Luca and it is so fun to look at him and say it. It's such a great name!
I really like Anchor. And he's your little baby, don't let other's opinions on the name be a part of your decision to name him. Go with what you want. Both names are adorable. My son's name is Draco and everyone has had something to say about it. Just go with what your heart says dear.
I honestly like both a lot. Luca is a regular name but still not very common, and Anchor is obviously a little more out there, but it has a nice ring to it and meaning. I would have a hard time deciding! If you choose Anchor, I would spell it like that. Like PP said, Anker seriously reminds me of canker, not a pleasant image lol. Ancher looks like it rhymes with Rancher. It's a really unique name! These days nothing is too weird, and honestly I don't even think it's that weird compared to some of the other names out there.
Since you like Anchor for the symbolism, maybe try looking up other names that also mean stability? I tend to put a negative connotation to the term "anchor" when it's said it regards to a relationship in life, but as others have said, that's just me. I love the name Luca, but I agree with @mrscaterosales, do what makes you anf your hubby happy.
Personally I would choose Luca. But it sounds like you really like Anchor, and it also sounds like it has a strong meaning for you. If you go with it go with the "Anchor" spelling.
You keep coming back to defend Anchor. Why not middle name it then? Yes you can use whatever name you want BUT Luca is going to look better on resumes, its going to present better, it's less likely to get made fun of, people will respect Luca more than Anchor. Sure people use lots of unique names but it doesn't mean it's always the best idea. I get the feelings behind it but the middle name is a great place for that, tattoos are a great thing for that. You can't follow your child through life and defend or explain why it was used. He is the one that will be introducing himself to everyone, applying for jobs, going to school, meeting future in-laws and realistically speaking, Luca is going to present better than Anchor.

I'm all for meaningful names, but I am 75% British heritage and I have never even heard of anchor as a name. However, as a sailor, my first connotation was a big heavy metal object covered in seaweed.

I like the way it sounds, I like the way it looks, I like what it means - it's strong and beautiful and meaningful and unique. I think it's fantastic.
