Just my husband! Everyone else in the waiting room! We share everything with family, engagement, wedding, birthdays, etc... Time to be selfish, this is our time. One moment we will not be sharing with anyone.
I'm only having my husband but not because I'm modest. Birth is an intensely sexual experience so I want to keep it between me and the person that helped make the baby in the first place!
Just my husband. I have bad anxiety and he's the only one that helps calm me down.
I don't mind family there while I labor but when delivery comes - get out. I might end up wanting my mom when the time comes but I am thinking probably not. I love her but she can be a little intense so I am worried that will stress me out. DH's 12 nieces and nephews are gonna want to come see as well. My SIL's kids get sick all the time so I really don't want the germs. I'm gonna try really hard to not freak out. I just hope they wait a day or two to let me adjust or even better after we are am home.
Husband, midwife, midwife's assistant, my doula. We're planning a homebirth so probably also my mom or sister to help with my 2.5yo. If we transfer to hospital, just husband & doula will come (plus medical team of course!). For my first I wanted to be left alone in the dark soaking in the tub, the fewer people around the better for me
I think my husband only I would like my mom but then I'm pretty sure my mother in law would want to as well and I wouldn't want her In there wouldnt be comfortable with it.
It will be just my husband and our doula. My MIL and mother would make me nervous. I feel that it will be a very personal experience for us, and I want it to be as simple as possible. I think we will ask family to hold off on visiting at the hospital, too.
Everyone needs to remember that this is your delivery and your baby. If you don't want people to come visit for a certain amount of time, let them know. Or if people come unannounced and you don't want them there, tell your nurse. I never had a problem being the "bad guy" for a patient in my L&D nurse role.
My husband, mom, and MIL. My mom has been a labor and delivery nurse for 36 years now. I feel like I'll be better off with her in there with me. Plus she's my mom and we are very close. She's helped all of my cousins give birth and I'm excited for her to finally be in there with me. I've always joked with her saying that she can't retire until I've finished having kids (this is my first) so she has a few more years. My MIL and I have always been close so my husband and I definitely want her in there as well.
Re: WHO ARE YOU INVITING TO ATTEND THE BIRTH?
Just my husband. My parents and in-laws don't share well so they can wait in the waiting room.
