December 2015 Moms

Are your SO doing anything for you for Mother's Day?

My husband was talking about how we can't forget to get presents (his mother and sister) and I was like "oh what are you gunna get me babe?" His response was that we are poor... And a couple days earlier he said I wasn't even a mom yet. Ouch. THEN he actually wanted to go do the nasty... Yeah right >:P

Re: Are your SO doing anything for you for Mother's Day?

  • My husband surprised me with a massage tomorrow morning. It was groupon so it was cheap. It was sweet though. But we already have a 3 year old so he's on the hook.

  • Nada. I rarely get anything. Maybe a handful of mother's day in my over 20 years of being a mom. No biggie. Been on my own with my kids for almost 3 years now. And my ex never did anything for me. Not on any holiday nor bday.
  • We didn't do anything the first Mother's Day I was pregnant.... Now we have a 2.5 year old so DH usually does flowers and takes me to brunch or dinner. He came home with flowers today and had The little one give them to me.

  • Not that I know of. DH said something similar about not being a mom yet. Even if he hadnt he is pretty terrible about holidays and we don't make a big deal out of them. We are going to see Phantom of the Opera that night with my mom and sister but thats something we planned that he is just tagging along for.
  • My DH wanted to do something but I said I didn't want to jinx it because it's still too early(sweet thought)
  • Aww well at least your husbands made an effort, mine is just a butt. He then asked what he was getting for Father's Day... What?! If he doesn't consider me a mom yet why would he expect something for Father's Day? But because I'm me, I'll most likely do something cute for him... Lol he's such a jerk sometimes
  • We bought each other books for Mother's Day and Father's Day during my first pregnancy.

  • My DH is out of town this weekend, so nothing for me for Mother's Day from him. Which is totally fine. We've been crazy busy and are about to move out of state next weekend. But my best friend sent me a box of the most delicious chocolate covered strawberries ever with a cute card to go along with it. I was totally surprised. It was very sweet of her.

My husband joked about this being my first unofficial Mother's Day then said we should do something for it.

He left two hours ago to go camping for two nights with his friends.. Guess he forgot he was planning something for me!

Ugh now I have to cook for myself AND do the dishes..

Honestly no my DH isn't because I just couldn't take that right now. Especially after our first loss. I only want to celebrate Mother's Day when I have a child in my arms. But I totally understand everyone may not feel that way.
  • I have had kids for 20 years. Bf hasn't had any of his own. But for fathers day i am getting him that dude book lol i think he would enjoy it.
  • He's cooking me dinner. :)

My mom passed away almost three years ago so I haven't done much for Mother's Day in the past few years. But this year a bunch of us are going out to brunch together. Don't want any presents from the hubby just good food. Haha
  • I got a big thing of fruit, a ballon, a rose a card from "baby" and he took me out to dinner which we wound up getting to go because my tummy was turning. I kindly reminded him if he planned on marrying me he'd be making me a stepmom in addition to a mother to the one I'm carrying. He knew it was expected, just didn't expect as much as he did. He's working tomorrow so wanted to make sure I got everything tonight.
  • Yeah, I am also first time expecting so not sure how to feel about celebrating mother's day. DH asked me what I wanted to do for "my" day, it really surprised me and made me happy. Maybe we'll go out for some nice brunch just like @amw2133

  • This is my 2nd Mother's Day and DH made a big deal of getting something for his mom for a couple weeks. I didn't say anything till today when I was like, oh what are you getting me? Usually he's really good about it and almost always gives me something early. His response: a hug. Gee thanks. #superpissed
  • DH told his friend today that we are canceling Mother's Day this year! He said it because we're moving and cant take Sunday off from packing. I let him know that Mother's Day was still on as far as I was concerned. I'd be happy if he cooks me breakfast. We'll see what happens. I know he's exhausted from moving furniture all day.

  • I'm away from mine this Mother's Day :( but he said he's sending money so I can take my mom and grandma out to a nice Mother's Day meal and get some flowers for me to enjoy while we are apart. He's so excited for my first Mother's Day, and his first Father's Day next month :)
  • DH bought me roses with a card from Baby and a little silver heart pendant with "mom" engraved on it from Tiffany's. I was completely blown away and starting crying, as usual. I wasn't expecting jewelry, especially from THAT store! He's never gotten anything there before. He definitely scored big points today!!!

We probably won't go out, because he's on call for work and my stomach is iffy.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you!!

  • We are telling the fam for Mother's Day. My gift is going to be watching my mother and 5 years younger sister (mother of two already) FREAK OUT!
  • The fact that it's 10am & I'm still laying in bed in a silent house is plenty for me ! :D

I made a remark in passing about getting me an ice cream cake from dairy queen for mothers day after seeing a commercial and my hubby glared at me. Mothers day isn't for wives, it's for our own mothers. Sigh.

So. I guess it's just another day cooking, cleaning and doing laundry for me. Frustrating.

Eta: I tried to sleep in this morning, relaxing in bed and DH kept telling the pets mommy would get up and feed them.
Me: "the maid isn't on duty 24/7, you know!"
Dh: "no, you get time off to go to work."

    I'm up.
  • Since Im only 6weeks+a few days, the pregnancy is still hush hush so I guess I still consider mothers day for my mom and mother in law. We are going to break the news to them this morning.
  • I wasn't sure what my DH would do, and didn't say anything in advance, because I could see how he might not do anything (a friend didn't get anything from her DH a few years ago when she was pregnant with her first, so I knew it was likely). But mine surprised me with flowers!! He did good! And we are cooking breakfast together. Really made me feel special, especially since we haven't told many people - first appointment is FINALLY this week on Wednesday!!

I wasn't really expecting anything since we aren't big holiday people, but he surprised me with flowers! Its my first pregnancy and I'm secretly emotional (in a good way!) about it all :)
  • I got roobos tea cuppachino due to the coffee cut from my diet. And bubble bath. Small but very cute

I got a txt this morning  (whoo hoo)

  • Mine folded all the laundry and told me to go lay down. Best present ever!

I was able to sleep in today! With a five year old in the house, it was really appreciated. He followed it up with making me breakfast, and then he helped me clean up the house.
I couldn't have asked for more!

Tell him that his gift for Mothe F**kers Day is that he gets to remain alive. Lol!
That's what Father's Day is after all... My Dad was the BEST EVER but we always have a running joke that the day should be called that.

My 3 year old and 18 month old both picked flowers outside and gave them to me, so that was sweet. Hubs gave me a whole lot of nothing and didn't say "Happy Mother's Day" until our daughter reminded him. I'm pretty hurt. At least the kids remembered.

Aw, my sweet husband planned a day out for this MTB but I'm feeling so wretched that I asked him to postpone til 2nd tri...

Instead he woke me from a nap with a lovely potted orchid for my bedside and loads of organic strawberries, cherries and citrus fruits (which is all I can keep down these days), then spent the afternoon looking after my poor neglected garden. Way more than he should've done for the barely-alive zombie he married :)

DH took his parents (who we just told yesterday about their new future grandchild) and I out to my favorite neighborhood restaurant that makes amazing chocolate chip pancakes. He also surprised me with a Mother's Day card for an expecting mom (who knew they even made those) which obviously made me cry. And then lastly cleaned out my car after the ginger ale I keep for when I'm feeling nausea exploded all over because it got too hot. Whoops! :)
  • Hubs helped my littles make a card and he surprised me with a pregnancy pillow. Best. Gift. Ever. I'm ready to go to bed.
  • The way I look at it is, I am a mother from the moment I found out I was pregnant. This baby depends on me to thrive & grow. I have to nurture it, as a mother would there already born child. So while I didn't expect gifts or a lot of hoopla, I did want hubby to acknowledge this day for me considering we've been trying to conceive a year and a half. Last year on mother's day was extremely tough on me since we had not been successful in getting pregnant, so even though it's fairly early it made me feel special for my husband to acknowledge today for me!

My hubby surprised me with a tempur pedic mattress: we had discussed getting one but not until after this next deployment. So excited!!! I'm so hoping it helps with my back pain and staying cool through the night.
  • My older kids are not by my boyfriend and he seen I was having a bad day (my mom can be very selfish) and he went and got my a dozen roses and cute vase and movie for us to watch together.. I ended up sleeping most of the day and he helped take care of my other 3 older kids.. All in all he made my whole day
  • My hubby got me a mother to be card, flowers, my favorite candy, and a love letter. He is so sweet and thoughtful.
