Hi All!

FTM here and working on my registry/organizing nursery. I am 17 weeks along. 

Been trying to make a decision regarding cribs & crib mattresses. I've decided that I'd like to splurge of an organic non toxic mattress, but wondering whether the crib is an area where it's ok to save a little $? What is the difference between buying an Oeuf and a crib from Ikea besides hundreds of dollars?

Would love to hear from moms and to be moms on what swayed you in one direction vs another. Thanks!

    We got a mid-range crib primarily because of the look and style. But, I don't think there is much of a difference between any crib as long as it is safe and up to modern standards!

    We bought an expensive convertible crib and it is my biggest regret. I wish we would has bought an inexpensive crib (they all have to meet the same safety regulations) and splurged on a nice bedroom set later. The convertible cribs' footboards always look to high once converted to full sized beds. We did buy an organic mattress to avoid the flame retardants used on the non organic ones. It was able to be used in the toddler bed too so worth a little extra.

    Thanks @HWKI ! I actually took the plunge and bought an ouef sparrow. Reasoning was that we wanted something non toxic plus we def plan on having more than one, so we will reuse the crib and buy another set for the oldest :) which mattress did you buy? Any suggestions?

    I can't remember the mattress brand off hand- I had to get it online and it was a very small company that only made organic mattresses. This was almost 5 years ago, so there weren't any organic mattresses at the "big"stores. I am sure there are many more choices now.

    Nothing. They all have to meet the same safety requirements. I see no difference between my $500 crib, and the $100-something Ikea cribs that my nanny kids have (besides style). And, babies are like beavers. They don't care how much money you spent on a crib, they are going to sink their teeth into it. My daughter didnt chew on ANYTHING.....except her crib.

    I did this too and wish I wouldn't of. The full size bed is nice but I wish she had a daybed now since it would fit better in her room
