so I am 11dpo and took a test today expecting bfn but, I think there may be a very very faint line! Hoping it keeps getting darker and I can join all of you! This was our first cycle ttc after a miscarriage. Congrats to all of you!

Ladies, if you knew the type of health history I have been having to get to his point on being pregnant, I would find offense to ALOT of things in this site. I've tried to just reply to the first person who said something but sheesh let's be happy for the person who started this post and move on instead of pointing a finger and saying how offensive something is on her thread! I think it's known what I mean, why change it into something else. Either way, instead of bringing that word that is the opposite of life on here, let's just be happy for her. It's called scrolling past what you see, enjoy the website, and MOVE ON. It wasn't intended to offend, stop making it that way. My goodness.

It was simply pointed out to you that it was offensive. Say ok, learn from it, and move on. It has nothing to do with your history.

It's offensive, period.

Also, you cannot dictate who responds to your posts or how.

I was just trying to let you know so you'll refrain from doing it in the future. Just put on your big girl panties, and move on. There are many other ways to express positivity without using that phrase.

Really? Three different people have just politely confirmed that using that term is OFFENSIVE. Show some respect to those it is offensive to whether you agree or not.

EXACTLY MY POINT. If I went around correcting whomever, it's best to get off the Internet, no? It's the INTERNET, it's not intended to hurt and I think taken way to personal. No one knows who's going to read what. So why catch offense to everything??? If I were like you ladies I would be catching a hoot about a lot... But I'm not. It's just something you scroll by and move on, and assume the person doesn't mean to hurt anyone. Think about it, why would I intentionally mean to hurt or offend anyone? Except that it makes ZERO sense to not give any thought to the audience of the community in which you are participating.

If you want to be a part of the community here, then YES, you need to think about the things you say before you post them.

It was simply pointed it to you that it's an offensive term and not viewed in the way you intended it. Take it, and you move on. You're not going to win this argument, I can assure you.

It's was more of the fact that she got so defensive instead of just acknowledging that she didn't know it had a negative meaning and moving on. She kept coming back and defending her poor choice of words.
Hopefully she learns from it and doesn't use that phrase again!

@leonmelbaby I just want to point out that no one said they think you are purposefully trying to offend people. You were obviously trying to be supportive and that's great. On other sites 'baby dust' is a common thing to say. Here on The Bump, the community as a whole doesn't like that phrase. Easy enough to say, 'oh I didn't know' and move on.

@DaphneMoon1 morning, @ashhsa said kind of what I felt. like just the way that it was portrayed kind of sucked, and then One looked up my profile to find out how long I've been here??? Of course I wouldn't intentionally hurt anyone but no one likes to be schooled either or ganged up on. Before I knew it the one was talking about my grammar???? Like when did I do that to you? But hey it's like I need to watch what I say cuz I will be schooled on the bump! Lol kidding! But either way I don't care, point taken. Just like I could've said hey i get it and move on, someone more seasoned on here could've said it nicer too, and I've seen that ganging up business on other threads and it just rubbed me the wrong way... Some of the same ladies involved. Thanks for explaining though @DaphneMoon1

^ this. Nobody has said you were trying to offend people. I've only been a member on this site for a little over a month, I lurked for about two weeks before I started posting and during those two weeks I learned pretty quickly which things the community doesn't like or considers offensive. If you didn't know, just say "sorry" or "thanks for letting me know" and move on!
