I was going to start an U/O thread but I think we may have exhausted all of them... But a new gripe and complaint thread is always fun... Feel free not to participate if you are choosing to be in a better place than that but I find it helpful to localize gripes and commiserate with others in place of doing it in real life!

I am tired of too many symptom posts most of which are repetitive...

I also can't stand when people do newborn photos with those angel wings... It is a little too morbid and creepy for me.

I'm with you! Also, this is definitely an unpopular opinion so no offence, but I am not a fan of the big bows on infant girl head photos. Sure, a petite bow or flower is cute, but seriously the size of the child's head? Too much imo.

I wasn't gonna complain about it but since the thread is here now, i feel like it was divine intervention to let it all out.

Ladies, my friggin A.C./ heating unit has shit the bed this week. Wahhhhhhh so we've been getting estimates today to find out how much this is going to cost since it's 100% something i cannot do without as a pregnant lady coming into the summer months. Thankfully the upcoming 10 day forecast has nothing really over 80 so we'll make it with our fans but seriously whyyyyyyyyy does this crap need to break promptly as the most expensive season to replace it is beginning?? Sooo that's an easy $8K out the window. We can thankfully afford to take care of this one way or another, it's just so wretched when we're trying to save up for a new house and a new car (mine is slowly starting to kick the bucket). oh well

Money.. amiright?!

Wtf with my annoying ass neighbors. They're not annoying in the traditional sense (loud or messy or whatever), they're annoying in the opposite of the traditional sense. Its like a keeping up with the Jones's thing, except in this case the Jones's are my neighbors who only live there during the summer - spend most of the fall, winter, and spring in somewhere warm, are retired and have tons of money and time to put into making their yard look perfect, and look down their noses at us and do passive aggressive shit like put up a fence *only* right by our patio - nowhere else - so they don't have to see us when we are outside. Excuse the hell out of us, people, for not having the money to own two homes and thus pay a lawn maintenance company to treat the yard for bugs and have to do it ourselves. And for my husband working a full time military job keeping your waterways safe so you can go out and enjoy that boat I see over there sometimes. And for him working a second job that prevents him from weeding the flower beds on the regular. And for me being a month away from having a fricking kid so I can't really go out and weed, either (bending over? Hell no). Screw you people. I hope your perfect lawn dies this summer

ETA - p.s. - I also hope my screaming kid drives you batshit till you back to your rest of the year home

In the waiting room at the doctor a middle aged woman was texting on her phone and the keypad made a dial tone noise each time it was hit for each key stroke. I almost slapped the phone out of hands.

Just back from our week checking out our new city. Our hotel was a hellhole - woke up at 6:00 am on Day 2 to a pouring leak in the ceiling, and DH screaming "WTF" (actual words, not abbreviation). We switched rooms. The heat was jacked up, and after I complained three times, they gave us a wrench to fix it. Either the place was a brothel or one lady was having the best night of her life - loudly. No internet in room, and wifi in the lobby couldn't even load email. Ugh.

I know we are spoiled and these are total first world problems, but a crappy hotel can seriously ruin a trip. Ugh.

Ok, over to the thankful thread now...

Oh amark! You remind me of the lady in Mary Poppins who is feeding the birds. You just cant help yourself even though the pigeons are just glorified rats with wings. And I love you for it! What else would I do with my time! I totally got warned for wading into the September boards a few weeks ago so I get the urge! And now that I have a lot more traveling under my belt I have abandoned the "Its not like we will spend much time in the hotel anyway" attitude. For god's sake I need a decent bed, and yes I am an unabashed spoiled american first world girl. I've spent too many nights in rock hard beds in Asia to ever go back. And Europe gets just as bad and even more dingy.

I thought international travel would make me more open minded and accepting of the beauty of other cultures. Like I thought I was going to love strolling to the market with my little bag everyday. Instead I find myself really appreciating my big ass car that i park at the front door of a big ass grocery in a big ass spot where I load up on a bazillion pounds of food to keep in my big ass garage 2nd deep freezer. Is it gluttonous? You bet...but its also damn convenient. 'Murica

I just feel really gross. I'm all hot and sticky and DH has offered to turn the AC on like 3 times tonight but I'm being stubborn and saying no because I don't want to spend the money. So clearly this is all my fault... but I'm pouting anyway. Boo.

Ohhhh today, today.

I worked a full day, went to a breastfeeding class and then had a train delay home. It's so late and my body is rebelling.

Every public transit I took today was full of sh*theads. Two trains on which not a single person offered to get up for my visibly pregnant as*. At one station a lady asked if I would mind moving. YES I WOULD MIND. Then some guy was panhandling at the station. One guy gave him money. I let him know after the guy left that he's a regular with the same line every day. He snottily replied "I know but I prefer not to judge people". Eff you guy, I just thought you might want to know. I work for a nonprofit, I don't need a lecture about not caring about humanity.

Ugh today just needs to be over.

OK, mine is really petty, but I've found myself totally annoyed when I'm alone in the restroom at work, someone comes in after me and, with an entire wall of stalls to choose from, they go straight to the one next to me.

I've always liked my personal space but it's worse, since, 1, I'm huge (ie. my space bubble has expanded), 2. I pee all the time and 3. I've had a cold this week, so now I just want to be left alone to loudly hack up a lung and blow my nose.

haha this is a thing for me too. too stubborn to spend the money it'll eat up now, when it gets so much worse in a few weeks. ive just resorted to spending most of my time in the bedroom, which stays cooler than the living room.

It's the opposite for us... there's a hole in the screen of our bedroom window so I refuse to open it because bugs will fly in. I've been hanging out in the living room because, with the ceiling fan on and the window open, we usually can get a decent breeze in there. But sleeping at night has been hell. I'm pretty set on going shopping for a new fan for the bedroom this weekend - the tiny one on DH's dresser isn't cutting it!

I also lurk on May because my original due date was in there...and it's making me terrified for a month from now when every single post is:

Why hasn't labor started?
What can I do for labor to start?
I'm 38 weeks and I've had irregular contractions when is baby coming?
My membranes were swept do you think I'll go into labor?
I've had contractions every ten minutes but L&d sent me home, why?

Maybe I'll have to take a month hiatus so I don't lose my mind..but I don't want to miss all the announcements of your cute babies.

That's my gripe for the night. I just wish there was a sticky that said BABIES WILL COME WHEN THEY COME UNLESS YOU HAVE TO BE INDUCED IF WE KNEW HOW TO MAKE LABOR COME WE WOULD BE MILLIONAIRES.

Ok I'm an asshole in a salty mood tonight for some reason.

Ok, so I know it's a popular opinion to be annoyed by the repetitive symptom posts. But my UNpopular opinion is that I wish people would skip over them rather than taking the time to comment that they should post in the daily symptoms thread.

My UNpopular opinion is that the daily symptoms threads annoy me because they are so random and long. I'd rather read a specific symptom thread with and it's 10 related responses than to read 6 pages of symptoms. And if I'm not interested in reading about hemorrhoids for the 37th time, I can skip over that thread.

Rant over.

@423ang well done, lady! I think you've posted the actual, maybe only UO! (Internet tone is hard - am being genuine not sarcastic).

I don't mind a few thoughtful symptom threads (heartburn and hemorrhoids for example, since they can actually be given advice for specific meds and be done).
I do mind when a) there are multiple threads on that symptom on page 1, and b) when people ask if being tired is normal. That is a level of stoopid that I just... Can't even...

Baby Center just released the list of most popular names this year and our top choice was #16 for girls. FML! That was my top goal, to avoid that! I've never heard of other Evelyns and now all of the sudden... Am I that out of touch? And now I'm panicking that we should switch. So annoyed for this to strike me at this late stage!

First of all, if my toddler could stop waking up before 7 that would be great. We have pushed her brine back just so she will stop waking up early and being a whiner the whole day but....it isn't working! Ugh

Also, I've asked husband to take over one chore. One. Filling the dishwasher. But if I don't remind him he won't do it which I think it such crap. You're home a whole night with nothing to do and you can't remember to do one job?! So this last 2 nights he's forgotten and now we are going out of town so I'm going to have to wash a crap load of dishes so we don't leave them all weekend. UGH!!!!

Walking through the grocery store a worker is stocking diapers at the end of an aisle, I walk by completely minding my own business, thinking nothing of him and he goes "hey ma'am looks like you're going to need these soon! They're on sale!" F you dude, don't talk to me.
I know people are trying to be friendly but it's SO friggen irritating. Just leave me alone!! Ahhhhh

Our compromise boys names are on the list in the 100s and 200s. Not too bad, but I wish I hadn't found them before I gave up looking at 350. I didn't see our girl name, tho, so that's cool. I also didn't see my 'choice' boy name in the first 350, but DH wasn't that hot on it, which is why we have compromise names

Ours is #24... But I've yet to see any other ladies on here say they are using it!

We are still naming our baby Charlotte, after my hubby's grandfather that passed away suddenly (Charlie) and I just don't understand what's wrong with a popular name? Or why people would totally change what they've been planning to name their child just because someone you don't even know named their baby that? I guess my thought is if you liked it enough to choose it why would you think of changing it?

I think generally what happens is that new parents haven't actually been around that many kids, at least not since they were kids. So they hear a name and it sounds unique but not *too* unique because in their limited experience they've never met a kid with that name. So they hear "Ava" and they go "ooooh like an old movie star how unique ive never met any avas (because they are all 2 years old)" they don't know many kids since only a few of their friends are breeding and are SHOCKED to find 5 Avas in the kids kindergarten class.

Anecdata to prove this: my friend who was a straight up 80's kid has a letter from her deceased mom written while pregnant talking about how she chose my friends name. How she loved how special and different the name was and how it was one of her favorite male literary characters and was "edgy" for a girl....The name was Ashley...ASHLEY in the 80's. See what I mean?
