Weekly appointment check-in. (Week of 5/4)

I figured I would start a weekly thread for how our appointments are going since we are getting close to the end. Most of us are probably going every other week or weekly at this point. Go ahead and share how they're going!

    Same here!!! I'm 33 weeks
  • That's how all my appointments have been up to this point (vitals, urine dip, Fetal heart rate, measuring of uterus). Now that this week is my 36 wk appt I know I get my GBS swab and probably the start of cervical checks. I may defer this weeks cervical check because I don't really care what it is and when your cervix is posterior before labor it's really uncomfortable (I made a whole symphony of groans and noises when checked at 32 weeks).

Hopefully I have zero exciting appointments.
TTC: 1/2014 BFP: 9/24 EDD: 6/8/2015 Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
  • Mine have been pretty meh, too. Pee in a cup. Fundal measurement. Listen to heartbeat. Any questions? Ok, see you in 2 weeks. Next Friday is my next appointment (my last was this past Friday), with the dreaded swab for strep b. And then after that I go to weekly, and the doctor did mention cervical checks, so I guess those could start at that time. Bleh.

  • I'm 32 weeks today and have another ultrasound appointment for growth. Baby keeps measuring small but then they do an ultrasound and she's fine. Guess she just hides in my torso well. As much as I love seeing her I could do without especially since the last few times she was fine size wise once they saw her. It does make the pregnancy go by fast though
  • I just got done with my 36 week checkup. Pretty routine but I asked them to check my cervix since I was already undressed for the gbs test. It's still completely closed which was disappointing. I know it doesn't matter at this point, but with all the contractions I've been having it would have been nice of my body to make some progress.

I had an apt this morning! 33w6d's

I'm still 1cm dilated and 50% effaced (have been since 31wks). Baby's heartbeat is great, he's happy and healthy! Doctor says his head is very low and he's facing sideways (explains all the kicks I'm getting on one side), doc thinks little man is weighing in at around 5.5lbs! :)

Could arrive any day now or decide to wait until his original EDD in 6 weeks.

I'm also measuring small. I measured small with my first from 32 weeks on. I had extra ultrasounds and a visit to the fetal specialist. Then he was 8lb and totally healthy at birth. This time around my OB isn't too concerned. I'm much less worried too. :)

36 week appointment today. Still measuring slightly small and have to return to weekly U/S :-/ group b strep wasn't horrible as I expected. I assume cervical checks will start next week.
  • Everything was just fine this morning. Just your standard bp check, pee in a cup kind of visit. I do get NST's and everything looked good there. I shotgunned a Coke I had brought with me about five minutes prior while I was waiting for them to set up the NST room, since it had been about two hours. I didn't want a sleepy baby, because then it takes longer! The did have to put me at this odd semi on my side angle, since my little troublemaker like to play hide and seek with dopplers. I have to see the MFM for my weekly biophysical scan. Hopefully since my OB did the NST today, I can skip that part tomorrow and get out of there quicker. Corporate America makes juggling all these appointments and not eating into my vacation or sick pay tough!

  • yesterday I had my 35 week appointment and learned that I am 90% effaced and 1cm. I don't think the original due date is still on! Instead of June 8th, my boy may be a May baby :)
  • Hmmm you all have had lots of ultrasounds. I had one at my first visit plus the off-site anatomy scan at 19 weeks but nothing since. I am going to bring this up at next appointment this Thursday for sure.

That's the usually protocol for a healthy pregnancy. You don't want more trust me. I'm on my 5th because baby is small and y cervix is short. I'd rather a healthy baby, be able to work, and not be afraid of pre term labor

Weekly nst stares in Monday. My 36 week will be next Monday. Nst and cervical checks until the end. Csection scheduled for June 1. A little over three weeks to go.

Andplusalso, they're not cheap. I've basically already wiped out my HSA with all of these extra visits. Plus the added inconvenience of trying to juggle all this time out of the office without burning through my paid sick time/vacation time. The sneak peeks are fun, the waste of time and resources, not so much.

Had my appointment this morning, 35wks and 6 days. I'm measuring at only 35 wks (big difference huh) but he scheduled a U/S next week to check growth of baby. I have a scheduled c-section at 38 weeks due to placenta previa.

I also haven't gained much which I have overly expressed my confusion about my lack of weight gain the entire pregnancy with no good response/explanation. Dr FINALLY wants to address it today, looks at me all weird, and asks the dumbest question "Have you been eating?" Seriously?! Are you JUST now paying attention?!

Ok sorry, rant over. Glad to see other appointments have gone well!

Trust me let it be. There was nothing wrong with my pregnancy until they did one at 27 weeks. Since then its been 5, tomorrow will be 6 in the last 2 months. Definitely not cheap and they get upset because baby doesn't cooperate and moves around too much to get good measurements.
  • 34wks5 and had my check up today. She has been checking me since 30-31 weeks, and today just 1cm. Nothing fancy. My weekly appointments start next week, until delivery date. Scheduled induction for June 4th, but she doesn't think I'll make it until then.

Just had my 33 week appointment. I've been having a lot of contractions (non-BH) so he checked my cervix and it's closed. Thankful for that. I'm also still measuring 3 weeks behind, so I had an ultrasound to check baby's growth. Everything measures perfectly! He's in transverse (sideways) position, so doc thinks that is most likely why I'm measuring off. Doc also says if he doesn't shift head down on his own I will have to have a c-section as he will not attempt to move the baby for me. The thought of a c-section is terrifying, so I'm praying he shifts soon (I know there's plenty of time). We will do another ultrasound in 4 weeks to check his position. So grateful for a good report and for the extra peak at my LO. Here's a pic of his toe touching his nose. :)

There's a far amount of information online about turning babies.  Not sure how much of it works but it can't hurt to try some of the exercises & positions.  I'm fairly certain that my LO moved to have his back against my back yesterday.  Dr. was already concerned about positioning as he seems to still be flipping.  I don't think he's been breech much for a while but all the sudden Sunday/Monday all of his movements/kicks are in different places than they used to be and they seem to indicate spine to spine position.  My lower back hurts as well, and it hasn't to date.  I'm sure this is just me over-thinking it but I've already delivered a sunny-side up baby and don't want to go through that sort of labor again so I am trying some exercises.

Did your Dr. say why it has to be a c-section for a transverse baby? I thought many of these babies would turn doing the early stages of labor.  Any chance they could let you labor for a while and make the determination later?  I know many of the sunny-side up babies turn as well.  Mind didn't even through the nurses tried several techniques to turn him during labor.  Obviously different situation as it doesn't indicate a C-section but seems like it would be worth seeing how the baby turns during labor if you don't want a C-section. Or see if you can see someone else just to try to turn the baby.

I am going weekly now. Had my 36 week check yesterday. Was routine with the peeing in the cup, Fundal measurement, and heartbeat. They did the gbs swab at this appointment and we are now starting cervical checks. I was 1 cm dilated and she didn't say how much effaced just made mention that it was quite a lot. She mentioned how she wouldn't be surprised if I went early. I might just have a May baby!!
  • Had my 35 week appt today and finally some new actions. TDAP, GSB test and a cervix exam. None of which I knew were happening until I got there and I almost had a meltdown. I'm not big on surprises. Turns out all three were easy and not the least bit painful. Baby is head down and I'm not at all dilated.

I did get quite upset at myself at how poorly I handled the visit and I called DH to say I'm not sure how I will ever get through labor with my anxiety... A rough visit in that regard.

I did ask my doc if they are able to give anxiety meds during labor if I'm panicking - he said yes, in a Iow dose. That made me feel a little better even though I don't want to go that route.
  • @hoodoll82 my OB said (& an anxious friend who did this) oxygen helps too with anxiety & is safe!

I've been checking out different positions to get him to turn all afternoon. Tried a few of them already and will definitely keep trying. My doctor mentioned that my placenta is not in a favorable position to safely perform an external version (I think that's what it's called). He also mentioned that because LO is transverse and there is nothing pressing on my cervix, that progression isn't likely. I will continue to discuss labor/delivery options with my doctor. I certainly want what's in the best interest of my son, but if there is ANY way possible to avoid a c-section, I'd like to try that first.
  • I had an appointment today.. 35 weeks 5 days. I had the gbs (seriously not as bad as I thought for those of you who still have to do it, didn't even have to use stirrups!), and cervical check. Two centimeters dilated, one more than last time. Came home, went pee, and bam! A bunch of blood on the toilet paper! It seems to be fairly common this late in the game after a cervical check, and i'm going to call in the morning if it persists, but wow it was really surprising after all these months of no period! Freaked me out until I could do some research!
  • Had my 36 weeks appointment yesterday. I have 3 different doctors and this one frustrates me a lot. She checked for dilation and didn't tell me anything. (not to mention it hurts more than I expected!) and she has never told us the heartbeat or the measurments of my tummy. Am I just weird or would other people like to know this kind of things? We tried asking her the heartbeat yesterday and all she said was "its really fast." The other doctors tell me everything and it's just so frustrating when I have her.

My doc doesn't give measurements either. I agree it's a bit annoying. I didn't mind earlier on but would like to know at this late stage of the game! I know it's all guesswork but at least a sense of if she's bigger or smaller...

I only have one doc but I am seeing others in the practice for the next 2 visits and maybe they can tell me more!

My docs always tell me the heart rate but almost never tell me the fundal measurement. The very few times they have, its always been to say I was measuring right on track, so I've just been assuming that all the times they don't say anything its been the same. Maybe its that way for y'all, too

My dr always tells me the measurement, heartbeat and my weight (unfortunately haha).  I always ask questions like "Am I measuring on track?" etc. so maybe they have a note in my chart to tell the drs to tell me all that information ahead of time because I'll ask otherwise haha I just thought it was standard for doctors to give all that information to the patients?
  • I'm going to weekly now as well. I started this week, at 32 weeks. I have GD so that's why.  I will have Biophysicals, and 1-2 NST's per week. So technically I'm going 2x/wk.

Baby was measuring around 4 lbs, give or take 10 oz they told me! And in the 56% and my fundal height was right at 32 weeks.

Baby is head down, but I'm having a C- Section on the 22nd regardless.

Wow really I get my vitals checked, I give them a urine sample and the doctor gives me an ultrasound at every appointment.
  • Had my apt with my MFM dr today. Good news is BP was normal! Baby is apparently very low and she measured my cervix at only 2cm Which is apparently short. She says even if we weren't inducing in 2 weeks (GH) that he would likely be early!?? I don't even know what all this means... I thought I understood when I was listening but now I'm confused. I'm 35.1
  • @teather5 Im in the same boat as you. They keep saying I wont make it to my due date. Had my 36 week app today, shes still measuring small (32cm) but the growth scan at our last app confirmed that she is okay, just small. Had some real contractions last night. and when they checked today I was only 1cm dilated and 25% effaced. She's been head down for a few weeks now. Exciting to know, but I know I could go till the end of the pregnancy like that, even though they say she will be early. We will see. I'm ready for her to be here, but wouldnt mind if she stayed in and cooked a little longer. Especially with how small she is.
  • Had a routine visit today at 34 weeks. Doctor said I was one of his easy patients. In and out of the clinic in less than 20 min. He did say he will do a cervical check next time at 36 weeks and he mentioned before wanting to start NST at 36 weeks due to my age. I'm happy he found the heartbeat quickly and said "Beautiful!" as he listened. I know things can still go wrong late in pregnancy so my happiness is tempered by worry about "what ifs", but as of today baby's still doing A-OK:)
  • Baby is still breech... Ugh! Pretty frustrated by this but I'll continue the course of tilting. I'm just frustrated because I have done everything- I eat healthy and avoid sugary foods, I exercise daily, I tilt daily and still breach... My husband tells me welcome to motherhood, it's just starting early. I could use some positive thoughts that baby will flip. My husband has lost hope and so has my doctor so any good juju would be appreciated!

Baby's heart rate was 140 and they were happy. He is 5 lbs according to u/s, but we all know how accurate that is. Dr said with his measurements he will be skinny- my husband is a stick and so I'm not surprised- he will be just like his daddy.

Got the GBS done... Fun times ;)
  • Had my 35w visit today and dr confirmed what I thought which is baby is head down. Also said he's laying on his side so his spine is on my right side and his hands and feet are on my left which makes sense because that's where I feel the most movement! Good strong heartbeat and measuring "right on track" so everything's good. Got the GBS done which was a piece of cake but next week we start the internals-fun fun!
