I love this. If I can temp at night instead of morning that would actually make temping a feasible option if/when I decide to take it on.

Can't hurt… But I wouldn't want it to make you anxious if it didn't work for you.
Thanks... I'm still a bit on the fence about it. I tried opks in my first 2 cycles and ended up having a freak out because of timing. I am taking small steps towards full blown tracking but my biggest concern still with temping is my fiance's 8yo son who more often than not ends up in our bed around 4-5am after nightmares. I'm not sticking a thermometer in my vag with an 8yo right beside me and I can't temp orally because I'm a mouth breather
I think vaginal temping is over-recommended… I bet mouth temping would work just fine.  People like to see "pretty" charts, but as long as you have a temp shift, a rocky chart does not matter.
I'm wondering if you could temp in the arm pit and have an accurate temp shift... I read that is what is recommended for temping; to detect thyroid issues.
That doesn't seem like it would work. Eat thermometers are definitely out though.
    My TTC History:
    2009: missed miscarriage #1 at 9 weeks (trisomy 16)
    2010: Infertility
2011: Diagnosis and treatment (low sperm count, anastrozole for DH, clomid for me + IUI)
    2012: Baby #1
    2014: Baby #2
October 2015: missed miscarriage #2 at 11 weeks (trisomy 22)
    March 2016 BFP#5, due November 2016.

  • Oh wow, how cool. DH and I sit for about an hour or so to watch a movie almost every night. This would be so helpful to take my temp at night. it would be more consistent. I mean..in theory, why wouldn't it work if I do the same routine every night, use the same thermometer, and take it at the very same time each night. Hmmmmm

It would not be "more consistent" than taking it in the morning. But it might work to show a temp shift if for some reason you can't temp in the morning.

And let's remember it's one cycle with a BBT that had to replaced mid-cycle. Don't get your hopes up yet that it's an option.

You mean ear thermometer right? I seriously was sitting here scratching my head over why you would think I eat a thermometer lol.

I had never heard of taking a temperature under the arm until college, when my Belgium friend told me I was gross to put one in my mouth...

    Edit**
A few websites mention it as a possible way of temping for ttc purposes. However, I would think this would probably only work in the morning. https://www.focusonvibranthealth.com/fertility-for-women/how-do-i-use-my-basal-body-temperature-to-determine-my-most-fertile-days/

Don't know how reliable that source is though.

I did last month, I had a temp shift. I didn't think it mattered as long as it reads your temp.
  • @TheBorg7of9 there's a temping question on the TTCAL board that I think you might be able to help with if you want to take a look. The thread is titled "Question about sleep and temping". Up to you but I thought of you when I saw it.

I love this! I have been so curious about the differences and have thought about trying an experiment like this but I am way too lazy and too new to FF to pull this off.

@TheBorg7of9 - you really should write a book one day....then everyone will say "LURK. LURK. LURK. Read TCOYF. Start temping. Download FF and take the tutorials. And for the love of God - buy @TheBorg7of9 's book...it's pretty much everything I listed in one place."
I swear I was thinking the same, couldn't write, I assumed I ll be labelled into the crazy female who had a Internet crush on Borg.
I think we all have an internet crush on Borg.
Lol glad to know I'm not the only one, I keep really hoping she and I get bfps the same month because I really want to see what she has to say on pregnancy topics :x

Interesting that the charts do seem to follow the same basic pattern, though I'm surprised that your evening temps are actually lower than your morning temps.  I would think it would be opposite.  Still a neat experiment! :)
