Fine during the day, but contractions at night!?

What is it about 2 a.m.?  For the past two nights I have woken up to cramping, contractions and back pain...  I'll walk around a bit, get some water, time the contractions (they're usually about 7 minutes apart) and then fall asleep again around 4 a.m.  When I wake up later, contractions are gone.

Anyone else only getting contractions at night?  Wonder if it means I'm dehydrated and/or the baby just gets in a bad position or on a nerve while I'm sleeping?

  • I have contractions off and on all day but they are bad / more constant at night. Usually 7-8 min apart lasting 1-2 min each. Then they stop after about 3 hours. My Ob said " oh your just practicing".... I am ready to stop practicing at 40 weeks :(

  • I get them at night when my bladder is full. The contractions wake me up. OB says a full bladder is more irritable, so it's common.

Mine start around dinner time and are gone by the morning. I don't mind practice if it brings some progress

Mine go from 12am to 4am for the last month. Doesn't matter position I am laying in, sitting, or a full bladder. I agree! No more practice, let's get on with the real thing.

This is me right now. Up all night with contractions. They're getting stronger and there is a pattern, but I've been here before and it was false labor.
  • Glad to know I'm not alone with this. So frustrating!  (and I really want some sleep)..

  • Contractions have been crazy at night! But then wake up in the AM and lo and behold, STILL PREGNANT. I hope they are doing something. I've been instructed to sleep during early labor as much as possible, and to take Tylenol PM when I feel like labor is coming on. So I've been taking it the last two nights bc I'm not sure, so at least the contractions don't keep me up at night.
