I ate subs throughout my first pregnancy and I just had another one today. I think the point is to not eat deli meats that have been setting out all day un-refrigerated. So you could ask the person making your sandwich if they could grab meat straight from the fridge. I also read that if you microwave the meat first, it will kill any possible bacteria.
Just a lay person's opinion!

I broke and ate Schlotzkys last week, I was craving a sandwich so badly. The girl that took my order said the meat was cooked so I said why not. It was delicious!!!
I didn't eat deli meat during my first pregnancy, but have been eating sandwiches, hot dogs and all sorts of stuff this time around. My OB says everything in moderation is fine! I was super careful with my first, but feel it's true "second child" and so on your much more leneant! I say enjoy your schlotzkys, go for it girl!!
It can't believe I'm seeing this post. There was a Schlotzky's down the road for about 15 years and I think I ate there once. Today I drove by where it used to be and was wishing like heck that it was still here. Ha!
Schlotzsky's is my very favorite thing right now. I can see it steaming when it rolls off out of the oven. Ultimate original on wheat! I know what I'm having for dinner tonight!!!!
I eat deli meat with out steaming it. If it comes from a reputable place I don't worry.
This. Particularly with places like Schlotsky's and Jimmy John's, etc, the turn over time of the meat is so fast I never worried too much during my pregnancy.
