Documentaries

Hi ladies!
DH has been finding some great documentaries for us to watch. It's our first time so we're just trying to get all the info we can. Ricki Lake's documentary is very informative and worth a watch! I think you can watch it on YouTube. If you've watched something good please recommend it here!

Re: Documentaries

  • Sorry, it's called The Business of Being Born.

  • Obsessed with The Business of Being Born. I actually watched it for the first time almost 2 years ago before DH and I were even married because I've always been so interested in the journey that is childbirth!
  • Ina May Gaskin (the main Midwife in that doc) has some books out that I definitely plan on checking out as we get a bit closer!
    :D
  • Just watched it after seeing this thread. As a nurse, I can totally sympathize with the message of the documentary: that American OB's (and docs in general) overvalue intensive interventions. It really made me think about what I want and actually made me really excited for my own labor experience, even though it's certainly a ways off!
  • There's also a documentary on Netflix called "Breastmilk" that's really interesting, especially if you're considering breastfeeding. There are some strange parts (see: lactation erotica) but overall it's a good film.
  • Omg for a really good one about the global economy and the oil industry and political corruption, watch Pump - it's on netflix. It was very interesting and informative
  • I love all of those. I have seen them (also business of being born part 2). I had an unassisted vbac with baby 7.
  • 40 weeks! I cried most of the time (happy tears!) so you might want to watch it alone :)
