How did you tell your co-workers?

Well, it's about that time that I have to let the cat out of the bag at work. I'm not really looking forward to it because I hate to be the center of attention, but it's got to happen sooner or later, and next week we have a staff meeting. Looking for cute and/or interesting ways to tell them during the meeting. I don't want to go the cookie tray in the kitchen route because I work in an office with about 40 people, but would prefer to just tell my immediate department (about 10 people) and let the word travel that way. We are a creative group (graphic designers) and have worked together for many years, so I feel comfortable with them.

Any ideas? thanks!

  • I told my closest work friends one day and let it go from there.  I'm really not a fan of everything needing to be a pintrest inspired pregnancy event.

  • I just had my team together in a room for a meeting....was talking...blah blah blah....and said "Sorry I won't be here in October for the conversion because I'll be on maternity leave".  And just loved watching their faces go...did she just say MATERNITY LEAVE!  Then let it spread from there.

  • During a weekly branch meeting (6 in our branch), when it was my turn to discuss any updates I picked up a calendar and pointed to my due date and just said, well this is my due date.  I personally told friends in other branches, and just let it spread from there.  I'm also low-key!  I waited until the end of the meeting.
  • After our NT scan I brought the utlrasound photos in and just said I have some news!

I was having a particularly rough day with one of my students and one of my co-workers said "you deserve a drink tonight after that!" I said "I know! But drinking while you're pregnant is sort of frowned upon." Their faces were priceless! I have told my principal as well, but now I'm just letting word slowly make it's way around the building. I'm not all about a big production either so that's fine by me. Funny how much women gossip
  • I let it slip at lunch when I got the news of abnormal my results. I had to tell them why I looked so freaked out and it was nice having that support there as well as at home.
  • After I told my boss, I told my most gossipy work friend. Now everyone knows :)

I sent a group text to them the day i got my positive home pregnancy test
  • I am the same way ....I do not want to be the center of attention. When a opportunity presents itself is when I tell co-workers. I.E. One asked me today if I wanted to begin doing the biggest loser challenge. My response was Drs. frown up weight loss when pregnant. Totally tooke her off guard and she was super excited.

I'm not really close with most of my co-workers so they found out through Facebook and not one of them liked it or congratulated me. That was 6 weeks ago and they still haven't. Haha.

The handful of people that I work with that I am close with I just told them by slipping it into conversation or by showing them an ultrasound picture! Nothing fancy or special for work friends lol.
  • I told my boss and some closer coworkers in private but when I was ready for the whole floor to know I just told the gossipiest girl in the office. That did it. It's really awkward telling people I think.
  • My hubby is sending me flowers and balloons for mother's day. Im 14 weeks already so its been hard to not say anything but i already promised him he could make that decision.
  • A few work friends know but the ones I do a monthly girls night with don't and we're going out Sunday so I'm going to tell them then. I didn't want to tell too many people before hand, at least not until parents know tomorrow night. I'm going to tell the girls Sunday to keep quiet because I want to do a Facebook announcement and then I don't care who talks about it.
