August 2015 Moms

Has anyone started/finished their nursery yet?

Hello! I'm 24+2 and I haven't even started the nursery yet!!! :O I have a theme picked and a few items bought but the room I'm using isn't even cleaned out to start painting/decorating. Am I super behind? Starting to worry as this is my first pregnancy and already had a preterm labour scare. What do you other mamas have done?

Re: Has anyone started/finished their nursery yet?

  • Hi! 25 weeks and 2 days and I have done nothing! You are not alone girl, baby boy will be sharing room with me but I have done absolutely nothing yet. Do want to get started on painting soon though

  • Hi 24 weeks 1 day we just cleaned out the room yesterday and we have bought a few things
  • 25 w 1d and we haven't done anything except get her closet ready. The room is pretty cleaned out, we just need to paint. We are holding out on buying furniture because we hope my dad and DH's parents do that for us. She will be in the room with us to start with so I'm not super stressed.

  • 22 weeks and 1 day....nursery is painted and I refinished an antique dresser. I just have to add the other pieces of furniture and decorations.
  • I'm 24 weeks. We painted, installed closet fixtures, and set up the crib this weekend! It's not ready though. I still have lots of stuff in that room that needs to move to another room. I feel like I still have plenty of time.
  • Im 25 weeks and not even close. I have been waiting 8 weeks on my furniture to arrive. Keep in mind that it can take up to 3 months for nursery furniture to come in, depending on where you order it from.
  • Well this weekend, I organized all my first daughter's old stuff that I have been haphazardly throwing in the extra bedroom for months.  I wouldn't worry too much about it.  As long as you have a pack-n-play bassinet or something for the baby to sleep in when he or she is born, they don't really *need* to have a perfectly decorated room ready at their disposal.  I am aiming to have everything done by late July.

  • I have started clearing the room out that will become DD1's big girl room so we can move her out of the nursery. We ordered the furniture this weekend. The ordering furniture thing is probably the one thing you should jump on, as others have mentioned it can take quite a while to come in. Plus if you need any adjustments made to the closet so you can hang up those tiny clothes. We added a second lower shelf/rod to ours.

But really, as long as you have a safe place for baby to sleep, the rest of the details can wait. DD1 roomed in with us and didn't even touch her nursery until about 3 months. Though her nursery was complete.
  • 26 weeks and nothing. But, I have started de-cluttering.
  • I'm 25w6d and it's pretty much ready to go except for decorating. We didn't paint the room bc it's wood paneling. I did start clearing out the spare room/office when we started ttc bc I knew I'd be tired and not feeling well when I actually got pregnant. All the furniture is in there and set up and I've done some diy projects (my hobby). You still have plenty of time but I'd start soon bc I hear the third trimester will make you tired and plus we will all be huge and it'll be harder to do things.
  • I'm 26 weeks and we have started to clear out her room, but haven't had the painters come or anything!
  • I'm 25w4d and the nursery is almost done, just missing curtains and a rug. This was all my SO though. If it had been left up to me the nursery would still be a storage room. My SO has been super excited so it's been done for fun and not because of a ticking clock.
  • We JUST finished painting it and my husband set up the crib but we still have all the other furniture to set up.
  • DD's nursery is almost finished. Cleaned out, painted, furnished, and all her clothes hung up and put away (although I intend to wash them again later).

I knew I would not want to worry about it with DS being barely 2yr old when she arrives... So I got to it ASAP after finding out the sex.

  • We painted and have the crib and dresser. No decorations, rocking chair, window treatments, mattress, sheets, or anything else. (25w 3d)

Figure we would put the rest together slowly and not stress about it...

  • I'm 26 weeks tomorrow. We have all the furniture bought, assembled and set up and the walls are painted. We have curtains and a rug but nothing is up on the wall yet, aside from a big tree decal.
  • Lil bit and I will share a space. I have started to purchase his things and placed them in his closet but as far as a full nursery, that would be a no go mama!
  • I bought a crib but it's still in the box. I also bought an unfinished ikea dresser that we haven't painted yet. Other than that, nothing.

  • I'm 26 weeks and haven't done anything for the nursery. We have our crib and an idea of what we would like, but we still need to choose paint colors etc. you are not behind.
  • I'm 24w, and I can't start on mine because we're moving.... Eventually... If anyone buys the house or if we can find somewhere to move. Gaaaah. It's driving me crazy, and hubby suggested cleaning out the spare room that were just using for storage just in case we don't get moved by then, which kinda makes me anxious instead. :/ If I set up here, I honestly don't feel like I'd be progressing with anything, if that makes any sense.
  • I'm so glad we're not the only ones that haven't done much on the nursery yet!  Sometimes it seems like everyone on this board is so on top of things, and I feel like an unbelievable slacker!  LOL.

We've purchased the crib & dresser, but haven't yet assembled them.  We've also picked out our colors, and purchased the paint.  DH plans to paint the room next weekend.  Other than that, we have purchased exactly one blanket.  And that was only because we happened to stumble upon it and it matched our color scheme perfectly.

Thank you ladies for making me feel better about myself today!  :)
  • I'm 25 weeks and 5 days and we started the nursery. We started getting the paint on the wall but still have a bit more to paint. We started a month ago because we have to replace carpet and fix a couple damaged parts in the floor. The crib is bought but in its box and so is the rocker that will be here wednesday. Still need to order the dresser and buy curtains but I can't decide on a color yet. My boyfriend refuses to let me do anything so I'm just waiting on him to get busy in there again lol.
  • 26 weeks 2 days and the nursery is complete. Maybe it's because I was completely not prepared for DS when he came 6 weeks early. I hadn't bought much and did not paint yet. With DD I have my bags mostly packed and room is painted. I'd rather be prepared then hoping my mom or hubby picked up the right stuff
  • I am 22 weeks, but I have only started the decluttering process. DH bought and installed a cute baseball ceiling fan (we are doing a sports theme) and we found a glider and a swing pretty cheap, but they are in other parts o the house right now. LOL
  • 22 weeks and waiting for the house to close, for me to relocate, and then to get settled-- so not even started on nursery. I'm going to make decorating the nursery an activity I do with my MIL when she arrives about 3 weeks after DS's due date.

  • I am 22 weeks. Baby will be rooming with five year old brother after the baby gradutes from our room at a couple months old. We are traveling for the month of June and will be back when I am 30ish weeks. I am thinking I will pull out all the baby stuff and tackle redoing the "boys" room when I get back. At the same time I am starting to get antsy about it so I am guessing I will get a plan and pick out paint, etc so it is all ready to go when we get back. I might even have DH paint while the kids and I are gone.

  • I'm 26 weeks and our nursery is finished for the most part, but only because my parents will be out of town most of the summer (until middle of July) and since my husband works a lot, I knew I couldn't do it all by myself this summer. Also, I made a lot of things by hand (curtains, crib skirt, wall art, etc.) and wasn't sure how long they'd take, so I started early. I'm glad it's done now so I can focus on the rest of the house. There are so many little things I want to finish before the baby gets here!
  • I am 23 weeks and so far room is painted and furniture is bought but still sitting in boxes. We have friends coming in from out of town for my baby shower and need the nursery for them to stay in, so I can't start to do much in there until I hit 29 weeks! It's killing me...

I have lots of items picked out (rug, lamp, wall hangings, curtains, etc - mostly online) that I plan to purchase here and there until baby comes. I don't think you are too far behind :)

I am 26 weeks and we finished moving my 8 yo daughter out of that room this last weekend and into a new room we just built for her. The room is nursery size so we built my daughter a standard size bedroom so we can keep baby close to us. It is already painted girl colors but will be repainting it and cleaning carpets before we move anything in.
  • I think I win the whole having nothing done contest.... I am 25 weeks now and I am in the military. I am PCSing to Germany next week. so we don't even have house for the baby yet let alone a room. but we shipped out household goods ahead of time so the crib, mattress carseat , bouncer and some odds and ends are on their way. sad thing is they won't get there till June so.... that sucks. but it's whatever as long as she stays in there until august we will be well prepared.
  • I am taking my time. I am 24 weeks and I'm halfway done painting. I'm in no rush. I have a full time job and a 3 year old so I don't have a ton of free time. I usually have to work on it when my son Jameson goes to bed.

  • Still working on ours. Got the mural done on one wall and edged the rest of the room out last night; need to roll out paint and then that'll be done. But then... we still need to get carpets cleaned, curtains, and I registered for our crib & furniture so we can get a discount- shower isn't until June 27th though haha. We'll get there...
  • Got the call today the furniture arrived at the store. Next, picking it up and setting it up. Then the countdown .

I have done nothing. Maybe because in May I have my shower and hope to get everything I need for the nursery and more. I live out of state, so all my family and friends will be there. I'm excited.
  • We started!!! The crib is up and changing table is being refinished as I type.

We're doing a complete overhaul of the closet--switching doors out, installing drawers and storage. Then, we paint the room!

Curtains are being made as well. I still feel like there's so much more to do though.

I don't plan to do the room until after baby comes. My first slept in our room for a few months, so there will be time. I am also not finding out the gender with this baby so I'd like to wait and see what it is before decorating. I was like everyone else with my first getting it all prepped before the baby came, but it really isn't necessary or something to stress about. It will get done:)
  • Oh, I'm 23w4d and we have nothing done. The 'nursery' is still a room full of daddy's things and needs to be cleaned out and painted. I have a crib... and an antique dresser that I need to refinish.
I'm not letting it stress me out. Baby will be in our room for the first few months anyway and DH is currently remodeling the bathroom for me. We'll get to it... probably before August. :D
  • Lol we are moving literally on my due date. I am trying not to stress about it but will likely be bringing baby home to a hotel!!!! Lol. I got a Rock n play because my son slept in one his first couple months and I'm hoping baby bro will do the same. So no worries on the nursery. Had ours totally ready with the first and then we had to move before he even got to use it!!! Gotta keep a sense of humor or I'd cry. Lol
  • My nursery furniture is being set up right now! Squeeee!
  • She is just getting a corner of our room since she will be sleeping in our room for at least 6 months, then we will move her to share a room with our son until we move into a 3 bedroom. We already have a crib, changing pad, dresser etc but nothing is currently set up. I still need to paint the crib, get her a hamper and some baskets, set up the changing area. I already have her clothes hanging in the closet by size and shoes etc in drawers. Started to collect some girls blankets and swaddles etc. I still need to decide on the art for above her crib and what print sheets and change pad cover to get.

I'm 26 weeks. We've cleared and painted the room and ordered the furniture, but it hasn't arrived yet! We should have everything delivered by mid-May.
