  • I labored for about 20 hours with my first and only about 10 hours with my second. Both were induced. My first I was induced with cervidil for 12 hours, then pitocin. With my second I was just induced with pitocin.

We'll see what happens this time around!
  • My labor woke me up in the middle of the night at about 1:00 am. My water broke at about 3:45 am when leaving for the hospital. Then I got to the hospital and pushed for about 45 minutes and DS was born at 5:11 am. So about 3-4 hours of labor. There was no time for an epidural for me. Maybe if i had gone in right after feeling the contractions. But I didn't want one anyways, so it worked out :)
  • I really hope that it's true. It took 26 hrs for my first. I only pushed for 2 minutes though so that was a blessing. If this one is just a couple of hrs shorter I will be a happy camper. I was just so so tired.
  • My first was 42 hours start to finish with 2.5 hrs of pushing....I sure hope this one is shorter!
  • I hope this one falls out
  • The beginning of labor is considered when contractions become regular, consistent and change to more frequent and lasting longer progressively. It is also defined as when the cervix begins to dilate consistently and become more effaced consistently:) taking a final exam over this stuff on Friday! Wish me luck!

Also, fun fact, the first stage of labor (which is from 0-10 cm dilated) takes on average 9 hours for FTM, and 5 for multigravida (STM/TTM). The second phase or "pushing phase" is 1 hour on average for FTM and 30 minutes for second/third babies. So if you follow the statistics, yes! You should be shorter by almost half the second time around!!

Im holding you to this, lady! good luck on your test!
  • My first labour was not a pretty story to tell. I usually keep to myself as to not scare FTM's but I've seen some pretty crazy stories on here as well! My labour began when my doctor induced me at 42weeks! And was sent home overnight to get labour started (they used cervidil) in the morning I went back to hospital after having back labour all night and then got my membranes striped (ouch) I was going into pretty hard labour when all a sudden it just stopped, they had to put me on pitocin and made me walk the halls for hours until it kicked in. Once I was 10cm dialated and fully ready to push..... 40 HOURS later.... They found out my DS head was facing forward and that my pelvic bones would crush his face! (I didn't reAlise this could happen) and after many tries of pushing him and trying to turn him, I had an emergency c-sec which unfortunately I felt as they had to get me in so fast due to dropped heart rate of us both. I was put out after my son was born and met my little angel about 4 hours after recovery. This is not a glamorous story but it is mine and when they say you really do forget it all once you have your beautiful baby in your arms they are right! None of that horribleness mattered afterwards!
So all in all my labour start to finish was just under 41 hours. I pray to God that this little girl comes out as natural and as fast as possible compared to my first!!
  • My first was 10 hours may have been slightly shorter if I didn't have to wait for the doctor to break my water. fighting your body's natural instinct to push is hard. My second was 10.5 because my contractions stopped and I ended up having to wait for the doctor to induce me and break my water. prior to the contractions stopping I was half way dilated by hour 3. Pushing only took about 20 minutes both times.
  • All my labors from first contraction to holding baby in my arms...

    Baby #1 = 7.5 hours
    Baby #2 = 4 hours
    Baby #3 = 2 hours
    Baby#4 = 9 hours

I am hoping this next labor is back in the shorter 2-4 hour range.  :)
