Hi Ladies! Last night I was researching reasonable price points for diapers since I'm trying to save money while stocking up. This post from Southern Savers (see below) was the most comprehensive guide I found. It talks about price per diaper per size and important things to consider when buying in bulk. Hope this helps anyone trying to stock up!
I've found that my son uses far fewer diapers at size 5 than he did as a tiny infant. He gets a diaper change before bed, first thing in the morning, every time he poops, and whenever his diaper gets really full in between. We use 1 overnight and about 4 regular diapers per day, as opposed to the 10 or so he used as a newborn. So as the cost per diaper goes up, the usage of diapers tends to go down. I usually buy his diapers when Target is offering a $10 gift card if you buy 2 boxes. That lasts a couple months, then they have that promotion again.
PS. If anyone is already starting to stock up on diapers, CVS is offering $5.00 extra bucks if you spend $20 on Huggies. It's the packs that are $8.99.
I've been taking advantage of the $10 Target GC deal. It should go on for another week! I went last night to pick up another 2 boxes but the cashier didn't give me the $10 GC and I didn't realize it until I got home. Blerg! I was SO mad. I miss CVS!
While it sounds like a lot, don't panic! I typically just got diapers with my first two babies while getting groceries or at Target and I didn't feel the dent in my pocket. Diapers really aren't that expensive, try not to stress . I never made a plan or chart, I just went with it.
I was thinking about starting to stock up on diapers and wipes and other baby items but than i ran into this article in Pinterest & it also made sense!
It talks about how you never know how your baby is going to react to certain brands & chemicals & that for that reason she felt it was best(for her) to stock up on ther every day items like toilet paper, tooth paste,napkins,soap/shampoos etc. Instead. I still havent decided what Im going to do but I just thought I would share. The point is to save money and time lol.
@yoopermom824 I considered it before I got pregnant and before I found out it was twins, but honestly, hosing human waste out of cloth several times daily did not sound appealing. And I don't think my husband would be willing to do it, and since he'll be staying home with them I think it will be easier on everyone to use disposables.
I am stocking up but saving receipts. I am aware babies can react to some diapers so I have chosen the brands all my friends and family have the best luck with. I plan to open a small pack of each brand before opening a big box. Then I can return unopened boxes if the brand doesn't work.
