I took the afternoon off and got an hour long prenatal massage. Apparently my knots were so bad they felt like I was suffering from "chronic pain". My lower back and left buttock has also been hurting. Needless to say, it felt amazing. It relieved so much tension and I feel super rejuvenated. I highly recommend it.
Re: Prenatal Massage
The differences between a regular massage and a prenatal massage are the positions (side-lying for prenatal, no face down and no tables with belly cutouts - too much pressure on the spine and uterus), the strokes and pressure. The strokes should be slower and the pressure much lighter due to the increased blood volume and flow. The therapist should avoid massaging the inside of your thighs due to blood clots. The pressure points in ankles and hands should be avoided (look these up if you are unaware of them), but really are not going to put you into labor. I've held the pressure points of ankle on my overdue cousin for an hour straight and she didn't go into labor until 3 days after.
A good therapist will do you wonders! Highly recommended - gave lots of massages when I was doing this full time and never had any complications.
