Naming my son August, thoughts?

My husband and I just fell in love with this name and while I'm not changing my mind I'm curious to know what the name brings to everyones minds?

I love it! It's actually at the top of my list for a baby boy but we will likely go with Augustus as a full name and Auggie,August, or Gus for a nickname. I personally shied away from Using August as the legal name because of everything goes as planned our little boy will be born in August and I didn't want to be too matchy with the name and birth month but if that doesn't bother you, more power to you!!

I think the name has... hmm.."romance", in the best sense. It's unique and yet familiar.

If I were to think of it as a color I'd think of a dusty blue. The kind of dusty blue that you see above a vibrant sunset.

I actually love month names, especially August, april, January, June and may. I think it's cool that the name should match the birth month as well

Very cute. August was on the top of DH's list for our baby boy but I vetoed it because I couldn't get past the "August born in August" thing. We will definitely be considering it next go around though (assuming we have a boy due in a month other than August).

Love the name, hate the nicknames. I also think of August Rush, which is a beautiful movie. I like that it's the birth month! It would have been on our list, but we're having twin boys, and naming after the month wouldn't really work for two. :P

Augustine was on our girls name list. I also like August for a boy but like others have said, don't think I can have a baby called August born in August!

I think it's so pretty but some could say feminine. I've seen and heard Augustus for a boy and nickname August and augie. But I wouldn't worry about anyone else's opinions, it's your baby and your choice!

Thanks everyone as far as I can tell it's traditionally been a boys name but even it there's the odd girl it wouldn't sway me. I don't think it's a very popular name qhich is also another plus ☺ I hope everyone decides on a name soon if they haven't already.

I've been leaning on Auguste if mine will be a baby boy. It doesn't hurt that people names August whom I know are nice. And I love Augustus Waters in The Fault in Our Stars

I love the name August or Augustus! Our daughter was born in June and we named her Juniper, so had actually considered August or Augustus if this little one was a boy (it's a girl!).

That's what the main male character in Fault in Our Stars goes by. His full name was Augustus, I think. I remember really loving the name when I read the book. I've had a name picked out for my baby since I was in middle school. August would definitely be on the list otherwise! What are you thinking for middle name?
