Anybody else watching the Diane Sawyer interview with Bruce Jenner?

I have watched Keeping Up with the Kardashanians (but not religiously) and I have always loved Bruce. He just seemed so normal and out of place with the rest of the K clan. Also, in college I took several classes on Human Sexuality and transgender issues. We had a couple of speakers come in and speak to us about their situations. And recently, a friend's daughter is going through gender reassignment (is this what its called?). He now goes by a different name and they have fully accepted him! I look up to my friend so much and what an amazing Mom she is to her "son". I think he will have a surgery once he's done with college (he is graduating high school right now).

I am very curious to watch it but I won't be able to tonight because DH and I are driving back to my hometown for my mom's baby shower for me.

The whole thing is really intriguing to me. I know very, very little about this issue, but my mind has been opened to it thanks to some of the books I've had to read for school. One in particular (Beautiful Music for Ugly Children) was especially touching to me and I thought it did a great job of showing people who (like me) know very little about transgender issues what exactly it is that these people go through. It really helped me be more sympathetic, whereas before I just thought the whole concept was super weird. I have to admit that I still don't understand it, but I now know that if it's confusing for me, it must be even more confusing for someone to feel trapped in their body! I would hope that if one of my future children comes out as trans, I'd be willing to listen and react with love.

I'm intrigued enough to dvr it. I fully support his decision to do what he feels is right for him. No judgements here. Everyone has the right to live an authentic life. I'm proud of him for doing what's best for his own life.

I have a friend who is transgender (female to male). He is very open about it and the company that we worked for was extremely supportive throughout the entire process. To look at him, you would NEVER be able to tell. He looks like a man. He had a double mastectomy about 4 years ago and went through the testosterone shots. He struggled initially - imagine sitting at the gynecologists office (as a man) and being called back for your yearly pap! Or going into the men's room and hoping there is a stall available. He also had to deal with a lot when getting a new drivers license. Strangers weren't all that accepting. He is fortunate to have the love and support of his family. It's so sad to see people taking their own lives because they feel so alone. I applaud anyone who goes through this process! I'm not nuts about the entire Kardashian clan but if something good can come of this is that it opens up the conversation and gets people to become more accepting.

I feel like I'm the only one that will say this but......I really don't care enough to follow up on what's going on. I do kinda feel bad for him, going through this major point in his life and having cameras follow him everywhere...BUT I'm just so sick of hearing about the Kardashians/Jenners everywhere I turn lol

I am cautious about any Kardashian branded people (Bruce included!) being genuine as they are all so attention-seeking. I do feel bad for his wife (all 3 of them) since he said he waited his whole life for this... They must feel so deceived and that everything they experienced was a lie! I will try and catch the interview!

I never watched or anything any Kardashian clan. I know who this guy is, and some basic idea of what's happening with him. I might have watched this interview but I went straight up to bed when I got home and I'm not going back down there to set the dvr. I got respect for the guy, tho, if he is going to go thru this process with cameras on him (he pretty much has to, paparazzi will stalk him silly, which is kinda a shame). I'm sure its difficult under the easiest circumstances, and being in the public eye is far from easy

Yeah lots of attention-seeking... Didn't care for his smug "I had the story" comment ... Makes me question his motives for marrying kris in the first place! I really hope this whole Bruce storyline doesn't take away from people who are going through this and are really needing support and understanding.

Right! That's kind of the feeling I got too. Maybe she was able to downplay it in her own mind. Or dismiss it as a harmless fetish? She already had a lot of kids to support before him so maybe it was worth jumping in anyway?

I've only watched half of the interview but Bruce must be so proud of his 4 older children. I thought it was great for them to stand behind him and support him. They seem so different from the Kardashaninans.

I didn't watch, but I've read several articles this morning summarizing the interview. I'm not ashamed to admit that I watch the Kardashians and follow them on social media. From what I've read Kim is actually being very supportive and Kanye is actually telling her why it's important to be supportive. I normally can't stand him, but I think he's hit the nail othe head this time.

I think he has Burt and Sandra from his marriage with Christy, Brandon and Brody with Linda and Kylie and Kendall from Kris, plus his 4 Kardashanian stepchildren.

I agree. When he said he was a conservative, I was like, "what?!" That could be quite interesting, but I was disappointed he didn't talk about that much.

It was so good! I do watch the kardashian show just a s a stupid guilty pleasure even though I hate to admit it and I never would have guessed! And for once you get to see him talk about his story not just being surrounded by the kardashian clan
