Puppy peeing everywhere!!!

We've had our four month old puppy since Valentine's day and since I work from home we got him house trained fairly quickly. He has a pretty set schedule on when I take him out and when he eats, probably an hour or so range difference, but we haven't had any accidents since his second week here.

The last two days he's been deliberately peeing inside. We'll go out and he'll do his business, we come inside and he goes right in front of me on the carpet, LOOKING RIGHT AT ME! It's happened twice today alone, one of the times he went on his cage.

Is it possible that puppy knows baby it's coming soon and is acting out?

Re: Puppy peeing everywhere!!!

  • Is puppy a girl? It seems to me that female dogs get extremely jealous and lash out in their behaviour. We actually had a female pitbul and she was almost 6 years old, and we had to get rid of her because she was being super aggressive and doing little things like tearing up the garbage, eating baby's socks and just simply being weird. As for the peeing, I believe you need to make them fully aware that it's wrong. With our rotti (he's a boy) when he was a pup, he would get his nose rubbed into his pee & told he was bad, and then put outside directly after peeing inside the house. He is now 5 and has never done it since he was a pup. I think they just need to know right away that it's not okay, otherwise they won't stop!

  • Sounds like a urinary tract infection. Get that puppy an appointment at your vet ASAP and bring her there on a full bladder!

  • Puppy is a boy and he's showed signs of jealously towards baby already before. He's pooped in her room if the door is left open so while I put her swing together I closed the door and he went outside the door. We think that's because he couldn't see me so we'll be getting a gate for her room but it still makes me wonder how he'll react to her. We've washed our towels in the baby detergent (we're still working on what he can and can't chew on so I left her clothes out if it lol) so he's getting used to the smell.

With my due date four weeks ago it's just not something I want to be too serious.

    Thanks for the suggestions.
  • Sounds very much like a uti. I just had my German shepherded female dog treated for that because of the same peeing issue. Is it in little spurts constantly? I would find a vet that can get you in and take a look. Good luck!
  • It's full on pee but we're going to take him in.
  • Boys can still get UTIs!
  • I very much doubt it's a UTI. But take him in if you think it's possible. Seriously, dogs just know when something's up. And they get jealous, just like a little kid would. They also get protective after they realize they aren't being replaced & still loved n shown affection. I hope he stops peeing n stuff. That really sucks! Good luck tho!
  • When my German Shepherd was a puppy she had peeing issues all the time. She was fully potty trained, but she was a nervous and excited peer. And I swear, she would punish us by peeing in the house. We leave her for too long and come home, let her outside and she'd still come in and pee on the floor right in front of us. She grew out of the revenge peeing and the excited peeing.
