Umbilical cord question

so my DS cord fell off this morning but there's still the yellow stuff in his belly button. Can I clean this out and what can i clean it out with? It's been 2 years since I have done this and don't remember!

    You can use some rubbing alcohol if it's not an open wound, bleeding, or looks infected. OR, just use soap and water. This is what my Pedi told me but it might be different for your situation.

    My little had a granuloma under her umbilical cord with the same oozy stuff. The pediatrician recommended a qtip with rubbing alcohol to clean it and help dry it out.
