I'm having a fetal echo on my son next week at 22 weeks pregnant. I was wondering if anyone has had one an if they just look at his heart or if they let u see ur baby too for a few minutes.
I had 2 on the same LO. Everyone's experience will be different, but mine they only looked at the heart. For the longest time my LO was breech, so when I went for the second echo (around 30 weeks) I asked if LO was still breech. The doctor told me she wasn't qualified to tell me that. She was only trained to look at the heart.
So the short answer is no, I don't get to see his face/ head. But I did get to hear the heartbeat.
I had my fetal echo during the A/S. The fetal echo was performed by a pediatric cardiologist and his tech while the A/S was done by the tech that was part of my OBs staff. The two were obv very different and the fetal echo tech just kept looking for all of the components, chambers, etc of the heart and reporting to the doctor what she was identifying. When they were done the A/S portion took over. I'd have felt embarrassed asking the fetal echo tech to look at the sex. It was something I took very seriously and ensuring my child was healthy was the only thing on my mind at that time.
I had my fetal echo during a 2nd growth scan so there was other measuring and pics and sex confirming happening. Baby was not cooperating during the echo and it took 20 minutes longer than expected and I was pretty miserable from lying on my back for so long so the tech flipped the machine to 4D and gave me a few awesome pics as a reward haha.

A fetal echo is specifically for the examination of the heart anatomy. If the tech has time he/she might be able to check other medical concerns, but really. It's not a free viewing of your baby. I am not sure how many different ways you hope to ask this.
