  • I love lemonade and Ocean Spray Cran Grape juice... those are definitely my go-tos when I'm not drinking water!

  • So far mandarin orange seltzer has helped when I am craving soda (I cut out all soda so this is as good as it gets) and honest tea half tea half lemonade does a decent job too!

Yeah, I cut out soda too... I miss it. I've never been a tea drinker or a coffee drinker, but I love soda! Oh well... juice is healthier I guess.

I have a diet coke obsession so cutting it out was really my only option (this will be waiting for me after delivery)... My doctor cautions me away from juice which is so frustrating (she says it will just make the baby bigger and is empty calories)... I am like what is one glass of apple juice going to do?! Ugh!
  • Watermelon!!!!!! Mmmm

I have been dying for watermelon!!!!!!! I don't know how in season it is yet but I am going to get one soon!
  • Watermelon!!!!!! Mmmm

    Oh I agree and grapes!
  • Jumping on the grapey train.. Frozen red grapes quench my thirst!

  • Some juices like apple actually dehydrate you so watch out on drinking that excessively plus not all juices are better then sodas. A lot of them have tons of sugar. Try crystal light packets too
  • I bought a big thing of Gatorade powder, and I add it to my water to taste. Sometimes I want full-strength Gatorade, sometimes I want it just a tad watered down. As long as it's super cold, I love it!

Yeah I just like the taste... Definitely not drinking apple juice for hydration. I never drink anything with artificial sweeteners so crystal light is not an option for me...
  • @Serenamarr ok you are making my watermelon craving even worse! I have also been enjoying smoothies with frozen fruit to make like a slushy... They are pretty awesome too!

I love sparkling apple cider. I pretend like it's wine and drink it in a wine glass at dinner ;)

    That is awesome :)
  • I used to drink a small amount of Gatorade (like 6 oz) and then a huge thing of water. It helped quench the thirst.

I like Pure Leaf sweet tea and raspberry tea. There is caffeine in them so I try not to drink more than 1 (unless it's a special day or something). Also, for those of you who want a taste of soda but don't want the caffeine or the high fructose corn syrup, the Jarritos Mexican sodas come in lots of yummy flavors, have no caffeine and are made with real (not synthetic HFCS) sugar. These are generally what I drink if I am not drinking my water concoction - a gallon of water in a pitcher, with an orange cut up into slices and mint leaves steeping in it. Orangey-minty water, mmm

I need to find those Mexican sodas I have never even heard of them!... There was a great "ginger beer" that was locally made (not alcohol) that was fantastic and had no artificial anything in it ... I wish I could remember the name of it!
  • Coconut water!! It's the best for hydration. Great source of electrolytes, potassium and magnesium.

My old yoga instructor swore by this! I like the pineapple coconut waters.
  • @ElRuby The Mexican sodas will be in your grocery store in the Mexican food aisle (NOT the soda aisle). They are usually lower to the floor, not super obvious. But I don't remember a proper grocery store where I haven't seen them. However, I know that my local Walmart grocery does not have them in either the soda or Mexican isle, I always find them in actual grocery stores. They come in bottles, with flavors like strawberry, pineapple, tangerine, mango, lemon, lime...lots. Here's a pic of what they look like. They're tasty

  • I use two parts (sparkling) water, one part juice, when I want something besides water.  We used to have a SodaStream, which was amazing for making these juice "spritzers."

I have also been drinking a ton of ginger tea - either from ginger teabags at work, or by slicing fresh ginger into hot water, at home.

When I was a tennis player, I learned that adding lemon to water is supposed to hydrate you better.

I also used to love VitaminWater XXX, but just read it has the same amount of sugar as three and a half donuts.  Yeesh!

  • Squeeze lemon in water add ice... Mmmmmm

Mmmm I got on the ginger beer train in first trimester - was so sick of ginger ale and the ginger beer was stronger and settled my stomach much faster!

I hate the taste of water - so I'll choke it down but have been also interspersing with flavored seltzer, Gatorade and coconut water!
  • Have you heard of Mio? They're little drops of flavoring you can add to water... in lots of different flavors. :-)
  • Agree with the watermelon comments. Just scoop it out and blend it up, it's my absolute favorite. Or coconut water with a little bit of fresh pineapple juice

I have been craving fresh lemons squeezed in my water. Seems to cure my craving for juice.

I keep meaning to make watermelon slushes since they are seriously perfect where I'm at right now but they never seem to last long enough to make it inside of a blender :(

Watermelon would never make it to the blender in my house either haha
  • I was craving watermelon agua fresca (a Mexican drink) last week. I made a slushe of fresh watermelon and ice and then added a little fresca and muddled mint

  • @mellymar and all - I discovered German Alcohol Free beer since this thread originated. The hefeweizens are really good. They have about 50% of your daily folic acid, plus lots of other vitamins. Weinstephaner and Schoffenhofer have good ones. There are also several types of Pils but I'm not as big of a fan of those, personally. DH thinks you should be able to find some in the U.S. too...
  • This thread makes me sad.

Stupid GD. My go-to thirst quencher is good ole' h2o, juices are a no-go. Sometimes I'll spice it up with a lemon, but even that has elevated my sugars.

Ohh! I have been on the lookout for alcohol free beer but have so far only seen O'Douls and Busch NA. I think I am just in too small a town to find anything good. But, we may be making a trip into the nearest 'city' where I will look for a beer distributor and see what they have for NA beers. Also, for regular beer, as I hope its not too long to wait yet.

GD here too. I really really really want a smoothie.

Have you ever tried sparkling water, like La Croix or Dasani Sparkling? They have some really good flavors that help break up the monotony of plain water.
  • I'm seriously enjoying some iced jasmine green tea right now. I added a touch of honey and I'm thinking of adding mint to the next round :) other than iced teas I really enjoy adding fresh fruit/herbs to water...tarragon and lemon basil are surpirisingly refreshing options! Lemon La Croix is fantastic, too. When I want something hot I steam almond milk and add cocoa and cinnamon. Yum :x

Cool! We just got a load of tarragon from our crop share and was looking for something to do with it!
