Quick story: DH and I are in disagreement about the cat hanging out in the nursery pre-baby. I think he should be in there and get used to the new room. So, we put the pack N play together and DH was not keen on leaving it built lest the cat get into it. I mentioned our cat is way too lazy for that. Anyway, yesterday he calls me into the nursery and points to the pack n play. There's a turd in it. I start to leave to find cat. DH laughs. It's a fake turd. (Ps my husband is 35 and owns things like fake turds.) It was pretty funny, and I'm still right that our cat will be just fine! Also this is what I get when I ask him to start organizing all his old boxes of stuff!
I would let the cat get used to it... All my pets were in the room during all the nursery prep and now they barely go in there... I worry that when you make something off limits they get annoyed..

if you don't let your cat in now the fake turds will be real turds after baby is here. Well I mean that's what happened with DD. Our cat would purposely poo in her room because she hated her. It was like we had replaced her and she was getting back at us.

Yep we don't know our cat won't do that - although he's a VERY chill cat - but he's had access to the nursery for the last few weeks and will continue to do so. Fingers crossed. Luckily (I think) he's much more attached to DH than me so I don't think he will be too mad when I divert attention to baby.
