  • Running late for everything this morning. I have a ton of laundry to do...plus I still need to go grab a outfit for dh and I dinner date tonight. All this belly is slowing me down :-/
  • This might get a little long so forgive me! I'm finally feeling good today save for some random cramping and rib pain. A far cry from what was going on this weekend. Long story short (or as short as possible), Saturday DH and I went to our childbirth class. Got home around 3 and wanted to lay down for a little nap before we were supposed to go to DH's grandmother's 92nd birthday. Excited puppy wanted to get in on the nap, ran into bed and pounced on my belly. After an hour of no movement I Was officially freaked and went to L&D. Had to be monitored for several hours but thankfully everything seemed ok. Doctor didnt seem too concerned because there was no cramping or contractions or dilation.

So yesterday, I wake up, DH makes a nice pancake breakfast and I proceeded to throw everything up an hour or so later. I had diarrhea all day and a fever that developed late in the day. All signs of preterm labor. Baby was moving really well all day so i tried not to freak out too much. Really didnt want to return to the hospital so was gonna give it till today to see how things were going. Thankfully just ate breakfast and everything seems fine.  Still debating if i should call the doctor and go in despite feeling better. Wondering if yesterday was a fluke or a touch of food poisoning.

Needless to say, i need another weekend to recover from my weekend.
  • Woke up with a headache - I'm hoping that if I drink lots of water it'll go away. I also have my normal hip pain, it was especially bad last night. I tried to such sides frequently to give each hip a bit of relief, but rolling over in bed is getting harder and harder to do. I just keep telling myself "only 6 more weeks!"

  • Extremely tired and feeling big as a house. Sometimes when I toss and turn at night, I am surprised I don't whack my hubby with my giant belly... :) As uncomfortable as I am, I guess it's a good sign that little man is getting nice and big!
  • Have some awesome acid reflux to start off my monday.  And a boss that is literally trying to make me go crazy.  It's not even 11, and I think I have received 30 some emails from her.  I am so over today, I already put in a request for a personal day on Friday.  Is it 5pm yet? Not that really counts for me as I am wrapping up my MBA and I have class tonight and tomorrow night, 3 weeks left before graduation. I am really looking forward to maternity leave :)
  • Does anyone else have clogged ears? I can't hear anything :(
  • My ankles and hands are officially swelling, just barely got my shoes on this morning. I'm a hair stylist, hoping I can make it through the last 3 weeks without too much discomfort.
  • @westypet thankfully no more pre-term labor symptoms today. No fever, no vomiting and no diarrhea. Still have worse heartburn than usual and backaches (upper, not lower back). It sucks because i know a lot of this discomfort just comes with the territory of being 30 weeks pregnant. I just hate having no clue how much is normal.

and seriously, if anyone knows of a good way to hydrate without heartburn, i will love you forever and consider changing my future daughters name to yours lol who would have ever thought water would cause so much heartburn
  • @Mommaswizz so glad you are feeling better today! I'm with you on hating having no clue what's normal.

I attempted to do a quick workout yesterday after our 7 hour childbirth class. I think I started having some Braxton Hicks. I chugged water and put my feet up for the rest of the night. I'm feeling huge today. LO is moving a lot, and I'm exhausted. I'm hoping to head home after work, put my feet up, and convince DH to pick up burgers. If I get sweet potato fries it's healthy, right?
  • I'm pretty sure the lower section of my uterus was expanding on my 45 minute metro ride this AM. Uuugh. I had to do the breathe in 3 counts and out for 6 counts I learned from yoga just to get from metro to the building. People looked at me like I was about to labor this baby right there. Lol. I hope I can make it through prenatal yoga tonight!
  • Like others, my heartburn is out of control. So hard to sleep!

I am off today - the Boston Marathon precludes me from getting to work, hooray! So I'm driving DH crazy, I'm finally starting to nest. I'm definitely going to get yelled at today when I move a piece of furniture I shouldn't. I'm boxing up grad school notes and books to make room in our house. Everything is a mess but I can't help myself!
  • April Showers bring...May... Babies...?

Looks like we will be meeting our baby boy mid May! Here's what's going on...

At the beginning of the month, I was admitted to Labor and Delivery for monitoring due to some higher than normal blood pressure reads (that appointment and the one prior). It was pretty scary but everything checked out perfectly with me and baby. I wasn't given any directions to change anything and just to be aware of symptoms of preeclampsia and what to do if I get any, etc. We chalked it up to "white coat syndrome" (I get a little anxious every time I go to the doctor... I know I'm not alone on this!).

On Thursday at my normal checkup, no surprise, high blood pressure read again. After discussing it thoroughly with my OB, I was diagnosed with Gestational Hypertension. Unless my reads start to stabilize and improve, I will be induced at 37 weeks.

Today we saw our MFM specialist (whom we already see for an echogenic focus on his liver (aka "bright spot") and discussed the diagnoses for a second opinion; she agreed with the OB. So... as of now, we will induce in 4 weeks. Best case, reads improve and we can take it week to week and try to make it 40. Worse case, I could begin to develop preeclampsia/ BP could worsen and threaten healthy of baby and we could deliver sooner.

Good news: I feel pretty great and I haven't been given any restrictions besides "take it easy" (yay, no bed rest!), baby looks great, his head down and his movement is great.  There's my Monday so far.  Therefore: Symptom = overwhelmed.

  • @Mommaswizz I also am having your gross symptoms today.... I know I overdid it at my shower this weekend but eww....
Headache first thing this AM..... >:/
I pretty much can't handle today......
Also I feel like my co workers are assholes. Not one has texted or called since I've been on leave.......
  • Wow I sound like a whiny B. Sorry guys!!!!

Ummm that would hurt my feelings so much! I was offended when no one checked on me after my 3 hour glucose test on Friday. And I'm sorry your head is hurting!

That would piss me off, too. Even just a hi, howareya text would be cause for a smile.

@teather5 holy cow what an eventful couple of days you have had! Here's to hoping your blood pressure stays low! Take it easy, mama!

@finchfeeder80 geez that really sucks. I hate being forced to not be active. I mean, I tire easily now so its not like I'm raring to go and do stuff, but when I want to do stuff, I like to get my ass up and get it done. Ugh. Rest up, mama. I remember that thread a while back where the gal was having bp issues and her situation ended up being quite serious! I hope yours ends up being an easier go of it than that poster!

Edited - 'no issues' to 'no issues'. I mean 'bp issues'. Wtf autocorrect? (Left the previous sentence as an example of how it snuck up on me. Twice)

  • @finchfeeder80 I must have missed that in my sugar crash stupor, I swear those glucose tests have all the bad parts of being drunk and none of the good. Sorry you had to go through that and that you felt neglected! Sending you hugs!
  • Terrible heartburn, nausea and morning sickness again. And experiencing carpal tunnel syndrome, which I've never had ever before. It's so uncomfortable and awkward having my right hand almost completely numb and nearly useless.
  • Exhausted. I've been feeling tired a lot recently. Tried to clean out a closet but couldn't do it. Had to come lay down instead. I have been getting a lot done though, especially last week so maybe that's why I'm feeling so lethargic. Yesterday felt like first trimester. Hoping tomorrow I'll have more energy again. Acid reflux every day but hasn't kicked in today yet.
  • Glad @finchfeeder80 is feeling a little better. Sorry I didn't check on u. I feel like we've had a bunch of ladies on here that have been having PTL symptoms and/or end of pregnancy discomforts and complications. My apologies if I forget to check in on someone. X_X

I've been busy cleaning and nesting today. Prepping for my sprinkle on Sunday. My hostesses live on the outskirts of town, so my house is a logical choice. I just don't want to clean the damn thing. Lol. Luckily I have a friend helping me that is staying with us for a few weeks. It's always nice to have an extra hand. With that said, I'm like a lot of you other ladies and have been tiring out easily and having SOB. It's incredibly frustrating. So I'm taking it easy right now folding cloths and thumbing through TB while DS naps. I'll take my breaks when I can get them.

As for those trying to rehydrate without heartburn, a friend said milk was her first choice to ward off HB. It does the opposite for me so who the hell knows. Maybe eat some watermelon?
  • @finchfeeder80 I missed it too! Hope everything stays okay! Be easy on yourself!
  • Just woke up after sleeping 13 hours. probably could sleep another 5 if I didn't have to go to work. Thanks for making me a zombie as usual, Unisom.
TTC: 1/2014 BFP: 9/24 EDD: 6/8/2015 Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
  • @mellymar It's been under control the past few days, but I'm basically grounded on what is essentially modified bed rest. If I'm up and about too much, it starts creeping right back up, even with the bp meds they gave me. We were painting the nursery yesterday, and by "we" I mean the hubs and our moms. I "supervised" by hanging out on my cedar chest in the room and chit chatting. I did paint on the door a little bit. When we finished I checked my bp and it was higher than it had been all weekend, so I'm begrudgingly accepting my limitations for the moment. So no more gym for now. I expressed frustration to my ob about my bp going up despite still working out so much and she said what's going on is just something that happens, and there's nothing I could have done to prevent it. She used the example of a skinny person getting diabetes, sometimes crap just happens and not to blame myself.

Thanks for asking! Hopefully that wasn't whiney AW-ish on my reply to klkonwi, I just wanted her to know she's not alone. :)

ETA: They did give me the steroid shots to help the lungs, just in case. So we are prepared for the worst but keeping our eyes on the best!
That's so very frustrating to not feel like people care about the things that you have to deal with day to day-- especially when they're so limiting!

No self-blame for you, missus. Just take it easy and stick to the doc's orders.

Maybe you and @klkonwi aren't getting texts because want to leave you alone on leave? I know I hesitate to call/text people when they're out of the office because I worry about my timing and disturbing rest/relaxation.

Otherwise, they're just buttheads and self-involved like the rest of the world...

Thanks for those heartburn suggestions! Maybe dairy is a good option. I usually do ok with cereal, and last night, cottage cheese seemed to feel okay.
  • @finchfeeder80 I also missed it! Enjoy your time to relax, I hope that with you taking it easy baby will stay put. Keep us updated! :)

  • @finchfeeder80 I missed it too! Looks like we are in similar boats. Will be thinking of you! We've got this!
  • Allergies are still bugging me today. I can't go outside for even a minute without eyes watering up and nose running. Which means no evening walk for me :(( hopefully this runs its course and will be done soon!

Other than that no real pregnancy symptoms besides peeing a lot, but that's not a real shocker there... Ha!

Oh and crying for no reason... I was watching Miss Congeniality the other night and was at a funny part and started crying uncontrollably. Glad DH missed that wonderous sight! What's up with that hormones?!?!?!?
  • @ngaines27 I can just imagine that conversation - 'why are you here today?' "Well, other than I almost had a stroke on Friday and the drs at that time told me to check in with you today as follow up, I guess because I enjoy hanging around your waiting room so much" 'oh. Well, have a nice day' #-o

And yes, I haven't seen @frankengibbs post for a while either

Almost exactly how it went down! *eye roll* His nurse spent more time with me discussing how scary I sounded on the phone Friday than he even spent in the room. It was disheartening, to say the least.

Am I imagining that @frankengibbs had an important appointment today??

I feel like so many of us are dealing with incredibly stupid people the past couple of days, and most of them dealing with our healthcare. What the hell is wrong with these providers?? I'm pissed off for you.
