Erection in ultrasound!

Re: Erection in ultrasound!

  • @bpwife&mama you are entitled to your own opinion but it wasn't a post that warranted any ridicule. Haha it's funny and it's a natural thing (I probably wouldn't post about it to strangers either) and something that is unexpected. No harm, no foul, let's move on.

It is so amazing that so many people responding so ignorantly too this post, really thought about keeping my thoughts to myself, but I really can't.... There is nothing wrong or shameful about a baby having an erection, it is NOT anything sexual or dirty...I have 3 boys and I can assure you that it happens and when it does it's usually because he has to pee and if you are in the middle of a diaper change that means it's time to move quickly. The whole point of being on this forum is to learn from others and guess what this is something a new mom of a boy should know. And guess what, baby girls have issues too that some of you may consider personal or dirty or inappropriate but a new mom should know about... Which I know only because of my beautiful nieces... Baby girls can have leakage from their Niples or bloody discharge from their vaginas...(very scary by the way for a new mom who is clueless to this) More disturbing facts of life when your baby becomes a toddler, he or she will play with their private parts, again, NOT sexual.... Just curiosity, the same way they play with their fingers or your nose or they pry your mouth open to look inside... Grow up people.

Thanks for parenting me. And I continue to love the term "baby erection".

OMG we have friends coming over for brunch in an hour and I just realized that our ultrasound photos are on the fridge! Do you think I need to hide those to protect the baby's privacy? He's naked as jaybird in those photos!

Seriously. Get a life. If you think you might find a post about a baby's erection offensive, then maybe don't click on a thread called "erection in ultrasound"!

  • Haha wow, there are some really prudish people about who kinnnnd of need to get a life! The people moaning about this must be really fun to be around.......

Thanks for the laugh OP :)
  • All of these "get a life" comments are just as ridiculous as the debating over whether it's appropriate to post about your kids erect penis.

I can't believe this is still a debate.....

So seriously, without the snark: I realize that some of the women opining on this are people who I normally consider among the more sane around here. I get why you wouldn't post a photo of a baby's erection on the interwebs or why you should be careful generally. But the OP here doesn't have a user name or profile that gives away her identity, and she didn't post her ultrasound photo. What exactly is an Internet perv going to do with this post that puts her at risk? I believe people should be careful, I just don't understand how even mentioning it is a no-go. And if the issue is just that you wouldn't talk about this in polite company, that's 80% of the posts on this board. So I really just don't get the reactions.

This is a very common topic here on TB. You don't post pics of your babies genitals (which OP didn't do) and you generally don't discuss the status of your kids genitals. In my opinion, any discussion of my kids genitals I usually avoid. Not because I'm skeeved but because it's unnecessary. Should OP be flamed? Nah. I, too, consider you @jemholo a person "I consider among the more sane around here" however your comparison to teenage pregnancy was very extreme. We definitely don't agree here.

It really has nothing to do with being "inappropriate" for me more than just something I don't really discuss. That's just me though.

Please read what you write before you post it. And because I choose not to talk about my son's genitalia on the Internet makes me "not fun to be around"? I kinnnnd of have a wonderful life.

  • @jemholo, I feel like we would be friends in real life. I am also really confused how my post compromised my kid's safety. It's not like I've posted identifying info on here. I haven't even posted a bump picture because I don't want people I don't know being able to identify me! I haven't discussed what we're naming him for that same reason. This whole thing has been a real eye opener about how sanctimonious parents can be.

  • Please forgive me.
From now on I will just think in my head what a whiny bunch of prudes some people are rather than posting what I think in case I upset said whiny prudes.

But seriously..Come on... Lighten up!!! You're acting as though the OP has posted a pic or is talking about it in some kind of sexual manner. It's a BOY. It happens. She was just sharing a funny story which most people seemed to see the funny side of. If anyone thinks it's weird then they are in for a big shock if they ever have a baby boy!
  • Prudence has nothing to do with it, ladies. It's maturity.

Once again let me state I already have a boy and I know what happens. It's a personal issue that I personally would just not discuss. Perhaps some of you find it funny (not sure why if its such a natural thing) but it's not something I regularly discuss.
