    I have a stupid question...

    I came down with a respiratory infection and its making my blood sugar out of control (I'm GD). I set up an appt with my family Dr but should I also call my OB?

    I don't know that you need to call your OB, but I certainly don't think would hurt! I hope you feel better soon!

    Your family PCP should consult with your OB after your appointment if neccessary. If your appointment is several days out then I would call your OB to see what they want you to do in the mean time!

    This is more of a silly question I guess, but I'm sick this week and I just started wondering today if baby also feels sick or if he just feels me feeling sick...lol. I'm not really concerned about it, just a little curious.

    Ok so I have a dumb question...

    I lurked over to the April 2015 board to see how they're doing. Just curious since they either had their baby or about to soon. I read over the labor symptoms thread and a lot of them referred to having lightning crotch.

    What is lightning crotch?!

    Not sure I've ever experienced that but I'd like to know.

    I don't think I ever experienced that with my first. I'm not really looking forward to having it either. I'm good not knowing what it's like to get punched in the vagina :)

    I was sick in February and my MIL asked me this! I'm pretty sure the baby is just doing his/her thing feeling fine. I'm a FTM though, so I really have no idea what I'm talking about.

    I totally wondered this exact same thing when I was sick. We'll probably never know, but it was definitely fun to ponder

    It's so weird to cough with this belly, too! It contracts in the weirdest way! I wonder if the baby is like, "whaaaat is happening?"

    I thought it was actually something to do with the pubic symphosis (? too lazy to look that up) softening/stretching to make room for the baby to come out. Like the ligaments are being stretched, and so sometimes your pubic bone (and other parts of your pelvis) are pulled in positions they normally wouldn't be and it hurts a lot all of a sudden. I can't imagine a baby really could kick you that hard from the inside when they're inside a fluid-filled sack that it would hurt THAT much, could it? I suppose I might have some surprises in store if they can . . . yikes. I certainly haven't felt anything near that intense coming from my babe, but I do have an anterior placenta too, so maybe that makes a difference?

    I think what you're saying makes sense. I've heard something like that too but thought maybe it was more like round ligament pain. I just haven't heard the the term "lightening crotch" and the moms on the April board talked about how painful it is. I haven't felt it myself so maybe the placenta position makes a difference? That link that was posted is a Bump article and someone was quoted calling it a "cooter basher". The feeling down there is related to the baby's movement as they're changing positions. It could also be part of having Braxton hicks contractions.

    Lighting Crotch...this is my third pregnancy and the closest thing I can think of is when baby kicks/punches directly on the cervix, which, yeah, hurts like hell.

    I have experienced lightning crotch and have an anterior placenta... It's painful for sure but for me was more of an uncomfortable pain versus feeling like a beating. Quick and sharp and baby did it frequently around 25weeks nothing more of lightning crotch since then! Be happy this is one symptom you missed out on. There was also a distinct difference between LC and RLP.
