I'll bite @Frogger5 - the idea of Hilary Clinton in the White House is terrifying to me. I will not be voting for her.

It doesn't terrify me, but she's not my favorite. I wouldn't pick her in a primary, but you bet I'll vote for her in the general if it comes down to it! What about her don't you like?

I don't find her to be truthful in any situation.  Mind you, I have issues with finding politicans truthful (no matter the party), but her line of BS every time she is challanged on anything is tough to swallow.

Truthfully I'm not even planning on paying much attention until later on. Lots of things will shake out by that time - I think our election cycles are way too long! I understand what you mean, though, and I agree that I have a hard time trusting anyone with that much (potential) power.

I'm glad you didn't say that you were afraid a woman be too hormonal! I'd have flipped. out. :)
  • I hate politics completely. I like to stay relatively well-informed on both sides (i consider myself smack in the middle of the road) but I really don't like talking about politics whatsoever. I'm already getting peeks at which facebook friends I'm going to want to dump as next year's election comes closer. For what it's worth, I have many friends who are political regardless of whether or not it's an election year, they just voice their opinion all the time. I'm okay with that. What i REALLY cannot effing stand are the people who become expert politicians once every four years. I seriously wish I could cork their stupid faces lol.

YES on getting peeks at which facebook friends to drop as the election gets closer!!

  • I REALLY want to see a woman in the White House, but I don't know if she is the one. The problem is that I'm really beginning to sour on almost all 'career' politicians so I don't know that I could honestly pick any of them for who I would have in that spot. I know who I definitely DON'T want in there, but nobody that's left after the ones I don't like has really made me feel excited

Yup, same. Actually, I don't care so much if it's a woman, just so long as "women's issues" are taken seriously. We'll all have to wait and see who's in and who's out in six months, etc!
  • I'm really fed up with and about to go off on the obviously pregnant women who are outside the hospital smoking when I get my daily wheelchair trip outside with DH. I ate healthy, exercised, started taking prenatals 1 year before I conceived, used clomid to conceive, stopped drinking the whole year we were trying to conceive, etc and yet I still ended up in the hospital for what is looking like it will be 4-6 weeks with complications. This is no one's fault - not even my own. But when I see women doing things that we know are harmful and put baby at risk that are not essential - I.e. Smoking, it really pisses me off.

That would piss me off too!
  • I totally agree on the smoking thing!  Disgusting.

Well I am legit allergic to mushrooms guys. ;)

I don't LOVE cats either but, I do love my cat. My MIL has a cat I despise. She rips her fur out and growls if you touch her. Ugh. She attacks my feet under the table. Not any of the other seven people at the table. Just mine. I think we equally dislike each other.

Animal related, my UO is I hate ASPCA commercials. If I'm going to donate $20 a month to anyone it would be children. So many suffer from hunger and abuse it's crazy. $25,000 was raised for ONE dog here and social workers have to ignore abuse because they don't have the funding to house the children. A three year old little girl died in her own vomit because she was being "punished" but that dog had every luxury he could ever want or need. The two women that abused that girl to death served three years in prison. The boy that accidently drug the dog (and yes I say accident because I knew him personally and he is the biggest softy ever) served 7.5 years. The dog survived and the girl did not. that imbalance bothers me a lot. Maybe it was how I was raised and maybe I'm wrong but I hate seeing how much effort goes into saving the dogs around here and the children are neglected. We have ONE orphanage and several shelters.

I don't believe in animal abuse or anything. I myself have a hard time not taking in strays. I'm also not saying drop animal rescue centers or anything. I'd just like to see more go into child protection services in my area.

100% agree with you on this!! I have my Amazon Smile set to donate to the National Council for Adoption for this very reason. Hopefully one day DH and I will have a more flexible income and will be able to donate a bit more to charities like this, but I agree - I like dogs and cats, but I'd want to help a child more any day!

  • My UO is that It makes me sad when subway sandwich makers don't put love into my sandwich- they just slap a huge chunk of onion or a gross tomato and don't even think twice about it! Forrrr shammeee

    I think that's a popular opinion!
Relatedly: Anyone else think the tomatoes at Jimmy Johns are always disgusting? I don't know what the deal is, but they are consistently gross at two stores I go to.
  • I'm glad I read through this before posting my UO, because it was going to be political - I'm going to go ahead and open a politics thread instead to keep things separate for those of you who don't want to see it :)

Soooo instead of my political gripe, my UO is going to be... I get tired of people pushing gender neutral. Don't get me wrong, DD is going to be dressed in a healthy amount of blues in addition to her pinks and purples, but I think gender neutral can go to extremes, just as gender stereotypes can. At my shower on Saturday, I actually had a guest lecture me on how she was giving me a blue gift specifically because she didn't want my baby to be surrounded by pink and I shouldn't push DD to be a girly girl. I was able to control the eye rolling because the lecture came from a 15 year old who is in an antagonistic phase and probably said that partially to get a reaction. But seriously... give me a break!
    Agreed.
  • @mellymar I just googled debarking because I'd never heard if it - I can't believe what I just read! Unbelievable how a veterinary surgeon would ever ever agree to do that?! Don't they take some sort of oath or something like doctors do?!
  • @mellymar a few years ago when I was trying to adopt a dog I had the hardest time because the shelters in my area were beyond snobby. I had a house in a good neighborhood with a fenced in back yard, references from my veterinarian, no small children or other animals in the home, and was only out of the house for 6-8 non-consecutive hours a day. Despite all of this, 4 different places refused to even consider letting me adopt solely because I was 21. It was infuriating.
