My son is 6 weeks old and he seems to always be crying, except when he's eating..... He barely sleeps during the day, maybe 1 or 2 hours for the entire day. He does ok at night, wakes up every 3 hours to eat, but I feel like I'm going crazy. Nothing I do during the day makes him happy and I'm losing my mind trying to keep him from crying all the time.
Re: Baby never seems to be happy/satisfied
Also, I went through this with my DD and turns out she was soooooo over tired that she couldn't even sleep. I got the book "baby wise" and it helped so much. I didn't follow it religiously but it helped as a guide to prevent baby from getting over tired and over stimulated.
Sometimes the fussiness makes me wish I wasn't breastfeeding... So I could have wine. Or a Summer Shandy. Hard cider? Sangria?
Or a boatload of coffee....
As PP mentioned- lets just keep telling ourselves, this too shall pass.
I put up with an extremely fussy baby for a week and a half because everyone said it was normal. I'm glad I eventually stopped listening to "common wisdom" and went in. My poor baby was screaming all the time because she was in pain. Now with medicine and a diet adjustment, she can sleep and eat like a normal baby, and I am no longer losing my mind from the 24/7 forced contact and screaming.
