Breastfeeding suffering

i am FTM and I'm trying to exclusive breastfeeding my son ,but the problem my milk production is slow and I don't know if he getting enough milk from me or not .i pump after each feed and produce only 1~1.5 oz from both sides together
Is this low amount?!
And why some women their milk production flow like river and some like me :( suffer from low production??
What is the scientific reason for this ?!! It is just not fair :'(

  • I feel my milk production is slow as my breast is softening and kinda not full in the next feeding so my son becomes frustrated and fussy from my low milk flow so I give him what I pumped from the previous feeding .,yes he wet 6 diapers per day and sleeps well
  • All of what you said doesnt indicate low supply :) if baby is wetting enough and gaining weight your supply is fine! :) pumping doesnt indicate as well, your baby drains you out better than a pump.

The fussiness you are experiencing is most likely your baby's way of telling your body to produce more.  Keep baby at the breast and the milk will increase!  Sounds like you are doing just fine!

  • You're fine! Your breasts don't need to feel full or engorged. Often when your milk first comes in, it can feel like that, but by the time your supply regulates it's totally normal for your breasts to feel soft and normal. Only if my baby sleeps for an abnormally long stretch do my boobs feel engorged. Otherwise they don't feel much different than normal. Relax and keep nursing. Everything you've said sounds normal! :)

Through the night he wakes up twice..last feed in the day be around 10 pm then he wakes around 1am and the other around 4am
  • @MoraBeshara You'll be fine. With my first I used to worry that I was empty, I would just squeeze my boob and milk would come shooting out... after that I stopped worrying. As long as baby keeps wetting diapers, you guys are good!
  • Boobs don't have to be hard to produce milk. Frankly, producing an ounce after a full feeding is really good. You may benefit from seeing a lactation consultant, as they can reassure you that everything is fine, or spot something that needs improvement.
